dualboot··on Cheese Paper: a text editor specifically designed for writing
This looks very inspiring! Thank you for sharing it!
dualboot··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
Russia took the US with social media and an election. Not bullets.
dualboot··on AMD RDNA 4 – AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series Graphics Cards
The 3090Ti, while still an excellent card is hardly "newer hardware" at this point in 2025.
dualboot··on Nostalgia for Physical Media
| The one huge advantage of digital media is that it doesn't degrade in any meaningful way (aside from random tracks being accidentally deleted

That assumes you're using a storage platform that routinely validates the integrity of the data at rest.

dualboot··on Nvidia's RTX 5090 power connectors are melting
So funny because the only reason the 5090 has 32GB of RAM is because AMD put 24GB on the card they released against the 4080.
dualboot··on ASCII porn predates the Internet but it's still everywhere (2019)
Your lack of understanding of the history of the internet is really not any of my business nor concern.

dualboot··on ASCII porn predates the Internet but it's still everywhere (2019)
Predates the web but not the internet.
dualboot··on Valve says Steam users don't own a thing, GOG says its games can't be taken away
It's fundamental to all non-free software.
dualboot··on My Homelab Setup
Just means that you're getting shit done.

If I see cable management, it just tells me that they spent more time doing that than labbing.

dualboot··on Apple introduces M4 chip
Those aren't VMs -- they're containers.
dualboot··on Super Micro Computer has gone from an obscure server maker to $60B market cap
Indeed. An OOB interface is something you should always handle like radioactive material. It's volatile, powerful, and should be handled with extreme care and caution.
dualboot··on Prime Video cuts Dolby Vision, Atmos support from ad tier–and didn't tell subs
This is not even remotely true.

Patriot is amazing.

dualboot··on Bad bots account for most internet traffic? Analysis
I'm not defending the validity of this article but it is very rare that Netflix, Youtube, or any other stuff backed by the big CDNs(Content Delivery Networks) cross actual metered transit connections(for the networks, not including what the end user has to pay for their servivces.)
dualboot··on Interview with Jeff Geerling
Jeff is awesome, and only mentioning it because I have the same experience with Adrian Black's videos (Adrian's Digital Basement.)

I would have killed for this kind of content as a youth.

dualboot··on RIP to my 8-port Unifi switch after years and years of Texas outdoor temps
I remember when Ars Technica was a forum with a token website attached.
dualboot··on Announcement regarding possible offer
Runa is already a major stakeholder in MariaDB.

Recently, the MariaDB board started to pursue additional private equity and a dilution of shares and this is part of Runa's response.

dualboot··on Twitter has officially changed its logo to ‘X’
This. Twitter has been the bane of billionaires, aspiring billionaires, and corrupt nation-states for a long time now.
dualboot··on Be worried about what’s going on at Turner Classic Movies
From the headline I assumed Ted was back to colourizing all of the classics again.
dualboot··on How I installed TrueNAS on my new ASUSTOR NAS
Just want to throw out there that people should be allowed to be wrong. Especially if they've shown the capacity to recognize their mistakes and own them.

Yeah, we cringe but who ever actually learns something without making some mistakes along the way?

If we spent all of our time dealing with the anxiety of trying to never be wrong -- most of us wouldn't be able to function.

dualboot··on Rock and Roll Drums: All You Need to Know
I think this says more about the general state of guitar playing than anything else.
dualboot··on Rock and Roll Drums: All You Need to Know
Same, but a two door '89 Grand Am with a 24" Kick drum in the front passenger seat.
dualboot··on Dingo, an open source robot dog
The BoM has a lot of overpriced versions of common parts, as well.

It's not quite as bad as it seems at first blush.

dualboot··on Apple halted M2 chip production in January amid 'plummeting' Mac sales
My biggest issue with the early Airs is that they were so aggressive with how thin the display is, that the LCD is often damaged by the bag you keep it in from the outside.

A replacement display is basically 70+% the cost of the entire machine.

AppleCare had to replace two of them on my Sandy Bridge MacBook Air. They blamed the bag I kept it in(when replacing it the second time), but they also sold me the bag.

dualboot··on 3Dfx Voodoo Memory Upgrade – 6MB Mod [video]
I disagree as technologies like DirectStorage and equiv. mature and are adopted.

In addition, undersized vram amounts is one of the ways in which Nvidia limits the usable life of their video cards.

dualboot··on Apple introduces Apple Pay Later
Lots of answers here but for the merchant it's an alternative to a "sale price" to drive a transaction.
dualboot··on These Stupid Trucks are Literally Killing Us
They're more deadly to anything that encounters them in an accident that is smaller than them.
dualboot··on The Steam Deck is on sale for the first time ever
Unless you're planning to immediately replace the SSD yourself, I recommend going with the 256G version.

The 64G version uses an eMMC drive, which might as well be a microSD card itself.

That said, I use the 256G NVMe version with a few microSD cards and it's been an amazing experience. Games have slightly longer loading times when played from microSD but that's almost completely irrelevant because of how well the deck handles resume from suspend/sleep.

dualboot··on Moving my PC into my rack in a 2U case
technically a Mid-Size tower. There really aren't any Full-size tower cases anymore.
