If you want to see your kid, come have lunch with them one day or something like that
The school could always call the parent, or the parent could always call the school, right? Does the minute it might take the kid to answer the phone at the teacher's desk or walk to the office make that much of a difference?
The only way I see this being something that's truly time critical is if they're using "emergency" as a euphemism for school shooting.
No one forced you to interact with me and I think we're both worse off that you chose to do so.
Hey now, I was addressing this part of the comment "In a democracy, you are the government"
I am speaking as someone who lives in a red state where our abortion laws have been rolled back and have seen the impact of the gerrymandering first hand. This is the result of conservative policies and will likely have a negative effect on our state; whether by an exodus of those who don't see the point in staying or by increasing poverty for forced birth for those who can't afford to skirt the laws
>This is the result of progressive policies. Accept that or this will continue.
I don't live in SF so I can't speak with any authority to how much worse it has become. I can say that my city's murder rate is almost 50% higher than SF while being much smaller. From what I've read, SF is at least trying something in terms of harm reduction instead of just outright criminalizing or ignoring, which is what we're do and isn't working.
I don't have the answers and it seems to be a difficult task to come up with plans without violating a person's autonomy.
To be clear, I'm not intending to shame or throw shade at those who take or need the drugs, I just want to do all in my power avoid them as much as I can.
There are side effects, especially initially with loose stool and some nausea, but generally they don't last. I'm sure they persist with some but that's effectively every medication. The goal isn't to change the relationship with food where it makes one physically ill when seeing or eating food
EDIT: My experience is with Ozempic, not Mounjaro. They may work differently
I was put on Ozempic last year for a short amount of time. That, combined with changing of diet and starting an exercise routine, lead me to lose ~60 pounds in a relatively short amount of time (~8 months). I'm not taking the medication anymore and I did gain about 20 pounds back, but it's a lot easier going on a walk or run when you're carrying net 40 fewer pounds.
Willpower and discipline are simple things but they're not easy. In my opinion, it's important that the patient uses it as boost instead of a crutch and don't get too discouraged if/when they wean off and gain some weight back.
Are we not already there with states being able to dictate what is and isn't allowed?
A lot of this correlates with a manic episode from someone who is manic-depressive
There's a lot of discussion on obesity and weight issues on hackernews that show zero shreds of empathy that it's just wild to me and this is not much different. I don't think anyone refutes that diet and exercise are great options to avoid/combat obesity, but statements like yours are as useful as walking up to a smoker and saying "just quit". You may be alienating the audience you are trying to help, given that is the intention
2) This is an extreme oversimplification of the problem and feels to be made in bad faith.
Motivation ebbs and flows, but if one is not completing at least some tasks, it makes it that much harder to create momentum
You can pretty much sue anyone for anything for sure, but there are big differences between criminal and civil law. A lot of cases come down to the "reasonable person standard" and what level of security should be inherently provided. Choosing to slide down a big crazy slide while standing up and hurting yourself probably fails the reasonable person standard, but choosing to slide down a big crazy slide while sitting and becoming injured because a piece of the slide breaks probably passes the reasonable person standard
"The standards for initiating sex don't require a sit down conversation as to what each party is agreeing to."
This attitude leads to women having sex/relations they aren't super comfortable doing. It's not a mood killer if you take a beat just to make sure you're on the same page with expectations and it takes a lot less time than locating, opening, and putting on a condom.
You stated in a different comment that your gf tells you off and it kills the mood if you ask to move to the bedroom or having sex while impaired, but surely you realize that's a totally different situation than you meeting up with someone from a dating app, right? Spontaneously acting with someone you know and with who you have built trust is waaaaaay different than sending an unsolicited nude or making advances on someone who is a little more than a stranger.
