stansmith··on Pi, PINs and Permutations
One of the other articles referenced, about De Bruijn sequences, is much more interesting http://www.datagenetics.com/blog/october22013/index.html
stansmith··on Gray Code
There are many, many, other cool articles on the site.

Once you start reading, you'll spend the rest of the day!

stansmith··on Why cans of soup are shaped the way they are
Thanks, I also liked reading the last article about ice cream.

Your articles remind me how much calculus/math I have forgotten since leaving school and, sadly, how little use there is everyday to use calculus :(

stansmith··on Why ice cream cones are shaped the way they are
Err, are you sure about that? It touches at one point, so that makes it a tangent, so it's perpendicular to the circle. I think it it a right angle.

(This is the internet, so I'm sure there will shortly be lots of posts of: Yes it is, no it isn't, and we'll find out for sure).

stansmith··on Cylinders in Spheres
If you read to the bottom of the cylinder article, there's a link to another blog post by the same guy about other Martin Gardner puzzles, and the 'band around the Earth' puzzle is the first one!

stansmith··on The most efficient way to tessellate circles in a square
I think you have a typo, it should be 'loose' not 'lose'
stansmith··on How to shuffle lists and run a lottery using just a pen and paper
I used to love playing Amidar. I can still sing the tune.

(The guy who is playing in the attached video is an awesome player!)

stansmith··on The 13th day of a month is more likely to be Friday than any other day
Spooky
stansmith··on Why are roller coaster loops not circular?
Love the animation.
stansmith··on Brachistochrones, Tautochrones, Roller Coasters and Cogs

Awesome! I (almost) didn't believe the fish thing. I had to PRT-SCR and use paint.net to change the white to transparent to overlay them. It's real!
