Altman backed AI Social Network 'Maven' imported 1.12M Fediverse posts

Hypothetically, if this network would manage to mirror the Fediverse and then provide a different robots.txt/restrictions than in the original sources to be ingested by OpenAI, would OpenAI be liable?

It's interesting. I understand the sentiment. Equally, it highlights the dilemma of wanting things to be very open, with no restrictions, but actually with an understanding that some ways of use are not appropriate.

It's like with democracy and autocratic populists. Part of the deal with democracy is that anyone can run, even people who want to dismantle the system. But that in turn is bad for the democracy too.

"What Now?

Shortly after Liaizon made their post, Jimmy Secretan made an announcement on Mastodon that they’ve deleted the entirety of the import."

"Update

A short while ago, Jimmy Secretan posted this response on everything that happened today.

"We have paused everything related to our Fediverse ingestion for now and we are removing everything ingested.

To be honest, the extreme negative reaction was a surprise to me, as I thought interaction between disparate systems was the entire point, but clearly we didn’t navigate the culture correctly.""

And they could have just used OpenAI to generate phony ones. It's like the "sweating the button choice" meme. hahaha! :)
