eknight15··on Drive File Stream launching to all G Suite customers
Non G Suite customers can continue using the Google Drive app, it's just renamed to Backup and Sync: https://www.google.com/drive/download/
eknight15··on Why I can’t have conversations using Twitter (2014)
I like the idea of a text "attachment" but I could also see it being used negatively.

e.g. I tweet something positive in the 140 characters, and in the attachment I have something offensive. It's similar to the editing tweet problem.

There was some press about expanding the limit https://www.recode.net/2016/1/5/11588480/twitter-considering...

eknight15··on SoundCloud cuts jobs, closes SF and London offices
Is there a Soundcloud alternative (that allows for user uploads)?

8tracks and SoundCloud have been my home for years, sad to see them both struggling.

eknight15··on The nearly 5M US Census Blocks with zero population (2014)
Despite having a population of more than 310 million people, no one calls 47 percent of the USA "home".

Wow wouldn't have guessed it was that high. I'd like to see the same map but excluding national parks/public spaces.

eknight15··on Ask HN: What's your working day like?
Plot twist: you're 21
eknight15··on Big Tech Company Salaries Are Hurting Startups
It's about location. Google salaries in Boulder, CO are not that high.
eknight15··on Is Private Browsing Really Private?
Certainly. I don't work on Chrome, but I'm being sincere and I'm curious of the use case. There may be a better solution here.
eknight15··on Is Private Browsing Really Private?
Is there a reason you don't use the people switcher? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2364824?co=GENIE.Pl...

How is the discovery compared to SoundCloud?
eknight15··on Ask HN: If you could live and work somewhere, where would it be?
Moved to Boulder 18 months ago and it was a great decision. That being said, IT'S AWFUL STAY AWAY.
eknight15··on Once mocked, Facebook’s $1B acquisition of Instagram was a good move
I used Instagram when it first came out as a way to put filters on my photos, I didn't realize it was posting to a social network until 6 months later.

Luckily none of the photos were too embarrassing.

eknight15··on The Ivy League Doesn’t Need Taxpayers’ Help
ooo thanks!
eknight15··on The Ivy League Doesn’t Need Taxpayers’ Help
Related: I wish more schools could/would adopt the Ivy League's financial aid model. Free (with room and board) if your family makes under ~$65k, and you only pay a small percentage if your family makes up to $150k - depending on the school.

Stanford is free (excluding room and board) for families making under $125k - http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/01/pf/college/stanford-financia...

eknight15··on Introducing Marketplace: Buy and Sell with Your Local Community

eknight15··on How Nextdoor reduced racist posts
Great to see design changes that have a positive social impact.

I really like Nextdoor, it's one of the few social networks I feel good using.

eknight15··on Building Soundcloud's iOS App; in-depth retrospective
The iOS app is one of the current instances of form over function. It's far too minimal. I use the web app and mobile app everyday, I much prefer the web app.
eknight15··on Women’s Gymnastics Deserves Better TV Coverage
My issue is with NBC's rights to the coverage. I've seen way too many articles now with entertaining headlines and info, but no video of the actual occurrence because NBC has the rights. If you're lucky you'll find a tweet of somebody filming their TV screen.
eknight15··on Women’s Gymnastics Deserves Better TV Coverage
Although it's quite buggy (particularly with Chromecast), doesn't NBC Sports allow you to do that? I've watched most all the prelims I was hoping to watch. Of course you need a TV provider to login.
