The more globalized your daily affairs are and the more "scientifically" you think, the more you will be drawn to a unix-time style of thinking. "Humanistic" times are designed to unify everyone around particular rhythms that have the same "names" for when work starts (9), when work ends (5), the middle of the day (12/noon), etc, regardless of where they live (and at the cost of actually meaning the same time wherever you live).
Those are even less meaningful if your schedule is based in weeks and months rather than days, though.
The humanistic factor of time zones is most useful for in-person, social stuff. In every other case I would prefer to tell someone what GMT time I wanted to get on the phone with them.
iOS and Android are the choices. I say pick your poison. If a new choice comes along, I don't see any reason for the dynamics to be any different. People want high quality well-integrated electronics, and you only get that by being beholden to the manufacturer.
An aside, smog is really bad in Salt Lake due to its geography and that is probably one of the reasons they are taking this so seriously.
Moviepass could have a functional formula at 4 movies a month, IMO. Moviepass is the first widespread means of collecting viewer analytics across multiple theaters.
Unlimited viewing doesn't seem to fit the current landscape, even excluding the people that go and see the same movie multiple times. The studios expect to make too much money, and will only accept being boiled slowly.
Does anyone know of a solution to the jank on firefox (perhaps others) when you have a hover scale effect? I figure animating all dimensions and text size instead of scale may do the trick, but that's a pain.
I'd even be okay with indefinitely deferring the re-render at the end of the animation if possible.
It just seems to be a containerization/messaging platform. Like all things in the MS world, it doesn't exist unless it adds 10 new menus and a new configuration file to existing technology
Airbnb dropping react native due to a lack of qualified candidates that were articulate in both the native and javascript realm is a great example. Something can work flawlessly with the right conditions (for instance, developers that understand and can implement the path of least resistance across native and react), yet if its prohibitive to create those conditions you are back where you started.
If the dominant ideology among developers is that learning X language or technology costs more of their career than its worth, it dies out. Same goes for the company and their resources.
The reason they're shitty is because they're heavier weight and "mobile first" usually comes with a certain amount of tradeoffs for other devices. React in and of itself as a means of managing data flow is very elegant IMO.
It just happens that if you tell any random group of engineers to do a full rewrite, they're going to settle on whatever is currently popular.
I don't know whether this is an unpopular opinion (seems like it might be?) but I would never tell anyone to start with a dynamically typed language.
The things that make me talented feel like mind diseases. Pattern recognition is so easily polluted with ruminations and cyclical thinking.
The only way I've been able to cope is by becoming numb. The more uncertainty I acknowledge as existing, the worse I feel. I don't feel particularly good though. Nothing in the world feels like "enough" to occupy my mind anywhere near as much as the negative things.
SSRIs can aid in that numbing. For me it has somewhat. I haven't found that they have given me any sort of increase in motivation or excitement for life, though.
The home screen design is so obvious it hurts -- flip phone UX for a smartphone. "Open and dial".
What's the story with the display? Do you have an actual proof of concept where you have a black and white mode that largely decreases battery life? Is there anything special about it, or does it just play into how OLED displays are locally lit?
I have to imagine that the type checkers would factor in anything that occurs in __post_init__ when evaluating whether the class conforms to the type hints, but it still feels like this python static typing stuff is drifting in the wrong direction.
edit: looks like they have a deal at $60 for 2 years with 40GB, still unlimited domains and users, which to me is the main draw.
I've also read mxroute's writeup on why they use cpanel, and apparently it just made sense to use it for user configuration, and that under the hood it's all a very unusual setup (I don't understand enough about email to be honest).
I really don't understand why people think it's okay to push a perfectly sanitary online gaming atmosphere. To me the whole point is that it's NOT sanitary.
Tim, being the savvy executive and decision maker he will always be, concluded that the only logical choice is to make the decision which will virtually nullify his chance of getting fired. "Your legacy shall not go to waste, Steve...", he said under his breath as he picked up the phone.
I know exactly what you mean. The internet means we become much more accustomed to associating with people with similar interests. I have had a similarly hard time, even having lived all over the US. It's just difficult, especially when your interests are things that are very "independent" -- computers, learning, music (at least for me, since it's not generally the type you can go to a bar and listen to).
The people I'm closest to are all purely coincidental.
Try software competitions maybe? It's really the only place I can think of where I've felt like I could get on with a large portion of the people, but even then I still feel like I have a very different personality.
It's a vicious cycle. I consider myself pretty extroverted, but I just am bored by most people. I'm sure everyone else who I might become friends with has the same problem, and thus none of us ever meet.
Marketers want to make money, and right now stuffing emails with images in favor of proper layout is the only easy way to do it.
Of course google also wants all of your email googling its way through their servers.
These types of apps seem like an incredibly bad idea, because they are diluting what is supposed to be a 100% universal emoticon standard.
