So, I read this article and have to disagree with this point that people in very remedial math classes have cognitive issues .

I can think of so many exceptions to this that I have personally encountered. Its usually because of poverty or home schooling and often isnt the fault of the student. I know someone that is far more intelligent than I (I went to a top 3 cs school and have had a very successful career). This person can't do basic math because they were never given the opportunity to learn it. There are also people that are perfectly intelligent, but messed up really badly when they were younger. They should have the opportunity to turn things around.

The problem is that no one will sell me one with a keyboard or way to text people back. A second major issue is that most of them are running google on the back end, either android or a dumbphone OS. I want to get away from that stuff, that's why I want to use the dumb phone .

Pretty much everything. When people ask my opinion on anything, they don't want my opinion, they want an opinion from their class perspective. When they want to know how my holiday was, no they don't. When I am supposed to have visited my family from context (or it's weird if I didn't), yeah I did. I am not allowed to wear things people of my class find professional. I am not allowed to discuss what I really did on my time off (it was a punk show or something like this, probably).

This is not even getting into issues where a lot of people let actual class discrimination fly live in the office, overtly insult people from my background, or say things about being scared regarding being near section 8 people. I could go on for a long time.

I grew up in a very poor socioeconomic situation and became an SWE. The largest challenge wasn't learning the skills. The hardest challenge was throwing away my culture and hiding who I am to get the bills paid. It was also knowing the "correct" socially-coded answers to things, and being able to keep up the upper-class disguise well-enough over long periods. When people discover or figure it out, they discriminate against you in subconscious ways and exclude you.

The V-Bulletin software publishes the database credentials inside of the web root as part of a settings file. You should be able to gain access to the web root from the web host with the correct validation or access to a company email address. From there, search where the settings php file is containing the credentials to the database and read them out. Use them to log into the database. I don't know why the other comments aren't suggesting this as a first step. You should not need a scraper to read the content back out. I've performed this procedure many times with VBulletin and other similar software like PHPBB and SMF, admittedly a decade back at this point.

You really need to deal with the coreboot / firmware issue.

I've got one of the last good Samsung TVs (my opinion). It's pushing 10 years old, one of the first 4k models. There's a separate box for the inputs and it has no ads. I am really reluctant / not sure what I'm going to do the day it goes bad.

I am personally dealing with this right now with Maytag. It was under warranty and they sent someone, but they are taking their sweet time. The people I live with are getting extremely upset with me. Additionally and separately, what you are saying about high paying jobs in a select few cities is true here also. I worked for a company based out of Atlanta and got paid like crap . There isn’t really a lot of tech jobs in the tier 2 cities you are bringing up.

I grew up in rural Appalachia in coal country. there’s no generational money. I am not married and don’t split expenses. I taught myself programming and worked my way up, yeah. I sold all of my stuff to get into the property market in the SF Bay Area (I own a SFH with no family help, no rsu buyout and no partner). This is what I’m suggesting, yes. It sucks, I realize it’s unrealistic . I am just telling you how I got it done. I’m greatly sorry about how things in Canada are going. I wish I did not have to make this unrealistic suggestion.

Hi I hope this doesn’t come off as insensitive. I just wanted to say some things which I realize is a huge edge case but maybe could be helpful to a young talented Canadian.

So I grew up in section 8 housing in the US. This is government housing for very low income. I was able to work really hard and work my way up to buying an SFH worth around $955k CAD on my own as a software engineer. I am in My early 30s and live on my own. It might be possible for a dink tech couple to come here and work in tech for some time and come back to Toronto and buy that way . I know this is super awful that I’m even fronting this idea . I am so sorry this is happening .
