I could feel my face contorting the further I got through that statement.
The only person "at fault" here is his friend for telling him what interview question he received and I'd expect companies know this happens, which is one of the benefits of having further interview stages in the first place.
I suspect they're all still far from it but it'd be interesting to know which are worth keeping an eye on.
And what about the referees who either don't care and never reply or send canned responses to everything?
I know people who have really benefited from mindful meditation as a means to manage stress though so I don't doubt it does help some people. Possibly better for the types of stress and anxiety that builds up over time from a mixture of sources than solely from one obvious cause like in my case.
>This lets me pick the distro that’s closest to my needs and customize anything I want to change. I’ve been using Xubuntu for years and it suits me - but there are hundreds of Linux Distro’s to choose from.
That's really what it comes down to for me, it's simply how ugly I think the interface is in terms of visuals and usability. It's difficult to describe but navigating the OS feels so painful and easy to get lost in. I'm sure it's mainly to do with me lacking familiarity with it but I've never felt that way on my Mac that I use for work.
Linux is a far cry from having the perfect window manager UX but it does have plenty of options so it's easy to find something that clicks.
I'm sure there are other OSS alternatives but this one just works for me.
So while I find Godot a little more constrained than Unity I much prefer it. The UI is better (although I wouldn't call it perfect by any means) and it's very easy to work with on a small project with it. Once I got familiar with the key concepts of the engine like Scenes I didn't find myself reaching for documentation or tutorials as much compared to Unity.
That said, the community for Unity is massive in comparison. If you have a very specific problem or want to implement something niche into your game you'll find a Unity example for it much more often than in Godot.
Once those things are done I largely get by doing smaller tasks and helping out where I can rather than directly involving myself in anything. Nobody has really seemed to mind.
Funnily enough, the last two days at my previous job involved HR and IT slowly revoking my access to most of the systems and groups we used at work (email, repositories, etc), to the surprise of my manager who said I could just kick back and relax until my last day.
If it does begin to annoy me I listen to something calming like ocean waves or raindrops falling (on relatively low volume). It does wonders, especially if I notice it while trying to sleep.
