jonnynezbo··on Instacart Closes Latest Funding Round at $3.4B Valuation
We use InstaCart to keep the fridge and pantry stocked at my small company. It works like a charm, and saves us nearly 2 hours a week. You get "free" deliveries with InstaCart Express for $149/year. The website and iPhone app are easy to use, and interaction with the shopper works almost flawlessly. Honestly, it's a no-brainer for us.
jonnynezbo··on Leaving the Mac App Store
Two things:

- I use Focus, and it's awesome

- I prefer to buy outside of the MAS, and always check to see if the developer sells directly before buying there

jonnynezbo··on Swift 2 Apps in the App Store
+1 for mentioning the "Clean Build Folder" issue. I was stuck on that for about an hour yesterday, then I found this post:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/32586144/upgraded-to-swif...

I didn't know about using the Alt key to reveal "Clean Build Folder", and I've been doing iOS dev for years. I'll add this to the list of unhelpful compile errors that are fixed by cleaning the build.

jonnynezbo··on AirConsole – Your browser is the game console, your smartphone is the gamepad
What would be really cool is: your browser is the game console, your gamepad is the gamepad.
jonnynezbo··on Royal with Cheese: A King's Quest Primer
Oh man, I loved Hero's Quest back in the day - even more so than King's Quest. Oh the days of picking locks over and over and over again to gain experience.
jonnynezbo··on About the OS X Yosemite v10.10.4 Update
I had an issue where every page request resulted in 'Resolving host...' for about 10-30 seconds before the page would begin loading. Also, songs took forever to start in Spotify. At first I attributed the problem to a hung Time Machine backup. But, turns out it was caused by Boom 2 for Mac:

As soon as I disabled Boom 2 Remote, which was enabled by default, the problem went away. They acknowledged it in an email to customers:

jonnynezbo··on Amazon launches same day delivery for Prime customers
"In fact, every time Amazon adds a new benefit for Prime members that I can't use or don't want, it reminds me that I must be overpaying for Prime if I'm only using the two day shipping."

That might be your loss aversion demon talking into your ear.

jonnynezbo··on How is Javascript used within the Spotify desktop application?
First off, great Quora answer. I wonder: if the 'notifications' squad comes up with an idea like 'users should be able to disable notifications', do they have to collaborate with the 'settings' squad?
jonnynezbo··on Ask HN: Do you listen to country music?
Sturgill Simpson and Chris Knight.
jonnynezbo··on Ryan Bates Is Back on Twitter
Followup tweet from Ryan: "Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. So many that you crashed my Twitter client."
jonnynezbo··on CLF, a command line tool to search and view snippets in the terminal
The Dash Snippets workflow for Alfred is also pretty useful.
jonnynezbo··on 2015 Chromebook Pixel
Just to clarify: does it extend an Apple warranty from 1 to 2 years?
jonnynezbo··on Newest version of uTorrent has Bitcoin mining offer during install
The link doesn't work: "Account Suspended"
jonnynezbo··on VLC 2.2.0 multi-releases
I've always loved VLC, but these days I typically stream my media using Plex. Is there a good reason to use VLC now that I'm bought into Plex?
jonnynezbo··on Leonard Nimoy, Spock of ‘Star Trek,’ Dies at 83
From the Leonard Nimoy Wikipedia page:

On Twitter, he said: 'I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon
enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP (Live Long and Prosper)'
jonnynezbo··on Thousands of people are watching this guy code a search engine
You can't drop all those post rock bands without giving Mogwai a mention
jonnynezbo··on The Cold-Medicine Racket
I've been using zinc for about 3 years now when I get a cold. It's the best medication I've found. It has a slightly off-putting taste and mouthfeel, but it's worth it IMO.
jonnynezbo··on Ask HN: What book changed your life in 2014?
The Alchemist and 1984
jonnynezbo··on A Question
You're right. That part of my comment is wrong.
jonnynezbo··on Amazon just told me to log into someone else's account – and delete it
I applaud you taking the time to do the right thing. I probably would have just created an email filter, and called it a day.
jonnynezbo··on Apple Maps Connect
This is half-baked. I started the process to add a business, and halfway through I accidentally clicked off of the 'Add Business' popup. It lost all of my info (I thought), so I started over with the 'Add Business' wizard. Once I submitted for approval, I could then see the old entry that I started. But, you can't even delete businesses yet - so now there is a half-filled-out business just sitting there.
jonnynezbo··on Introducing a more powerful Dropbox Pro
I'm already on the CrashPlan Family Plan. I love it. In all reality, I doubt I will get rid of Crashplan any time soon.
jonnynezbo··on Introducing a more powerful Dropbox Pro
Wow. Yes. Exactly like that. Good looking out.
jonnynezbo··on Introducing a more powerful Dropbox Pro
Yea, we need a .dbignore, or something of the sort.
jonnynezbo··on Introducing a more powerful Dropbox Pro
I've been waiting on this for a long time. Now Dropbox might actually be a viable, affordable off-site backup solution.
jonnynezbo··on Dash – Beautiful instant offline docs for almost everything
They probably prefer the customer buy on the website, since Apple get's their 30% cut on App Store sales. However, the App Store apparently gives great exposure to some apps. The Pixelmator creators are fans of the Mac App Store: http://allthingsd.com/20110125/pixelmator-co-founder-mac-app...
jonnynezbo··on Project Naptha: a browser extension that enables text selection on any image
This is pretty cool, but not perfect. Upon copy & pasting the captured text, several of the words and letters are wrong.
