This comment is itself a beautiful example of postmodernism. Well, at least my incredibly naive idea of what postmodernism is. I do it that way, intentionally.
When I read “beautiful people” I understood it in the sense of the underlying beauty of the fact that we are somehow sentient beings in a universe of chaos and entropy.
Today some tradies were putting up scaffolding next door to me while I was working at home. They were playing this amazing reggae tune, followed by a playlist of similarly great stuff I’d never heard before. At lunch I went for a walk, and on my way out I went over to ask who put together the playlist. Turns out it was Youtube Music based off the first reggae track. So I figure if you can find that first entrypoint song, that’s different enough from what you usually listen to, the algorithms can take you on quite a journey.
I don’t see why you’d need to consider race at all in this scenario? You find intelligence genes in some people, give them to others. Anything to do with race would seem to be an unnecessary extra step.
I think it’s so you can fit the cents symbol at the end e.g. $6.75c - but this isn’t really used anymore so the dollar sign at the front is a bit of a historical anomaly at this point.
I agree 100%. Marriage works for some, but we shouldn’t assume it works for all. People should be encouraged to seek the model that works for them best. That said, if you have a relationship that works, it’s definitely worth putting time into it in some way.
The problem with this point of view is that each contributor to climate change, by itself, is not especially significant. So if we dismiss each individually as being insignificant, we end up doing nothing about any of them. That’s my perception anyway, if you know of the big, highest priority climate change contributor that should be focused on before the smaller things, please let me know!
Interesting, because one of my pet peeves from going to early 90s gigs was hearing those tinny (to my ears) approximations of acoustic pianos etc. I would have much rather had a freaky synth sound than that! Of course later on, people started using the overly-clean fake piano sound to artistic effect, so I eventually came around to liking it in context.
Lovingly hand-coded HTML, no JS, lightweight, just a place to post my humorous short stories (warning: immature humour and sort-of adult themes). Just a github pages site that I manually edit and push, but perfectly suits my simple needs. Also has a couple of “easter eggs” that I found amusing.
I’ve found instagram to be a good format for comics, and in theory following some good comics would be similar to reading the regular comics page. And yet, I haven’t followed any regular comics. Is it lack of discoverability? Maybe there’s no money in making an insta comic?
I’m not so sure, personally I usually don’t end up having unprotected sex with everyone who comes within a few metres of me in a bar or restaurant so I’m not sure this would give me much more protection than the status quo.
I’m an aspiring author and wanted to put something out there, but found that every platform seemed to have a different way of getting your raw text into its particular editor… are you planning on an easy way to bring things in from more basic sources?
