Anyhow there's plenty of sources out there repeating the bit about aid (it was part of an EU leader's speech) although I will admit, Googling is hard right now (lots of 'relevant' searches aren't very relevant it seems, see recent complaints about Google on HN). The specific number I heard from a Ukrainian source so hard finding 'journalistic quality' info on that. But plenty of English news outlets saying the EU will provide 'fighter jets' to Ukraine (and everyone knows exactly who has the same jets Ukraine currently uses).

will provide vs just received is a big difference. Nothing confirmed yet.

Some reports they were delivered hours after the announcement (which was half a day ago). But yes, will have to wait and see for real confirmation.

I wonder how well they can protect them and shield them from Russian missiles/artillery/planes etc. I know they have some of the sunken concrete hard hangars - but Russia will be strongly motivated to take them out/make a deal. 55 MiG 29's is a powerful force, but the might of Russia has been constrained so far. With the A-A missiles from various NATO places the Ukraine is becoming too expensive to flatten. With the rage of the elites and other 'garchs - the time for a change draws nearer...

You dont end a war by adding to it.

I hope there is still some way to negotiate a peace. It could be the case that Putin is a madman but I also believe that he was forced into this because of what he _PERCEIVED_ is NATO aggression (like putting missiles in Cuba). We've been poking the bear for sometime with no disregard for consequences. If there is way to get him to quit gracefully that would be great. I mean it's not right to accede to Putin's every whim but at the same time to be dismissive of him all the time because of our arrogance is bad too. I could be completely wrong too but there is so much we don't know. Let's not be gung ho again about piling up on him and make him a cornered animal. No one is winning right now.

China hasn't had a war of aggression in how long?

China has all the factories and a standing army of like 600 million. If China wished, they could probably do significant expansion. But at what cost? To what benefit?

We as a species has discovered that war is pointless. You can simply buy everything you ever wanted at much lower cost. The cost of the war properly invested in yourself will set you ahead far more than what a war will bring.

Tibet? East Turkestan? South China Sea?

Russia can end it by packing up and going home.
