No, children can not be forced to stand and recite the pledge.

The Supreme Court ruled, in 1943, that it is unconstitutional to compel students to salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

hundchenkatze··on DuckDuckGo makes its 'no-AI' search engine easier to access as its traffic booms
It does: https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/results/syntax

But I guess sometimes it doesn't work??

> Please note: we are aware some of our advanced syntax isn't operating 100% correctly on all queries and are actively working on it. It is unfortunately a non-trivial issue given we get our private results from a variety of sources.

hundchenkatze··on Don't Subscribe So Casually
This is good advice for email/newsletter subscriptions, but that isn't what the article is about.
hundchenkatze··on Show HN: Axe A 12MB binary that replaces your AI framework
Looks like an axe to me. The cutting edge of the axe is embedded into the surface. And the handle attaches near the back of the head like an axe. Most hammers I've seen the handle attaches in the middle.
hundchenkatze··on Jony Ive's OpenAI Device Barred From Using 'io' Name
They don't mention a camera specifically, but it looks like the Wand has a camera in the end of it.

And they mention "Holding and pressing the action button turns the Privacy Light red and allows the agents to see anything you point Wand at."

hundchenkatze··on Genode OS Framework
Then just downvote/flag and move on. Commenting just to complain furthers the derailment, here were are 4 layers in...

imo there's nothing wrong with discussing project names.

hundchenkatze··on Find SF parking cops
I think they're being cheeky. I assume Orchestra is the dystopian company providing the "ShotSpotter" service to SF, and bop spotter is piggy backing on the api.
hundchenkatze··on GitHub is no longer independent at Microsoft after CEO resignation
> Because I have performance/tdp numbers

It sounds like you've already done the work... why not just share the numbers. I'm just asking to see what you claim to have. Unless... you don't have them and you're just making stuff up.

hundchenkatze··on GitHub is no longer independent at Microsoft after CEO resignation
then post the numbers? You're just here doing the same thing, asserting that the efficiency is bad, only using more words.

Performance and efficiency has been great for me. I've never run into rosetta throttling. I've got the numbers - trust me bro.

hundchenkatze··on uBlock Origin Lite now available for Safari
Except there's no easy way to verify that what you get from the store has been built, unmodified, from the public source - afaik.

(I still use AdGuard fwiw)

hundchenkatze··on Perplexity is using stealth, undeclared crawlers to evade no-crawl directives
You left out the part that says Perplexity-User generally ignores robots.txt because it's used for user requested actions.

> Since a user requested the fetch, this fetcher generally ignores robots.txt rules.

hundchenkatze··on Perplexity is using stealth, undeclared crawlers to evade no-crawl directives
auth, If you don't want content to be publicly accessible, don't make it public.
hundchenkatze··on Sign in with Google in Chrome
Yes blame the victim
hundchenkatze··on How to Firefox
Don't bother, I tried asking the same, only to have web browsing mansplained to me in such a generic way that could apply to using a regular browser.
hundchenkatze··on How to Firefox
ok, from this response I can only assume you use FF/Safari/Chrome/etc... you've just described how the web/browsers/ISPs work.

My browser does all these things too. You initially made a point to imply that you were doing something different than the average person.

I was more interested in the specific tools you use. Sorry I wasn't excruciatingly specific in my question, I forgot what site I was on.

hundchenkatze··on How to Firefox
I'd love to hear more about your setup, and how you access the web.
hundchenkatze··on XMLUI
It is implemented using React.

> XMLUI wraps React and CSS and provides a suite of components that you compose with XML markup.

hundchenkatze··on Systemd has been a complete, utter, unmitigated success
You only need to look those things up once, put it in a snippets.txt file, and then search in the file when you need it.
hundchenkatze··on Waymo rides cost more than Uber or Lyft and people are paying anyway
I’ve never had to get a new card/number after a chargeback.

You just get the charge removed or some amount deducted if it’s approved. You aren’t requesting a new card.

edit: This was for a purchase I made but didn’t receive exactly what I paid for. Now for fraudulent charges I didn’t make, yes they send a new card. I’m in the US, maybe it’s different elsewhere.

hundchenkatze··on HP avoids monetary damages over bricked printers in class-action settlement
> third-party toner requires cannibalizing the chip from original cartridges which I’m too lazy to do

Isn't this exactly the shenanigans being discussed? You should be free to use third-party toner without having to do this.

hundchenkatze··on Perplexity got ads
Here’s a free alternative. (free for federal; $15 for state returns).

Yes, the name sounds like a scam, but I’ve used it without issue for the past 5 years.

hundchenkatze··on A middle schooler found a new compound in a piece of goose poop

hundchenkatze··on macOS in QEMU in Docker
> expect a C&D letter come any moment.

This repo is 4 years old... I don't think it's coming.

hundchenkatze··on Best Buy stores to stop selling DVDs, Blu-ray in 2024
4k content from Netflix does not look as good as 4k content from Blu-ray. Especially for dark scenes, Netflix's stream is full of decompression artifacts making everything grey and blotchy.

hundchenkatze··on Ask HN: Is everyone becoming a Product Manager these days?
Maybe not opinionated, but they should definitely be decisive. I've seen too many PMs just funnel every user request straight to implementation. No thought or care given to what the product should be or do. It ends up being a collection of poorly thought out functionality.
