ukraineally··on Zelensky urges Biden, NATO to impose “no-fly zone” over Ukraine
>You can always surrender and give your freedom away. Is this what you would choose if USA was attacked by China?

China hasn't had a war of aggression in how long?

China has all the factories and a standing army of like 600 million. If China wished, they could probably do significant expansion. But at what cost? To what benefit?

We as a species has discovered that war is pointless. You can simply buy everything you ever wanted at much lower cost. The cost of the war properly invested in yourself will set you ahead far more than what a war will bring.

ukraineally··on The U.S. and NATO must fight
We don't though. Ukraine never joined any military alliances. They didn't take the risk of needing to protect us and thusly we never took the risk of protecting them. Adding to a war does not end it.

However, we can absolutely drop all relationships with Russia. Isolate them to their own borders. Their Sochi race track will be quiet. Russian chess doesnt exist today. Various other sports dont exist for russia anymore.

Russia is no longer on the world stage.

ukraineally··on Zelensky urges Biden, NATO to impose “no-fly zone” over Ukraine
You dont end a war by adding to it.
ukraineally··on [dead]
Hard to deny videos and pictures of destroyed russian equipment. Hard to deny the reality that they have not captured key cities. Impossible to deny how united the world stands against Russia.

Something that seems obvious, there's a major proxy war going on. Ukraine just happens to be the ground. This is why Russia is losing so badly.

ukraineally··on Russia's financial meltdown and the global dollar system
>I thought the point of sanctions is to inflict enough financial damage to the Russian people in the hope that they will start to turn on Putin?

Primary of primary purposes is to reduce their ability to fund a war. War is very expensive, the reason for war can never be resources these days. These sanctions have certainly put a threshold of this war probably around 6 months.

Putin expected this to be over in 72 hours, he kind of needed it to be over in 72 hours.

The secondary possibility is that the Russian people oppose this and overthrow the government. That would be an ideal situation. I dont think that's necessarily high on what will happen.

If sanctions fail and an accident happens like invading or shooting at NATO. We won't be post-war. We start a world war in which Russia loses... just look how unified the world is against Russia.

ukraineally··on ‘They're fooled by Putin’: Chinese historians speak out against Russian invasion
This seems evident.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had spoke a few days ago that they respected the sovereignty of Ukraine.

"China firmly advocates respecting and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries," Wang said, according to a statement from China's Foreign Ministry on Friday. "This equally applies to the Ukraine issue."

When Putin was talking about their 'no limit alliance' a few weeks ago, China was most likely aware that Russia was about to recognize the 2 new republics. China almost certainly didn't know Russia was about to invade Ukraine.

In fact, it looks like all this talk about China invading Taiwan was really Russian propaganda to turn us against China.

Really when you look at the facts, China really hasn't started aggressive wars.

I feel like we have all been fooled by Putin.

ukraineally··on Would Vladimir Putin use nuclear weapons in Ukraine?
I'm not telepathic, but no I don't think so. The nuclear bombs are to scare off NATO for the most part.
ukraineally··on Russia's financial meltdown and the global dollar system
>What if Russians (the ones with power to do so) decide to take the world with them?

Traditional military is being wrecked by underdog Ukraine and probably massive proxy war. Russia is losing big time.

Evil will burn down the world to rule over the ashes.

Everyone is looking to the Russian people who must prevent this evil from happening. They must rise up and overthrow their government.

Lets be realistic, if Russia does nuke the world. Literally nobody can sit back. The nuclear winter and nightmare of Earth would harm them just as much as anyone else. Even if the prediction of nuclear winter isn't true... it's only a matter of time that Russia goes after everyone else they didnt nuke already.

The entire remaining world immediately lays waste to Russia after they do this.

ukraineally··on Ukrainian president signs formal request to join the European Union
EU is certainly on their side.

The decision before the EU would be to actively join the war against Russia.

ukraineally··on Russia supplied 7% of U.S. crude oil imports in late 2021
This is due in large part because of Russian agents getting Canadian oil sources cancelled.

The USA needs to stop buying conflict oil.

ukraineally··on Russia's financial meltdown and the global dollar system
The point of sanctions is to show the world that economic collapse is worse than war.

How many Russians know they can't access their money? How many didn't bother to show up to work because they won't have customers. Knowing their boss can't pay them. How many Russians see that the troops aren't even near these new republics... that this was an invasion.

And the war is going very badly for Russia against a definite underdog. Russia is rushing to peace talks because they are losing.

If we as the human species can show even a nuclear power like Russia is unable to win a war of aggression because of sanctions. We become post-war. We can start working together worldwide to raise everyone up.

ukraineally··on Ask HN: Is anyone else genuinely scared that this is the start of WW3?
There is a difference between justified anxiety, general butterflies, and anxiety disorders. I'm not your therapist so I cannot say but absolutely. This is a major world event with major consequences to people's lives.

The reality is that Russia invaded a sovereign nation. However, that nation never joined any military alliances. So we are not going to defend them.

What seems evident however, Russian special forces are getting their ass kicked in Ukraine and the general troops coming in behind are going to get wiped. Russia is about to come up against general mobilization of highly motivated VERY well supplied freedom fighters.

I'm also pretty convinced there's massive degree of proxy war going on. Everyone's special forces are in ukraine wiping Russians off the map. Everyone has basically declassified Russian troop movements. The Russians can't win.

When a country starts a war like this and after only a few days of losing spectacularly... they call for peace talks. They know they screwed up pretty big time. Russia will be paying for this for a long time.

ukraineally··on Russia and Belarus banned from holding world chess events
The russian chess community, except for 2 douches, have come out against the war.

The FIDE presidents may have had former lives where they might have conflict of interests, but their love for chess exceeds their love for putin.

People see what is going on.

ukraineally··on Turkey to implement pact on access to shipping straits due to Ukraine war
I researched Turkey quite a bit recently.

Largely speaking, the Crimean naval base that this all has been about originally appeared to be largely due to Russia against Turkey.

In Syria and Libya, they aren't on the same side of the conflict.

Many years ago Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet. Putin said Turkey stabbed them in the back over this one. Month later Erdogan had a coupdtat which he survived. Russian ambassador got assassinated. They eventually had a peace summit and Russia lifted sanctions. They both backed Maduro in venezuela. They tried to repair relations.

But more important, over the next 5 years. practically every economic problem was blamed on the russians. In my own personal analysis, they were completely founded. For whatever reason Russia was doing this I don't know. Mind you, Russia is surrounding Turkey with lots of military. But Turkey is NATO. But for the most part turkey has been trying to improve relations with russia.

This change in demeaner by Turkey will be a strong message.

ukraineally··on Scoop: CNN to dull its liberal edge
CNN was great, superb reputation, back in the day. They changed and not for the better. CNN is fake news because they became political activists instead of journalists. Their goal was just non-stop attack on Trump.

In the short term, your reputation take a hit every time you post ridiculous self-contradictory stuff.

CNN April 4, 2017: Everyone should have paid family leave: https://archive.fo/95N8h

Trump May 22, 2017: Trump's budget to include paid family leave: https://archive.fo/3w6ZL

CNN political activist May 30, 2017: How paid family leave hurts women: https://archive.fo/uH6yn

Political activists don't care. CNN's reputation takes a hit every time they do this. Eventually CNN would take critical damage. Which has happened, their ratings are down 70-90%.

In 3 minutes this video shows the problem of CNN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hXdjYwcgYU

What CNN must do now is rebuild their reputation. They need to toss aside all the toxic political activism. Will they do it?

ukraineally··on Plane Belonging to Russian Oligarch Alexander Abramov Is in San Francisco
checks twitter. Yep still banned. Cant help sorry.

I was simply discussing the reality that diplomacy is over. That the Russian people would need to show us something rather specific to reopen diplomacy at this point.

This political opinion according to twitter deserves a ban. Well, the reality is that a very large number of people will be breaking this rule the same way. This is without question a simple fact.

ukraineally··on Plane Belonging to Russian Oligarch Alexander Abramov Is in San Francisco
This is coming out now. The Russian propaganda has been operating on traditional media to large degree but much much worse on social media.

At exactly the same time, how many people have been banned on twitter lately for political opinions on what should happen to Putin? While they allow this russian propaganda?

Sure looks to me like Twitter is pro-putin.

ukraineally··on U.S. banks prepare for cyber attacks after latest Russia sanctions
I kind of read this and feel like... what have they been doing until now? Have they not been under constant APT threat?
ukraineally··on Russians Rush for Dollars as Sanctions Threaten Ruble Collapse
There are an awful lot of videos showing russians lined up at atms. You can only withdrawal $20? Not going to be buying much with that. Most currency exchanges consider their currency worthless.

If the bank run doesnt crush their economy, why even show up to work? You know your employer might not pay you. You know your customers will hoard any money they do have and stay home.

This is going to be insanely bad for the average russian. Will this inconvenience be enough to get the average russian to protest or even overthrow their government? That's their choice to make, if they dont overthrow the government... they support their government's decisions.

ukraineally··on Government of Canada prohibits Russian aircraft to enter Canadian airspace
CF18s have turned back Russian air force MANY times. Back during financial crisis the Russians were coming into our territory often. Obviously no shots fired, Russian pilots were very lost.

This notam isn't about military. CF18s can easily send commercial planes packing.

Russians won't be sending military planes our way. Airspace incursion by military planes would be article 5 instantly. Russian military is losing to Ukraine. NATO actively joining into the war would be a roll. Russia would fall over so quickly, the more difficult task would be deciding who gets what territory.

ukraineally··on Plane Belonging to Russian Oligarch Alexander Abramov Is in San Francisco
1 thing is for sure, american intelligence will know exactly who and what was aboard. I suspect that plane won't be taking off again.
ukraineally··on Russia-Ukraine Warning Update: Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment February 27
>Both Western governments and private parties have been publicly showing extraordinary amounts of intelligence on Russia troop movements, disposition, and likely intentions, and I can only imagine that that Ukraine is getting much more than what is public. Limiting one side’s ability to generate surprise really shifts the balance.

Oh ya, drones, awacs, satellites. Every step by every russian solider is recorded.

Whereas Russia has to track literally everyone? General mobilization means everyone is your enemy.

Then you have the simple reality that there is no doubt a very significant proxy war going on. Russia can't even admit to this or tell the troops because it would destroy their morale. Behind every bush is a navy seal... id shit my pants as well.

ukraineally··on Russia orders block on foreign clients' bids to sell Russian securities
>If the prices are right, there's bound to be buyers. If you can get some of BP's stake in Rosneft for kopeks on the ruble, why not throw some cash at it?

You get ownership in something that might not exist in the future? Your money, your risk. Feel free I guess.

If you're expecting putin to be assassinated and the war to come to an end in a few days. Might make sense... but you're better putting all your investment in lottery ticket, it's lower risk.

ukraineally··on Russia orders block on foreign clients' bids to sell Russian securities
>I'm guessing that hump in the Russian yield curve is about to be more like the Burj khalifa than a camel

There won't be a curve, it will be a yield cliff taller than the burj. Mind you, they were already at 10% interest rates and inflation. Economists are going to need to invent new words for how much of a failure the Russian economy will be.

People might as well not go to work, they know their employers wont be paying them; even if they did pay them, the amount will be meaningless. Might as well take to the streets.

But dont worry, russian central bank says they are solvent... despite the reality that max withdrawals are $20 and lineups are very long. LOL!

ukraineally··on Russia-Ukraine Warning Update: Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment February 27
Nothing much changed today. The russian special forces are getting wrecked and we knew the reg force troops would convoy behind. The reg forces will take tremendous losses against general mobilization. Their morale is bad now? oh man...

Dare I say, Russia is losing this? The Russian troops are much trashier than expected and/or there's some serious proxy war going on right now. Zelensky is for sure being coached by some serious folks.

Today I saw a ton of russian propaganda that didn't even make any sense. It makes me think Russia was given some pretty serious false impressions about what they started.

When the aggressor starts talking peace after only a few days of complete failure... They screwed up pretty big and they know it.

ukraineally··on Russia demands Google restore access to its media YouTube channels in Ukraine
Unfortunately, there are connectivity issues detected in your region.
ukraineally··on Putin puts Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert
>That is basically what they are doing now, sit back and do nothing.

Ukraine never joined any military alliances. They never took the risk of needing to defend someone else, but in so doing meant they never got us to back them. That was their decision.

>Just some economics sanctions...

You don't end a war by adding to it. These sanctions will destroy the russian people. The russian people are innocent in all of this. If the Russian people do not rise up and overthrow their government. Then the sanctions were not inconveniencing enough for them to do that. Through their actions proving their collaboration.

If we can end this war by sanctions, crushing a nuclear power. The fear of global sanctions will be a message to every single person on Earth that war is no longer possible. We will evolve as the human species to be warless. This will be amazing.

The Russian people have a decision in front of them.

ukraineally··on Russia’s way of conducting urban warfare bodes ill for Kyiv
>The most important battle was, again, for Kyiv. Russia failed to seize an airport on its outskirts on February 24th, the first day of the war.

Spetsnaz airborne were routed day 1. Was it really just Ukrainians? Or did they have some proxy help?

>Despite its impressive resistance, the city faced the prospect of imminent encirclement.

General mobilization is a huge factor here. Russian troops are fighting against people who have nothing left to lose. encirclement doesnt matter, when they enter the city they will lead with spetsnaz because if they don't... they will take tremendous losses. Russia hasn't even started to see the real resistance yet.

ukraineally··on Russia gives Ukraine deadline for decision on talks in Belarus
Second link is a standoff where China maintained peace.

First link did have some death, but for the most part China backed off and was trying to deescalate the situation? This is also India, who aren't slumps. India being generally considered the aggressor because they felt some road construction was in disputed land? Pakistan held India responsible for the entire thing. Europe found the aggression from india was unwarranted.

In fact, I look at both of those as China doing the right thing.

I take both links as evidence for my position.

ukraineally··on Putin puts Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert
Like, if they launch on Ukraine. The nuke will go off on its target. Do you feel like the rest of the world who is anxiously watching what is happening will sit back and do nothing?
