jjjeii3··on Italian ‘king of absentees’ allegedly skipped work for 15 years
No wonder the Europe is on decline and very soon it will be worse than Africa. Laziest employees I ever seen in my life are all from Europe.
jjjeii3··on DevSkiller IT skills report 2021: Demand and hiring trends
Please also note that German software engineers have much less money comparing to almost any other country.

The average salary is 4900 Euro and after tax this will be 2900 Euro !!! Even software engineers in a poor country like Ukraine make more money after tax than that and they also have much lower expenses comparing to Germany.

So why someone living in Germany will spend a lot of time for study, learning all the technologies etc if you will only earn 15% more money than a cleaning guy without any education and who can spend all his free time with friends instead of improving qualification?

So Germany is a failed state for software developers.

jjjeii3··on Surface Laptop 4
Oh great, Home and End buttons are located on the same keys as F8 - F12... So basically you will not be able to use both at the same time with a single click. Microsoft learned from Apple how to decrease developer's productivity (Touchbar).
jjjeii3··on Linux kernel incorrect computation of branch displacements in BPF JIT compiler
Did you report this vulnerability just for free?
jjjeii3··on Google is accelerating reopening of offices and putting limits on remote work
Instead of being thankful to employees for increasing Google stock price by 50% in the last 12 months, Google now try to repress the staff. Another reason not to use Google services.
jjjeii3··on AstraZeneca vaccine doesn't prevent B1351 Covid in early trial
30% of children in Germany have mental issues due to the coronavirus-measures and it looks bad in other countries as well:

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-55863841

This is a typical situation when the cure (coronavirus measures) is worse than the disease.

jjjeii3··on AstraZeneca vaccine doesn't prevent B1351 Covid in early trial
My old mother is against any corona-measures and don't even want to do vaccination. She also meets her friends at least once a week, ignoring the contact guidance.
jjjeii3··on Fire declared in OVH SBG2 datacentre building
White collar jobs are not paid well in the EU. If a saleswoman from a nearby shop has the same salary, why should I care about the quality of my work at all? The entire data center burned down? Fine! There are a lot of other places with the same tiny salary.

As you can see below, a developer expert is only making 24K-63K Euro per year at OVH (in US dollar it's almost the same amount):

https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/OVHcloud-France-Salaries-EI...

after paying taxes you will only get a half of that amount.

jjjeii3··on Reflections on IDEA vs VS Code
Why are desktop Java apps are always so slow? Applications written in other languages (C#, C++, etc.) are much much faster. Even VS Code, written in JavaScript is faster... I tried hundreds of applications and this was always the case and not just with certain applications.

Don't trust anything Bloomberg says. They have zero credibility. For example, they stated many times that all major companies like Google, Amazon and Apple have hardware from SuperMicro Inc., that contains hidden microchips and can spy on the companies by sending data to China... It was proven later that this was fake news.

jjjeii3··on Silicon Valley stays on top as tech salaries climb across U.S.
In public universities yes, but not in private universities. You will also have other expenses as well when you study (rent an appartment, food etc.)

In Germany you don't even need money to only get probation for such a deadly crash incident:

jjjeii3··on Silicon Valley stays on top as tech salaries climb across U.S.
Not only that, but in Germany many companies will not hire you, if you don't have a degree. So you must also spend a lot of time (3-5 years) and money to get a Bachelor/Master degree.

Ukrainian army only had 75 casualties in 2020... and this is on a very small area near the Russian border. The rest of the country is absolutely fine.

It's not a war, but a frozen conflict. Even Wikipedia says that:

Meanwhile, EU salaries are stagnating and it's one of the worst places to be a software engineer. An average salary for a software developer in Germany was 46000 Euro per year in 2020, and don't forget, it's one of the richest countries in Europe. The average in EU is even lower... After paying taxes a single person with that salary will only have 2400 Euro per month (~ 2800 USD). The guy who cleans our house in Germany without any education (an African refugee) makes more money than that. Even my friends from Ukraine (which is a much poorer country) don't want to move there, because in Ukraine they only pay 5% taxes and cost of living is much lower. So they can afford a much better life comparing to German developers.
jjjeii3··on Piracy is not theft, Lost sales don't exist, says Minecraft creator (2011)
No, I mean websites like putlocker etc.
jjjeii3··on Piracy is not theft, Lost sales don't exist, says Minecraft creator (2011)
It's much easier to watch a pirated movie copy than pay for a movie service. Just open a website and select video. Done. Registration is not needed, no payments, no subscriptions etc.

and if you use an app for a movie service, then they will usually install dozens of trackers. Here is the list of trackers used by a tiny app LastPass:

AppsFlyer, Google Analytics, Google CrashLytics, Google Firebase Analytics, Google Tag Manager, MixPixel, Segment

When I use a website, most of trackers are blocked by uBlock Origin, so I don't care that much.

jjjeii3··on WSL Hello Sudo: Face Recognition of Windows Hello on Windows Subsystem for Linux
There is no performance issues with WSL2. It was only the case with the first version of WSL.
jjjeii3··on WSL Hello Sudo: Face Recognition of Windows Hello on Windows Subsystem for Linux
To me developing with WSL2 is now even better than on native Linux - works exceptionally well. I use it with VS Code + WSL plugin and Docker for Windows.
jjjeii3··on Intel Core i7-11700K falls behind AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
A lot of people switched to remove work due to coronavirus and now they need a laptop, so the demand is extremely high for laptops and it's components. It's much easier to do almost any work on a laptop than on smartphone.
jjjeii3··on Zero Bug Tolerance
You don't need to comply with GDPR, unless your business is located in the EU or you have a subsidiary in the EU. There is no legal framework that will allow EU to enforce GDPR overseas, except both countries have an agreement. Due to this limitation, some people including Edward Snowden called GDPR a "paper tiger".
jjjeii3··on Why Discord is switching from Go to Rust (2020)
GO promised to be very fast, but if you check the actual benchmarks:

https://www.techempower.com/benchmarks/#section=test&runid=8...

High-level C# (asp.net) is almost twice as fast as GO in the benchmark... Rust is also in the top 3.

So, why should I use GO instead of C#, if ASP.NET/C# is so blazing fast and requires a lot less lines of code to achieve the same? -> It makes absolutely sense to switch to C# or Rust.

jjjeii3··on Tauri: An Electron alternative written in Rust
Blazor can now also be used to write cross-platform desktop applications with C# similar to Electron:

https://visualstudiomagazine.com/articles/2021/02/17/net-6-p...

C# will then be compiled to WebAssembly.

jjjeii3··on Monolith First (2015)
I heard so many horror stories that some company tried to break up a large monolith to microservices and after X years of working on it, they give up. For example, in monolith you can use transactions and change millions of rows. If something goes wrong, the entire transaction will be rolled back. If you use microservices, you can only use transactions within a single service.

jjjeii3··on Pfizer vaccine reduces risk of serious Covid-19 by 92%, 1.2M-people study finds
The EU has completely failed to (quickly) make a deal with Pfizer and vaccination was mismanaged as you can see from the numbers below.

Vaccination rates by country:

Israel: 73% UK: 23% United States: 16% EU: ~4%

Meanwhile, Spain and Italy lost 11% and 10% of their GDP due to coronavirus (much more than Brexit will ever do to the UK due to Brexit).

jjjeii3··on AWS Babelfish: The Elephant in the PostgreSQL Room?
I worked with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and many other DBMSes. Nothing can beat PostgreSQL.

Oracle's SQL Developer is the worst IDE for databases I ever seen. Oracle DB doesn't support "TOP N" or "LIMIT N" notations and many other useful features...

I like SQL Server more than Oracle and Microsoft provides 2 good IDEs for it (SQL Management Studio and Azure Data Studio). But it has some bad limitations - you can't define ON ... CASCADE on more than one path. You also can't create CTEs with inserts/updates.

PostgreSQL doesn't have a good IDE out of the box. I heard that Azure Data Studio now support it, but didn't try it yet, because I already paid for a commercial IDE that supports PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL also doesn't have a good high availability tooling, but all major cloud providers do this for you. Considering that you get it for free, it is a much better choice than Oracle or SQL Server.
