hundchenkatze··on AirMessage – Android app to interface with iMessage on a Mac
That's not what this is. This runs on an always-on Mac and relays iMessages to and from your Android phone.
hundchenkatze··on Craigstarter: DIY Replacement for Kickstarter
Shopify does have a plugin system, and there are several freemium/paid crowdfunding plugins that seem to require minimal configuration.

hundchenkatze··on Why I Actively Discourage Online Tooling like jwt.io and Online JSON Validators
It's not exactly what you're describing and may be overkill, but you can definitely accomplish this with Qubes OS.

hundchenkatze··on Disney Studios stops theaters from screening Black Panther
Maybe so, but they could have made an exception.
hundchenkatze··on Apple Accidentally Approved Malware to Run on macOS
Did you read the article? It's an automated process. Unless you're referring to our robot overlords there was no malicious employee involved.
hundchenkatze··on Dots don't matter in Gmail addresses
You can see that it's backed by gmail by looking at the MX records.

hundchenkatze··on Scrollbar Blindness
> I could not look at the html for it as it was minimized and not easily searchable.

Give the Chrome dev tools a try. It "un-minifies" the html making it viewable and easily traversable.

hundchenkatze··on Apple ordered to not block Epic’s Unreal Engine, Fortnite to stay off App Store
Then create a free developer account. You only need to pay if you need to sign for distribution.
hundchenkatze··on Scrollbar Blindness
> but loses sight of what is lost.

Literally in this case :)

hundchenkatze··on Apple ordered to not block Epic’s Unreal Engine, Fortnite to stay off App Store
You do, but if I built a game using Unreal Engine then I'd be using my developer account to sign my game.
hundchenkatze··on WebBundles harmful to content blocking, security tools, and the open web
Just like url remapping/obfuscation isn't a unique aspect of WebBundles?
hundchenkatze··on Gallup: 81% of Black Americans Want Police to Retain Local Presence
I think the "defund the police" movement has a very unfortunate name. Many (hopefully most) people don't want to pull _all_ funding from the police. They want to appropriately redistribute funds. That means stopping spend on surplus military weapons and tanks, and instead put more money towards the proper training you mentioned.
hundchenkatze··on Gallup: 81% of Black Americans Want Police to Retain Local Presence
It's not surprising that people still want the police around... they just want to be treated equally when they interact with the police.
hundchenkatze··on Global Mass Surveillance – The Fourteen Eyes
I think you misread (I did too at first) it to mean the cookie consent was on privacytools.io. However, I think they're referring to the Belgium link under the "Key disclosure laws may apply" which links to https://tweakers.net/nieuws/163116/belgische-rechter-verdach...
hundchenkatze··on WordPressiOS Locked by App Store

Yes. https://m.uber.com

hundchenkatze··on Google Update Tanks Traffic
No, this is a link to a different post about the same change/glitch, not the same article. Is this a weak attempt to drive people to your blog?
hundchenkatze··on Uber CEO says its service will probably shut down temporarily in California
> 2) The drivers are outside of Uber's business. Uber is a software and technology company, not a taxi service.

What good is all that software and technology if a driver doesn't pick me up when I request a ride. Uber very much depends on drivers to perform their core function.

hundchenkatze··on Trump fires CEO of TVA over replacing US tech workers with H1B workers
I don't think the person you're replying to was implying the President should already be aware of the issues. Rather, that it's concerning that the best way to convince him to do anything is through a TV ad instead of a more appropriate means of communication.
hundchenkatze··on Show HN: A bookmarking tool designed to help synthesize your web research
Sure, but the value added by klobie is by organizing and presenting the bookmarked sites in a useful way. Take a look at the sample board https://klobie.com/v/8oqy1eg/coronavirus

hundchenkatze··on Amazon gets priority while mail gets delayed, say US letter carriers
Are you the only house on that road? I know a rural mail carrier and a large portion of their customers live on dirt roads and they deliver to them. However, they won't deliver packages to your door if you're the only house on the road and it's over a certain distance.
hundchenkatze··on Wiki.js
I don't think any of the mainstream open-source licenses allow you to retroactively revoke or change the license.
hundchenkatze··on Pinephone – “Community Edition: PostmarketOS” Linux smartphone
Yeah, their site has always been abysmal to use.

edit: to be fair as others pointed out, it's likely that I've mainly ended up on their store after/during the hug of death from hn/reddit.

hundchenkatze··on GitHub was down again
I've been having a great experience with https://sourcehut.org/ as well.
hundchenkatze··on Ask HN: My GitHub account got suspended without any notice
First I don't think your Netscape on Mac argument holds up. The antitrust suit was about IE on Windows.

"[...] the U.S. government accused Microsoft of illegally maintaining its monopoly position in the PC market primarily through the legal and technical restrictions it put on the abilities of PC manufacturers (OEMs) and users to uninstall Internet Explorer and use other programs such as Netscape and Java." [0]

"The plaintiffs alleged that Microsoft had abused monopoly power on Intel-based personal computers in its handling of operating system and web browser integration. The issue central to the case was whether Microsoft was allowed to bundle its flagship Internet Explorer (IE) web browser software with its Windows operating system. Bundling them is alleged to have been responsible for Microsoft's victory in the browser wars as every Windows user had a copy of IE." [0]

I do agree that exclusive control may not be needed. However, Microsoft was engaging in other anti-competitive behavior. It's not like they're restricting Windows users to only use GitHub.

hundchenkatze··on The AirPods Pro “Rattlegate”
Ah, yeah good point. Haha, for the worst hack ever you could override the font the browser users for monospaced font, at least in Firefox[0]. Obviously that breaks other legitimate uses of monospaced fonts. As for it being a poor styling choice, we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)

hundchenkatze··on Ask HN: My GitHub account got suspended without any notice
I am in the "it's not a monopoly" crowd and yes we should definitely use other words to describe companies that do not have exclusive control over a commercial activity.
hundchenkatze··on Ask HN: My GitHub account got suspended without any notice
I don't think many people would consider GitHub a monopoly though.
hundchenkatze··on Ask HN: My GitHub account got suspended without any notice
Couldn't you just switch registrars?
