My favourite was when I needed to enter the second and fifth caracter of my password, and seventh and ninth digit from the login number. These are surely hashed in the database! (Metro Bank UK) not banking with them anymore.

Windows keeps waking up for random things, the problem is getting worse with every Windows release and Microsoft keeps removing more and more controls.

Just a few days ago I spent hours trying to fix the constant wake-ups. This time it was a waketimer set by the StartMenuExperienceHost.exe process! [1]

Microsoft already removed the Power Management tabs in Device Manager for most devices (mouse, etc.). They also removed the "Allow wake timers" option in Power Options (Surface pro has very limited power options exposed). They also removed the CSEnabled registry key.

My minimalist coffee recipe is this: put 1.5 tsp ground coffee in the mug, pour boiling water, stir, add milk. Done.

The coffee needs to be good quality for the grounds to sink down, Lavazza always works for me.

Can't comment on how the taxes are spent but having US citizenship can give you access to their job market, in tech this can be a valuable benefit. Op's kids will be able to renounce their citizenship should they wish.

Employers usually look at the last few roles on the CV, many times they don't even read the entire resumé. After a period of stagnation it's always a possiblity to take a trendier role for less pay - if the previous job offsets this relative pay cut, the engineer still won.
