dablya··on A human error caused some sensitive server...
Whoever writes the code that makes it possible for the Hammer to be used when Screwdriver is called for during execution is introducing a bug into the codebase... It's a bug caused by a human, not necessarily the same one that created the Hammer.
dablya··on Judge calls music biz request for $75 trillion in Limewire damages 'absurd'
Can the judge set payment terms? I mean could he find Limewire guilty and set the terms of payment to 1c a year for 75 bazillion years?
dablya··on 70% of the Public Finds Piracy Socially Acceptable
He seems to be making the case that a business model that insists that there is no difference between sharing and piracy is not likely to succeed long term.
dablya··on Why Amazon Isn’t Worried About Apple’s In-App Purchasing Rules
It's either that or "You seem to be glossing over a lot of details to make this sound like a good thing, just because you like Apple and you don't like Amazon and Apple wins in this situation while Amazon loses.".

Definitely one of the two...

dablya··on Amazon launches Prime instant videos, unlimited streaming for Prime subscribers
Where is the PS3!?!?! I'd switch today...
dablya··on Steve Jobs Email Suggests In-App Subscriptions Don't Apply to SaaS?
Like rain on your wedding day
dablya··on TinyGrab abandons iOS because of new App Store rules
Are you saying there is a chance that if somebody like Amazon pulls the kindle app from the store, Apple will remote delete already installed versions?
dablya··on Ruby4Kids: Another initiative to teach kids with Ruby
I'll be damned if I have to start listening to my daughter interrupt my technical conference calls with "you know, you guys could have this already done with a few lines of ruby"
dablya··on The true cost of publishing on the Amazon Kindle
How is this even comparable? Amazon is not forcing anybody to sell content through their channel in order to make the content available on the kindle. I don't think the issue is the amount Apple is charging, but instead that they are forcing content providers to make content available through the AppStore at the same price as elsewhere, and at the same time wanting a commission.
dablya··on I'm a designer who learned Django and launched her first webapp in 6 weeks
"If you’re learning a new language, don’t do tutorials verbatim — take what they’re teaching, apply it to a different product, and you will learn a lot faster."

By the time you're done researching how to apply the concept to a slightly different problem, you've learned much more than the tutorial is covering.

What about going the other way? I'm a developer that is intimidated by any kind of ui design... What do I do?

dablya··on Competitor launches a better product at lower price. How do you respond?
You people need to watch the Wire - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e40s0RELPCs#t=2m04s :)
dablya··on RIP Pandora, Kindle on the iPhone
I've seen similar arguments a lot lately. People are comparing ownership of the iPad to rent or lease type arrangements. Sorry, but you're the one who's just wrong on this.
dablya··on Rhapsody passes on Apple's "economically untenable" sub plans
My understanding of the new rule is if your app is used to consume content bought outside of the app, then your app must offer a way to purchase content/subscription through the app for the same price, with apple getting 30%.
dablya··on Expert Exchange gets narky after snub from Q/A site review
This is the first time I've read anything on that site without having to scroll all the way down.
dablya··on Zen And The Art Of Programming: Beginner’s Mind
How surprised would you be if that stuff ran every second?
dablya··on 10 Reasons To Buy A Tablet (And 5 Reasons Not To)
I'm having a hard time picturing this being comfortable (or more comfortable than having a laptop sitting next to you). Are you holding the tablet above your son the entire time? Don't your arms get tired?
dablya··on Microsoft’s Bing uses Google search results—and denies it
However, you really can't blame Google for pointing out the fact that when you're using Bing, some portion of the time, you're in fact getting stale Google search results.
dablya··on Apple responds: we want a cut of Amazon, Sony e-book sales
My understanding is that it is in fact Apple wanting their 30% (since kinle app already allows people to purchase books from the iPad through safari). I don't think it's a big deal as long as the additional cost is not spread to all kindle content purchasers. iPad users get the ease of use by being able to do in app purchase vs safari, it's only fair the pay the additional costs.
dablya··on Amazon Kindle e-book downloads outsell paperbacks
I don't know... With the vast majority of books having the first chapter available for free, I usually end up only buying once I know I'll enjoy reading it.
dablya··on Ovum Analysts: iPad Will Be Surpassed by Google by 2015
I'm an android fanboy, and I'm still having a hard time understanding the need for a tablet form factor without something similar to the now canceled windows courier interface....
dablya··on Goldman to Offer Facebook Shares Only to Non-U.S. Clients
The idea that lay-investors stand to profit by trading with GS is laughable...
dablya··on The case against water fluoridation
"Nineteen hundred and forty-six. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works."
dablya··on CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta falling for faith healing quackery
If, a few hundred years ago somebody came to you and said, "I spoke to God and earth is not flat.", assuming no further evidence was offered, you'd be completely justified in dismissing that claim as nonsense.
dablya··on Ever wonder what Google's Russian office looks like? Look Here
That meeting room "12 Chairs". There is an old, very popular Russian book made into a movie about a set of 12 chairs and in one of them there are treasures hidden. It's a comedy about how a bunch of con men try to find the chair.
dablya··on MS Exchange “remote wipe” is a terrible, terrible bug
Don't connect personal devices to corporate exchange?
dablya··on Google vs iPhone and Facebook
I can't speak for the people that downvoted you, but I found your use of "advanced" a bit off... According to google what you call advance is standard and html only is basic. So, you're missing some features in the basic version, and use that as your primary argument for google not being able to finishing anything...
dablya··on Google vs iPhone and Facebook
"Why can't I delete ALL spam in GMail at once?"

What's wrong with using the "Delete all spam messages now" link?

dablya··on Reddit: I stopped using a task killer to see if there's a difference. It's huge.
Do you often "hear" articles, regardless of content or relevance to Apple, screaming "Apple does the things they do for good reasons"?
dablya··on China to build giant buses that cars can drive under
First thing that jumped out at me was cars under it trying to make a turn... I think both of those would work with bridges that the bus would use around turns (picture on/off ramps on highway)
dablya··on Airports put pictures of flies on urinals to lessen "spillage." Really.
