Its sounds good, but people like you end up over-engineering the solution. AKA making it generic, extendable, etc.. It's pre-mature optimization, i see it from a mile away.
I've been having Soylent for breakfast for 6 months. Super easy, I just put a scoop in a bottle with some protein powder, shake and drink. Tastes fine. A very easy way to get 500 calories in the morning between gym and work. Sometimes I'll do half a cup at night if I'm hungry. It's nice to know that there's a quick meal option that's perfectly balanced nutrition wise.
If salaries were transparent wouldn't that create an incredible amount of animosity between co-workers? When HR has to negotiate and pay someone more to join the company everyone else is going to be extremely jealous. You think people are going to understand? They are not going to. People are not rational. It's more common sense than fear. Disclosing salaries is going to create way more social problems than it solves. Companies aren't forcing anyone to keep their salary secret. People themselves don't want their salaries disclosed, and for good reason. Kind of hard to work together when everyone is reduced to a number.
I know people who work from home and get a lot done, but the general feeling when you get the 'WFH' email in the morning is that the person is taking the day off :\ it's hard for the people taking advantage of it not to create a stigma that effects everyone. Especially to management.
I have to agree that Soylent is pretty great. I have it for breakfast everyday and sometimes dinner. I'll throw half a scoop of protein powder in there as well because I workout. Weekends I'll usually have 2 meals Soylent and 1 meal normal. I like cooking and eating out, but not 3 times a day. Sometimes I just want to get 500 (perfectly balanced) calories in me and go about my business.
Live longer? How many old people have horrible diets, smoke, and are pretty much on track to die at 70/80? Guess what, you can eat all the kale and fruit you want, but you're going to get old and die, all the while people with worse diets are going to live longer than you. It's not fair, but that's life. Eat some fruit, go for a run, get hit by a bus.
I've been using the same OneNote notebook for 10 years with the same experience. Online syncing with the ability to save the notebook locally for backup. Great clients on the web and mobile.
I'm continually travelling from north to south and I feel a lot more people live healthy by the beach so they look good during the year while up north it's easy to bundle up because it's easy to wear long sleeves all the time.
Just imagine how much good that could be accomplished if the time spent simply on meaningless comment on meaningless snark about photo-sharing apps was instead productively deployed.
Yea, in one demo you were standing in a submarine and there were dials everywhere. In another demo you are top of a tall building and if you look all the way down you can see little cars below. Not perfectly clear, but no screen door effect which makes a huge difference.
It's too bad the guy wasn't able to try Crescent Bay. I've tried it and the screen door effect he complains about is gone. It's way better than the improvement from DK1 to DK2.
Agreed. It'd be a lot more competitive if they sold the Surface Pro tablet for the same as the iPad. And have options to pay more for keyboard/3g/disk space - just like the iPad
