WangComputers··on Train sim created by just one person is being called the best ever made
I read the title and assumed this was going to be about Transport Tycoon.
WangComputers··on US believes its power matters more than international law, UN chief
Gigachad pic: Yes
WangComputers··on A 'toaster with a lens': The story behind the first handheld digital camera
Very few people understand the real reason why Kodak failed to dominate the digital world. It actually dates back to a 300 million dollar lawsuit which Honeywell won against Minolta over a patent for an autofocus system. The Japanese camera companies were so outraged over this perceived injustice that they vowed never to engage in technology sharing with American companies ever again and this ended up crippling Kodak's ambitions.
WangComputers··on Show HN: Draw a fish and watch it swim with the others
I gave my blue fish a black Hitler mustache and it went up by ten points
WangComputers··on Overtourism in Japan, and how it hurts small businesses
"they’re serious about “no entry” if you have tattoos"

That's nothing unusual in Japan, even Japanese people in Japan can't join a gym or get car insurance if they've got tattoos. They're serious about that stuff for a reason.

WangComputers··on McKinsey unit will pay $123M to settle claims it bribed South African officials
It's impossible to do business in Africa without bribing people, all these laws do is put Western companies at a tremendous disadvantage compared to Chinese ones.
WangComputers··on D&D is Anti-Medieval
ACKS fixes this
WangComputers··on A man has been swatted 47 times for making a joke about Norm Macdonald
His own family members snitched on him because they thought he was dangerous, he was convicted of the crime, what more do you want? Don't you think domestic violence should be taken seriously?

As far as being unstable goes you're free to peruse his Twitter account @StealthyGeek, search for his name on Youtube, etc. There's stuff I'd love to show you but I don't want to get banned for revealing his personal info.

WangComputers··on A man has been swatted 47 times for making a joke about Norm Macdonald
I'm not trying to justify the calls, I'm only trying to explain why the police are obliged to take these calls seriously.
WangComputers··on No Tech for Apartheid
You also probably get put on a government watch list.

Rightfully or wrongly, there are anti-BDS laws in 35 American states and we all know which side the national security establishment is on.

WangComputers··on No Tech for Apartheid
"I think you're making the mistake that "settler-colonialist" is some kind of demonic brand that condemns everything that it might be applied to to perdition or at least cancellation"

That's precisely what they're doing. Anyone with even a casual understanding of the modern American hard-left knows that's what they're saying and anyone who says otherwise is obviously, willfully lying.

WangComputers··on No Tech for Apartheid
"Technology should be used to bring people together, not enable apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and settler-colonialism."

I would like to see the authors of this petition clarify their opinion of the United States and its status as a "settler-colonialist" entity.

WangComputers··on War Thunder user leaks restricted military documents for AH-64D Apache Longbow
Panthers never had autoloaders
WangComputers··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
How could they make wine if they couldn't get close to 10% ?
WangComputers··on Court strikes down Berkeley’s ban on natural gas in new construction
He already has a battery, a Honda EU2200i to supplement it during blackouts would only be $1,200. Outrageously cheap compared to installing a 2nd home battery.
WangComputers··on Court strikes down Berkeley’s ban on natural gas in new construction
Buy a gasoline or diesel generator and get a transfer switch installed.

California's banning fuel powered generators in 2028 so do it while you can.

WangComputers··on Samsung bets on MicroLED and 8K for its premium 2023 TVs
Not in the consumer market. Eizo's professional reference monitors look much better than the latest TV's do; even to the untrained eye.
WangComputers··on Review of the Mad Emperor: Heliogabalus and the Decadence of Rome
Elagabalus was of Arab heritage and he was a priest who worshiped a representation of Baal, the very controversial and very foreign God he wanted to make #1.

It's no surprise that people were upset.

WangComputers··on A religious sect landed Google in a lawsuit
I'd be more than happy to join a cult and do their bidding if they got me a good job at Google with good long term prospects, it sounds like a fair deal to me. Mr Lloyd would have been much better off working out a deal with the cult rather than suing his employer, perhaps he could have nominally joined them and tithed 10% in exchange for their nepotism; it's certainly what I would have done.
WangComputers··on India’s caste system remains entrenched, 75 years after independence
"One out of every three Black boys born today can expect to go to prison in his lifetime"

You're literally repeating a White-Nationalist talking point

Disgusting

WangComputers··on Watch 1k illegal Bitcoin PCs get literally steamrolled, experience justice
"raising the price of Bitcoin"

Get back to me when that happens

WangComputers··on Watch 1k illegal Bitcoin PCs get literally steamrolled, experience justice
A car can be used for all kinds of legal activity, unlike an ASIC which relies on stolen electricity to be profitable.
WangComputers··on Watch 1k illegal Bitcoin PCs get literally steamrolled, experience justice
They're ASICs, they're worthless for anything except mining certain kinds of crypto, given current prices not only would reselling them be questionable from a pragmatic perspective but it would be essentially encouraging the kind of illegal activity (i.e. electricity theft) which caused them to be confiscated in the first place.
WangComputers··on Watch 1k illegal Bitcoin PCs get literally steamrolled, experience justice
Gamers could legitimately cry if they were video cards getting crushed but these are ASICs, all they can do is mine crypto, they're worthless for anything else so why not crush them?
WangComputers··on Watch 1k illegal Bitcoin PCs get literally steamrolled, experience justice
A waste of what?

These were ASIC computers which were stealing electricity, all they can do is mine crypto, so what else are they good for except getting squashed?

WangComputers··on Australia to introduce Google, Facebook legislation to parliament next week
You're right about most of the facts however

* I LIKE giving the Aussie government unilateral control over this issue vs the status quo of giving Big Tech unilateral control over it.

* I LIKE the fact this is unfair, Big Tech has been treating people unfairly for quite some time so I'd like to see them be treated as unfairly as possible. The more damage the Aussie government does to Big Tech the better, the more unfair, the more sadistic the better.

* You say that global adoption would be the end of a free and open web? It's far too late for that and the likes of Google and Facebook have nobody to blame but themselves.

WangComputers··on Inside of a Tractor Cab [video]
"I could teach anybody, even people in this room, to be a farmer. It's a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn."

-Mike Bloomberg
