Only mistake was thinking here is different
Hani1337··on Gasoline made of carbon sucked from the air (2018)
I can't have scrolled this far without reading these 3 letters, so here they are. ESG trading.
Hani1337··on I'm shadow banned by DuckDuckGo and Bing
duckduckgo is a joke. use gibiru
Hani1337··on Always look down in London: Pavement oddities
And most importantly, because the streets are very slippery and the people look unhappy regardless.
Hani1337··on Elites Abandoned the Masses
i often wonder how many of these articles are cia funded to normalize "elites" or "leaders" being a separate cast of society above the rest of us. left vs right doesn't work anymore, so they want to glorify being superior through wealth, and at the same time, normalize being a hypocrite because they actively encourage corruption.
Hani1337··on I deleted all my social media 3 yrs ago and I hardcore regret it everyday
That's because they're still on reddit. Need to wean off completely from social media addictions, not only halfway through, and reddit is even more toxic hivemindish than most other social medias. It's healthier for your mental health to have real life friends timelines with stupid posts and the zuch on your shoulder than it is dodging mass amount of downvotes on reddit for speaking honestly. Anything that will bring you back to your devices at a notification's notice is bad for your sanity. Control how you focus your attention through and through.
Hani1337··on Will we know alien life when we see it?
Says who? They do present properties of thinkers when they regulated entire ecosystems via their networks of mycelium. They even communicated with micro electric impulses. Start thinking outside of the box, not within boundaries of definitions.
Hani1337··on Will we know alien life when we see it?
planet is an amalgam of rocks and minerals, heat is provided by the sun, water could have been of extraterrestrial origin, and then enters fungi using heat and humidity to develop mycelium, mycelium turns minerals into compost with enzymes, space dust introduces bacteria which evolves through thermal vents a/biogenesis, and voila, you have life. We do know that before vegetation, Earth had fungi structures made of half rock, half fungi flesh, and they probably evolved into actual trees. At the same time, lichen spread from underwater to the surface of the Earth. Fungi released CO2, creating an atmosphere for plants to develop. The rest is evolution.
Hani1337··on Names should be cute, not descriptive
Why not both? Do it like counterstrike maps with their gamemode prefix de_ cs_ kz_ surf_

host_dandelion01, client_pollen01, merger_fusion, compiler_compost_v1, etc

Hani1337··on Will we know alien life when we see it?
I firmly believe that life on Earth was triggered by spores meeting water and developing mycelium networks breaking down minerals into nutrients and slowly taking advantage of photosynthesis to develop more complex life forms. Spores can easily resist the vacuum of space, and pass any form of great filter. They do help create enzymes and uptake nutrients, they do help break down minerals, they do communicate with entire ecosystems, and so much more we barely understand. This would mean that fungi are of alien origin.
Hani1337··on Dedicated biomass is not a good idea
These numbers were compiled by a mathhead who knows nothing about renewable agriculture meets new technologies. To be clear I'm not saying growing crops to turn them into biofuels is a good idea, but there are plenty opportunities to render the calculations based on arable land and energy output irrelevant.
Hani1337··on Japan’s business owners can’t find successors – one man is giving his away
Stop discriminating at the border on who can become a resident and I would make Japan #1 on my moving destinations list.
Hani1337··on Tell HN: Everyone should have a holiday dinner this year

Hani1337··on Valve is paying open source developers to keep Steam Deck playable
Shall we call them... "Uber Devs"?
Hani1337··on Twitter may have lost more than a million users since Elon Musk took over
more than a million people obviously
Hani1337··on Elon Musk on free speech (March 2022)
Elon is to free speech what SBF is to decentralization.
Hani1337··on Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll
Wish I could vote yes, but him buying twitter made me delete my account months ago already.
Hani1337··on Ask HN: What will stop AI generated content from flooding the internet?
they don't need ai, they got the mainstream media.
Hani1337··on The Sordid Past of the Cubic Formula
linearity is an illusion created by the bias of being trapped at one level of cognition and perception. if something can not work with abstract geometrical vector rules in an exponential way, then we got something wrong at the local level. even if it makes sense from that local perspective, in that local frame of reference. biggest example of this is our lack of theory of time that is compatible with quantum mechanics.
Hani1337··on People who are isolated from others do worse on cognitive tests: new research
define good and bad??? who's to say being social and popular makes you good at cognition? what cognitive task we talking about? were tesla and einstein sociable? were they popular? this is biased bs
Hani1337··on People who are isolated from others do worse on cognitive tests: new research
not to mention who's to say people like HN users at parties, lol. being a karma farmers doesn't make you appreciated, it makes you vain.
Hani1337··on China's tech giants lost their swagger and may never get it back
Where is Jack Ma?
Hani1337··on Ask HN: Dealing with Tool Fatigue?
I search for tools when I need them, and as long as they do the job, I don't look for new ones. Been using pirated Adobe products for a while now because I don't fancy paying a monthly subscription for updates I really don't care about. Once in a while I hear about their new shiny features, and that gets me to update, but that's it.
Hani1337··on Nobody Knows How to Watch Movies Anymore
Are there even good movies anymore? It's become so cheap to produce and they're all going for popularity at the box office, I barely ever see movies that have a soul anymore. Even tv shows, I find myself rewatching the same ones over and over again, because I know I will have a good time.
Hani1337··on Ask HN: Is it possible to make a DIY watering system using an old iPad? How?
Maybe install Android on the tablet?
Hani1337··on Bitcoin’s nosedive through the $20k mark is a Minsky Moment for crypto
There's a first mover advantage that will always price out future investors, so it will keep retracing again and again. If you want something that has better intrinsic value rooted in utility, Cardano's the one. And please, no one reply Ethereum is better than Cardano, when 2/3 of the globe can not afford GPUs. PoW mining is a losing battle.
Hani1337··on The Inca Used Knots to Tell Stories
I think it's wrong to think they encoded data like a stylesheet, I think they encoded information through arborescence and fractal charts. Big difference if you're thinking of understanding their data structure. First idea that popped into my mind was that these are perfect to keep track of genealogy across generations and multiple families.
Hani1337··on The Inca Used Knots to Tell Stories

Hani1337··on Pokete: Terminal based Pokemon like game
Termon, not pockete. Who has a terminal in their pockets?
Hani1337··on Biden launches action on "Big Tech, Big Pharma, and Big Ag" – can it be real?
The reason we can afford universal health care in my country is because there are hard caps to the prices health professionals can legally ask, be it for fees or medication prices. If the prices are kept closer to their real value, and not inflated prices, then it's already much more affordable to consider paying for universal health care.
