It’s a reimplementation of AmigaOS 3.1 that runs on x86, ppc, and m68k.
- Image uploads to a chat failing for no apparent reason
- No obvious way of sharing/reposting an image or document from another chat
The classic way of building building apps is quite well documented though. It has been modernized quite a bit since Tiger and Xcode 2.0, but the general structure and workflow is the same as in this article, and there’s plenty of docs.
The new SwiftUI stuff is still under heavy development, and starting with the wwdc sessions is probably the best approach.
I don't understand why people insist on trying to convert laptops into desktops.
Adding a menu item for "Pin current tab" seems like a pretty straightforward bugzilla request too.
And handoff took its sweet time but it has been supported for a while now between iOS and Firefox on Mac.
SimpleMDM doesn't try to do everything, as the name implies, but instead they focus on doing what they do extremely well.

Performance is also a factor, as you mention. If you're onboarding hundreds of people in the same room at the same time, there's no WiFi in the world that can deliver the base config in a timely and reliable manner. One solution is to preload all the necessary bits, see for example Facebook's AutoDMG Cache Builder.
Imaging is still also by far the most automatable solution, and the only one that can truly be zero touch. It's possible to reinstall and set up a fleet of machines, with no human needed to touch them. DEP still requires a human with physical access to set up the machine on first boot.
While we've switched to DEP and MDM as our main deployment method, it still has a ways to go before it covers all cases.
They use Munki for software updates, which, just like you describe, gives the user a grace period where they can reboot at their leisure. Ignore it for long enough and it'll crank up the nagging, and eventually force a reboot.
