Perhaps there is an opportunity for an open source reimplementation like OpenMW or OpenRA?

I'm reminded of this quote, often attributed to NASA: "Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor."

Someone mentioned macamp. I have no idea though
rocky1138··on Winamp has announced that it is "opening up" its source code
I've felt for a long time that hacker News was dead, then I read your post and it made me warm inside
rocky1138··on Winamp has announced that it is "opening up" its source code
They tried to shove that in at the end but it's easy to one click it away the first time you turn it on
rocky1138··on Raspberry Pi Ltd is considering an IPO
I use an old 1st gen Pi Model B+ as a ppp server for my Tandy 1000 SX to connect to the Internet. I can telnet in and adjust stuff if needed. Very handy and fun to play Zork on sdf.org through it.
rocky1138··on You almost never see a clock at the mall
From the article:

rocky1138··on My productivity app is a never-ending .txt file (2022)
I do this as well, except I tend to stick to markdown for formatting. This file is routinely committed to git.
rocky1138··on Google's once happy offices feel the chill of layoffs
Your story reminds me a bit of what the working environment of Atari was like according to those who were there during it's heyday.
rocky1138··on Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Is in Development
Very happy to read that it uses the same form factor and connections as CM4 did. I was hoping we wouldn't even up with yet another socket.
rocky1138··on Netflix never used its $1M algorithm (2012)
I agree. Netflix died the day they switched to thumbs-up and thumbs-down versus 5-star rating content. My recommended list was so solid for so long and all of that went down the drain.

rocky1138··on Can an artificial kidney finally free patients from dialysis?
As a living kidney donor, I can tell you that it's not all that scary. It's much scarier to be ESRD and suffering the hellish purgatory of dialysis.

The operation is quick and recovery isn't too bad. As long as you have support at home from friends and family it's not terrible.

What struck me, though, was how weak it made me. Walking for the first time in a week was very slow, very sweaty, and put me into a state of extreme exhaustion.

rocky1138··on Doom for 16-bit DOS computers
I took this to mean the assets rather than the code.
rocky1138··on Saving Lives (2004)
I realize at the time it wasn't very easy for most people but a computer that often receives upgrades via ROM is the Atari ST. I (sort of) recently upgraded my 1040. I bet one could produce DOS 6.22 replacement ROMs for the Tandy!
