deserialized··on Ask HN: What code did you actually end up reusing?
Lots of code for systems provisioning, VPN creation, virtualzation, boiler-plate file handlers, pipelines, spline generation, camera and character controllers, authentication flows, infra-as-code....

There's very few times reinventing the wheel is the right decision and even if you think it is, chances are someone else on github did it better and already has a community built around solving that exact problem and you should learn their tooling instead of adding to the pile.

I see chefs use these daily at the local food court to prepare Asian dishes. Your comment doesn't track with reality
deserialized··on Google Earth 3D Models Now Available as Open Standard (GlTF)
Yes, and it was much higher quality than what the videos here show in terms of texture resolution at street-level

Either a massive mental breakdown or incredible parody

Is it cool? Yes, very

Photo realistic? No

If I was developing a competitor to Flight Sumulator its a fantastic asset

If I'm developing a first person experience that isn't from an airplane, not so much

I appreciate that this exists but it's far from the best, nor the only large-scale geometry asset for a cityscape, though by volume has more cities.even if the geometry is more rudimentary than other solutions

Playing the world's smallest violin for all the tech bros drowning in GPUs but unable to figure out how to pivot to a hosting company or running GPU-enabled jobs instead. So very sad for them and their 1000 rtx 3070s that nvidia reported as revenue for their gaming business.
deserialized··on Cloud exit pays off in performance too
Uhh yeah, that's what happens when you jump 2 cpu generations and now have 50%+ better single threaded performance. You'll feel the same way again next time you refresh those dells with whatever the new hotness is at that time.

America has to find a way to keep all the sugar plantations and beef/dairy land we violently established relevant so sugar, dairy, meat and corn go in everything. Anything less would be communism /s

deserialized··on Ask HN: How to build GPU compute marketplace?
It's just a remote docker context on a machine with the nvidia driver and container runtime already installed that you rent by the hour.
deserialized··on Ask HN: Azure startup credits are a bait and switch?
the right workloads
deserialized··on After 30 years, a father is exonerated in 'Satanic panic' case
Yes, it is - but that would upend the 'only two genders/sexes' status quo and we can't have that. Imagine the mass panic and moral decay that would ensue.

Why bother loving your kid for who they are when you can just ask the docker to slice them up before they can consent? Or deny them access to Healthcare based on your own feelings because you really like your kids genitals...

It's a bridge/comfort thing until you've learned to cook with a new set of ingredients.

Once you can properly season your tofu, sietan etc... the imitation meats kind of just become a novelty.

deserialized··on Ask HN: Azure startup credits are a bait and switch?
For the right workloads, yes. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/azure-arc/#infras...

If that were true circumcision and forced surgery on intersex kids would be banned too.

Maybe if you're from FAANG land. I took 10k cut (90k to 80k) from my salary leaving Seattle but gained a union, 20 more days of vacation, a 8% holiday bonus, 90% cheaper insurance, and 500$ less in rent per month in Amsterdam
deserialized··on Anti-porn bills could force device makers to censor sexual material
What porn have you been reading at the public library champ?
deserialized··on Anti-porn bills could force device makers to censor sexual material
What's lacking here is any sort of definition for 'porn', just another 'porn bad' regurgitation
deserialized··on Anti-porn bills could force device makers to censor sexual material
Dogmatic and wrong but at least you said it with confidence.

This simplistic line of 'porn bad' is just the pretense for labeling anything out of line with your religion's prescribed morality as pornohrafic and therefore worthy of being expunged by violent means. This ideology never stops at videos containing nudity or sex but continues on to being directed at music, literature, women who don't cover their heads, Transgender people, and so on.

It's the exact justification currently used by conservative turbo-karens to ban books from public libraries that contain any trace if LGBTQIA+ content, histories that acknowledge the slave trade and racism, or even basic health information about periods.

deserialized··on Private opulence, public squalor: How the U.S. helps the rich and hurts the poor
What words would you prefer to describe adherents to an ideology that seeks to use colonization as a means to capture the public assets of another sovereign nation into private ownership for the benefit of a small number of capitalists then? And what words would you prefer to use to describe those who seek to undermine their efforts?
deserialized··on Private opulence, public squalor: How the U.S. helps the rich and hurts the poor
You're going to apply that moniker to any criticism of the status quo if it comes from an opponent of said status quo so why bother engaging with you at all?

What facts do you have to show you're even capable of detaching from you own bias enough to properly determine what is and is not objective or even bother reading the evidence if it came from someone the colonial capitalist hegemony dislikes?

You ask for facts yet discount the provided evidence without even reading it. Seems you dont actually want facts at all.
