aeurielesn··on Don't use Excel for data analysis
I stopped using or caring about Excel back when I found a multiplication error in a very simple expression in Office 97.
aeurielesn··on Sublime Merge
The two advertisements at the top of the README made me uncomfortable.
aeurielesn··on Python packaging scenarios by the creators of ruff
More than pip, the problem is setuptools. But alternatives are truly required because these two projects had become inflexible monolith.
aeurielesn··on Facebook and Instagram's 'pay or consent' ad model violates the DMA, says the EU
I don't use Facebook but I'm so glad this finally happened. SV needs to be shown the door in the EU. The EU isn't for malicious compliance nor "don't get caught" schemes.
aeurielesn··on EFF: Forcing ByteDance to sell TikTok or face a ban is unconstitutional
Somehow this sounds so wrong. I really hope TikTok won't sell because what this is trying to achieve is concerning.
aeurielesn··on Mr: Apple Intelligence Features Not Coming to EU at Launch Due to DMA
Apple needs to stop playing this silly game that American companies love to play with regulators. As if Apple didn't bow down to CPC but only doing malicious complaince to EU.
aeurielesn··on EU says Apple has serious issues for not complying with DMA
I think the trick was to try to postpone it indefinitely so that the next CEO and board has to deal with it and not the current. Of course, after cashing out.
aeurielesn··on ChatGPT Is Bullshit
Not exactly what the article is about.
aeurielesn··on Clearview AI Used Your Face. Now You May Get a Stake in the Company
Yet another US company invading privacy and trying to get away with it. If this settlement goes through, it will just open the door for more psychopathic SV founders. Let's hope that's not what will happen here.
aeurielesn··on Altman backed AI Social Network 'Maven' imported 1.12M Fediverse posts
Hypothetically, if this network would manage to mirror the Fediverse and then provide a different robots.txt/restrictions than in the original sources to be ingested by OpenAI, would OpenAI be liable?
aeurielesn··on [dead]
How's that allowed on YouTube
aeurielesn··on [dead]
Maybe it's just me but I don't think people are so eager to trust SV vehicles anymore.
aeurielesn··on Microsoft will switch off Recall by default after security backlash
Doubting they'll even disable it at all.
aeurielesn··on Lessons learned from 6 months of operating a tiny news archive
It would be best to not hotlink the images. Linking back to the source would be great too.
aeurielesn··on Spain fines budget airlines €150M over 'abusive' cabin bag and seat charges
> The government investigation also looked at concerns around a lack of transparency by the airlines over the final price of services when booking online, and the decision to block cash payments at the airport for additional services.

I just went through this a week ago and I was shocked RyanAir was doing this as I was sure this was not legal in the EU.

aeurielesn··on Microsoft's mission to take down the MacBook Air
I can't imagine paying 3k$ to get adware.
aeurielesn··on Statement from Scarlett Johansson on the OpenAI "Sky" voice
This quote actually makes me disgusted. I don't think this is a quality to encourage on, especially since despite the tone it reads more as abuse.
aeurielesn··on Statement from Scarlett Johansson on the OpenAI "Sky" voice
Him and pretty much the entire SV culture.
aeurielesn··on Congress Has Made Obscuring Aircraft Ownership Information a Reality
Data Privacy for me and not for thee.
aeurielesn··on GDPR: Is It Worth It?
Wow, storing data blindly like that sounds like a nightmare but I can totally see it happening.
aeurielesn··on GDPR: Is It Worth It?
Don't ask for personal data then.
aeurielesn··on Microsoft stoops to new low with ads in Windows 11
My condolences to whoever will have to clean up after Nadella.
aeurielesn··on Microsoft stoops to new low with ads in Windows 11
I use my PC less since I got a Steam Deck. I only have Windows for gaming.
aeurielesn··on Hacker has to pay Nintendo 25-30% of his salary for the rest of his life
Or perhaps he had a bad lawyer.
aeurielesn··on Hacker has to pay Nintendo 25-30% of his salary for the rest of his life
Probably very difficult to do at 53yo.
aeurielesn··on Hacker has to pay Nintendo 25-30% of his salary for the rest of his life
It isn't clear to me whether this is Nintendo's or Nintendo of America's doing.
aeurielesn··on Cybertruck Owner Breaks His Finger Trying to Show Vehicle Is Safe
I'm wondering what are the minimum standards for something to considered safe to drive and if such compliance is publicly available to consumers in any government registry?
aeurielesn··on Sony overturns Helldivers 2 PSN requirement following backlash
No, you still didn't get the context right.

But digital libraries do really suck.

aeurielesn··on 00Key a 75% Keyboard
Nice! As someone that recently started on this hobby, I love my 75% custom mechanical keyboard.

One thing though, custom firmwares aren't popular on this hobby. Right now, QMK/VIA support are pretty much a must on the community.

aeurielesn··on The Rabbit R1 is probably running Android and is powered by an Android app
You're correct. I didn't even notice the typo until now!
