i67vw3··on Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro?
Saw some sponsored videos on YouTube where they out GoPro compeititor (Insta360 with it's logo) on a Korean/Chinese baby, and the baby enjoying his day.

Very good marketing I would say.

Attached Example (you will find many such videos on Social Media)

i67vw3··on Did Anthropic ask for this?
I think it will atleast take one month to set up correct flow for user authentication for both their subscribers and for API's (Cursor etc).

Others are thinking such a export control ban is good for them as it shows entire world Anthropic models are best, I disagree. It will wreck the company, IPO considerations etc, when the models may be best but their are no users to use them.

If such an export control ban stays in place for this particular model or future models of Anthropic, revenue will be affected. My guesss is around 50% of subscribers are non-US citizens, meaning direct 50% revenue loss.

Altman/Musk used to also do moral superiority, "Dangers of AI", lobbying to ban "non-safe" models etc. But they largely stopped doing it after 2025. While Anthropic/Dario increased the intensity of moral authority, and got hit back with exactly they were asking for.

i67vw3··on Get-a-Waymo: How a burglar used a robotaxi to flee the scene
If self-driving vehicles can be used for petty burglary, eventually it will also be used for more serious crimes like contract murder etc.

Actually there is no way to find who is inside the vehicle. If the criminal covers his face, his hands (no DNA, Fingerprint) and uses stolen info (phone number, credit card), police will have a very tough time with such crimes.

i67vw3··on The era of 15GB free Gmail storage is ending
I recently got free 5TB storage for one year with the Google AI Pro plan, as I had ported my SIM card to another carrier, new carrier had some sort of partnership with Google.

It was 2 TB originally, but fews days later on they just increased it to 5TB. Just bonker level of storage (for free).

i67vw3··on Cisco workforce reductions
The reason is basically that you are "required" to hire other "Indians".

If you get a job at a good company on your own merit, you immediately start getting calls to "refer" your college friends, family, people from your region/state.

Refer here means refer it to HR and make some "setting" that you are guranteed to be hired based on your "reference". Naturally reference would mean that considering you are an employee you would know about open positions and may refer the position to your friend, who would later on get the job on his own merit considering that he is skilled for the position along with required experience.

But the case for Indian employees is that a reference entails to scam the company itself, by letting a less skilled person into the company by making a "setting" with HR etc, who may themselves be from the same region/state.

And if you try to be morally upright person to deny such a scammy "reference", you would then get to listen verbal abuses from your friends and even from your own family members. To deny such a reference leads to straight up "banishment".

Tip:- Among 100 Indians if you see, only 1 or 2 are actually good at their job (or by morality).

i67vw3··on Why the US Navy won't blast the Iranians and 'open' Strait of Hormuz
Not every war can be fought from air, there needs to be soldiers on the ground.

In fight against ISIS, the Iraqi amry, Shia Militias, Kurds and others were ground forces while Allies were in Air. In Afghanistan & Gulf War, US forces were on ground.

But in these "conflict", no party is ready to send ground forces, ground forces to stop the air drones, ship drones etc. So the "blockade" will probably continue.

i67vw3··on Why I may ‘hire’ AI instead of a graduate student
Interesting read. I always wondered from where did the idea about "thesis" & other "extra-circular" activities come from, for both students and professors.

Nowadays, promotions of professors for different levels (Assistant, Associate, Professor) is solely dependent on number of papers they are publishing in Q1 journals. But the research maybe entirely bogus, same ideas repurposed hundreds of times by different professors.

The entire concept about "systematic knowledge" has gone downhill.

i67vw3··on OpenWeb announces new CEO, but founding CEO refuses to step down
What is the reason they are pushing out Founder-CEO and replacing him with board chairman? Article did not specify it clearly why they are doing it.
i67vw3··on After Iran Steals Sensitive Israeli Data, Israel Tries to Censor the Internet
There is also another side to it. Pro-Israeli telegram channels posting Gore, Violent deaths of Palestinians/Gazans along with celeberations (laughing emojis). Radical Israelis (Kahanist) posting pro-war messages etc.
i67vw3··on One Man Lost $740k to Scammers Targeting His Retirement Savings
If US government cared, they could have easily stopped it.

They can sanction the country if call centers do not stop, put tarrifs on them or simply just humiliate the country at world stage (UN) and within 24 hrs 90% of call centres will automatically stop.

A country like India which has hundreds of these call centres if threatened with sanctions, tarrifs, humiliation will quickly quickly stop them.

i67vw3··on Bangladesh built a tech park for 100k workers. Now it's a ghost town
Same case is for the Dholera City in Western India. No one in their right mind wants to move to the middle of nowhere. https://mahabahu.com/dholera-modis-dream-project-turns-lifel...
i67vw3··on Tesla cuts price of Full Self-Driving software by a third to $8k
$5k is the right price for Tesla FSD v12. If it is able to 'remember/recall' individual American roads from its database rather solely relying on neural nets then that would probably change the dynamics of FSD.
i67vw3··on Cosmic rays streamed through Earth's atmosphere 41k years ago
'Flood myths' possibly seen in China (Yellow river), Africa (Nile river) or Native Americas are quite different than the story of Noah and Manu.

Noah and Manu have the same characters and exact 'screenplay' in quite detail (only difference being the fish). Those who wrote the characters of Noah and Manu probably had same ancestors or the story travelled between Levant and Indus region.

It is the only the story from vedic writings that matches from the Hebrew bible. Other than this story as far as I know all Hindu texts differ.

i67vw3··on Cosmic rays streamed through Earth's atmosphere 41k years ago
Fun thing about the Noah 'story' is that the exact same story is present in Hinduism.

It goes something like, God selected a righteous person to help humanity survive the flood. He has this individual built a big ship in which humanity and animals can survive. The only difference in the story is that God took a form of small fish which grew larger as the flood date came close. In the end it became so big that it was able to steer the big ship during flood waves.

i67vw3··on How Chinese Students Experience America
>Vincent also intended to make a career in China, but he had specific plans for his time in the U.S. Once, during a class discussion, he remarked that someday he would purchase both a car and a real firearm. The illegal airsoft pistol that he had acquired in high school shot only plastic pellets. In 2017, when Vincent ordered the gun, it had been delivered to his home at the bottom of a rice cooker, as camouflage.

If I ever visit America, like Vincent the second thing I am going to do is to visit an American gun range. I too wish to experience a real gun (semi-automatic or automatic) instead of air pistols.

i67vw3··on CUDA Is Still a Giant Moat for Nvidia
AMD is a deeply unserious company. They could have made boatload of money for shareholders like Nvidia did, but the AMD management looks very bad to me.

Shareholders of AMD should look into it and do some firings of top Executives/CEO until morale improves.

i67vw3··on Why did the biggest ape go extinct?
>With an estimated height of 3 metres and weighing a hefty 200–300 kilograms, Gigantopithecus blacki was the largest primate to ever roam Earth.

It would be pretty crazy to see a 3m ape roaming around. Evolution is quite interesting.

i67vw3··on Amazon's contracted logistics company refuses to pick up my return package
Bezos boasts about Amazon customer support (call center), they will surely sort out this mess.

Later on after the timeline if they collect the penalty, then you can take Amazon and Supplier to Consumer Courts of EU/Spain and might be able to get compensation and apology.

i67vw3··on Amazon's contracted logistics company refuses to pick up my return package
There must be a way that Amazon support might be able to help.
i67vw3··on Community of Twitter bot accounts interacting with eachother
Twitter now X is full of blue check spam users (humans and bots) from India, Vietnam, Nigeria, Pakistan who spam absolute garbage under big accounts and get to the top of reply section.

I stopped visiting the site as it irritated me a lot.

Main problem is the executives at 'X' added monetization to blue check users in an automated fashion instead of manual verification. New accounts can easily get fake 500 followers and 5 million views by spamming nonsense subsequently earning more than $8 per month and getting a profit. The site right now is absolutely cooked (totally ruined).

To solve it, users should be able to get blue check for $8, but monetization should be manually enabled for accounts case by case basis. The main criteria should be the account does not spam, if violated the $8 (or $100) can be siezed by X thereby creating a financial enalty.

i67vw3··on Federal Killjoys Tell States to Stop Putting Jokes in Highway Signage

i67vw3··on Dutch man sabotaged Iranian nuclear program without Dutch government's knowledge
I think he was a simple AVID informant who may have thought he had planted a audio/video recording device on behest of AVID and not the virus.

A local news outlet states that he was an 'avid motorcycle rider' meaning he was an expert at riding motorcycles. Such a rider has low chances of getting into an accident than average.

Or the accident was a mere coincidence.
