clemailacct1··on Ask HN: How did you get rid of your performance anxiety?
I've ended up on TV (local TV news station), gave a talk at Blackhat and a couple other big public facing presentations for various security orgs. The only two things that sure-fire worked for me in this exact situation: getting older and repetition.

The older I got and the more I forced myself to get up there and do public speaking the easier it got.

That whole "imagine them naked" thing is a hilarious hoax for what its worth.

clemailacct1··on Return to Office Is Bullshit and Everyone Knows It
> This, on the other hand, feels bitter. It seems to be coming from a place of hate.

Does it bother you that someone may actually hate something?

clemailacct1··on Past Covid infection protection against re-infection: a systematic meta-analysis
I think the burden of research and citations can also be put back onto you as well. You can fully research this information yourself - it’s trivial.
clemailacct1··on Past Covid infection protection against re-infection: a systematic meta-analysis
How does one stop getting infected?

Your comment is so full of emotion and offers zero insight into how to actually achieve it - therefore, it’s pretty safe to say your advice isnt helpful here.

Masks and vaccinations dont prevent infections in a meaningful way. This is backed by real data and anecdotal data.

clemailacct1··on Gaetz claims he’s seen UAP image that can’t be attached to humans
Comments like these make me feel like HN is turning into Reddit. Not a good thing.
clemailacct1··on Gaetz claims he’s seen UAP image that can’t be attached to humans
Your clear bias and overly emotional responses makes me dismiss want you’re trying to say. Can you try rephrasing everything in a clear and data driven approach?
clemailacct1··on X, the moonshot factory
I, no joke, encounter 4-5 of those white Jaguar driverless Waymo vehicles that are covered in sensors and cameras every day. They're all over my neighborhood. I believe (but havent confirmed) that normal folks can use them in this area too.
clemailacct1··on Stay or Leave: Manager Admitted I am on PIP because quota
Unfortunately as someone who worked there in a management role for over 9 years, it’s heard of and talked about - but rarely directly.

I’m shocked OP was told the truth.

clemailacct1··on People are paying to break printers with sledgehammers in smash rooms
I’m surprised to not see an Office Space reference mentioned yet.
clemailacct1··on Disturbing facts about ProtonMail (2021)
I use it. I’d consider myself a professional who has worked in InfoSec for FAANG for over 13 years and have given multiple Blackhat talks and one defcon talk.
clemailacct1··on Decoy Defenses: How Honeypots Sweeten Cybersecurity Strategies
Yeah, it was a very shallow read. This read to me like AI generated content and not so,etching written by someone with hands on experience deploying honeypots or tokens.
clemailacct1··on Aspartame: Once More Unto the Breach
This isn’t a debate about how to hydrate.

It’s a debate about drinking sugar or artificial sweeteners when you want to enjoy a drink. Why is that fact lost in this discussion?

clemailacct1··on American arrested after Canadian airport drug tests gave false positives
This is a very weird take. You’re assuming Canada is a victim in this, again, super weird take. As if the Canadian govt hasn’t already demonstrated its authoritarian policies for decades already.

Canada created and implemented this policy, not the US.

clemailacct1··on Martin Scorsese: “The Whole World Has Opened Up to Me, but It’s Too Late”
But he doesn’t want to step aside! He is one of the most prolific filmmakers of all time and wants to continue doing what he absolutely loves. Why should he simply ‘step aside and make space’ for new voices? I’m pretty sure he’s earned the right to continue to do what he loves.
clemailacct1··on Vice files for Bankruptcy
This is so spot on of a rebuttal. Vice’s shift into what they’ve become was a top-down terrible choice from what they used to be.
clemailacct1··on Seinfeld Transcripts
Frasier is the epitome of hilarious and intelligent humor. In my personal opinion it is 10x more intelligent and funny than Seinfeld.
clemailacct1··on Sundar Pichai received $226M compensation, boosted by a triennial stock grant
That’s pretty subjective to the person. Some folks are very happy working on something that may be perceived as useless but gets to retire at a really young age.
clemailacct1··on A Forty-Year Career (2019)
In my experience the biggest challenge isn’t just identifying that pacing is important (because the author’s section on Pace is a complete gold mine of wisdom) - it’s having your direct manager and/or the company culture support that.

He correctly states that you should ‘change your situation’ (your job) if you’re not allowed to pace appropriately - but there’s a real tangible risk to getting recruited if your resume paints you to look like a mercenary who leaves every year.

Again, it just feels fuzzy and not black and white. Really great read though!

clemailacct1··on Show HN: Micro Graph Database for Python Applications
This is so exciting! Can’t wait to try this out.
clemailacct1··on Database “sharding” came from Ultima Online?
This is such a wholesome, nostalgic post. It makes me wish I could take a time machine back to the 90’s and do it all over again.
clemailacct1··on Show HN: Using GPT-3 and Whisper to save doctors’ time
The tone of this reply is excessively snarky.

You clearly have a personal bad experience with your doctor - but that doesn’t mean that this potential product is a terrible idea.

clemailacct1··on O&O App Buster removes Windows Apps you don’t want
I can’t use Debian for my Windows use case.
clemailacct1··on Linux on the Framework Laptop
This mirrors exactly my experience with System76 hardware.
clemailacct1··on The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Can Crack Your iPhone
Typically - no artifacts are left behind on the device. Image captures & forensics are done with write blockers in place, etc.
clemailacct1··on Thousands of Mazdas in the Seattle area are stuck on a single FM radio station
Remember the T-Man show in the morning on KUBE93?
clemailacct1··on Google increases parental-leave policy to nearly 6 months
I agree completely with this.
clemailacct1··on Why Linux is now my primary OS going into 2022
> Using Linux day-to-day with the latest distros is nothing but a joy. Everything just works out of the box.

This has not been my experience whatsoever using Linux as my daily driver for the past decade, unfortunately.

clemailacct1··on Atlassian fired me while I was taking care of my wife who is fighting cancer
> However, what really stood out to me was the design, or lack of it. The childish paint.exe job on the hero image doesn't help either. It really reads like a scrawled out screed of grievances, being aired without much forethought.

Can you blame the guy?

Im not some emotionless robot - I would be absolutely furious if I was peddled lies from my employer and be treated this way too.

This notion that we need to rise above things at all times is just silly. The man has a lot on his plate and has every right to scribble on two Atlassian peoples image.

clemailacct1··on Norm Macdonald has died
Yes! I’m beyond thrilled to see someone mention Patrice here. He is, by far, the most cerebral comedians of all time.
clemailacct1··on We found a phone with pre-installed malware via the Lifeline Assistance program
One issue in particular that makes it malware is that it attempts to download 3rd party apps from non-Google Play store. That’s a major security risk for introducing malicious APKs onto your phone.
