An example to me is note taking, it seems like the productivity people seem to fixate on doing it perfectly and in the exact right way to maximise productivity, instead of just taking the notes in a good enough fashion and doing something else with the saved time.
To me gambling requires betting of long term/valuable resources. In Balatro, the only thing that you'll affect is each individual run, you're back to square one after each as it's a rouguelike. Games like Clash Royale where you can spend actual money on chests for items that affect the game long term, not just for a single match, to me is actual gambling, whereas playing a poker hand using fake chips that only affects that single <1h run absolutely isn't.
It looks like whoever came up with the ratings just saw it uses poker hands for scoring and represents a score with chips, therefore it's gambling, and gave it an 18+ rating, when you're not actually gambling anything (either real world money, or long term items in the game)
Glass bottles used to be much more common but they're more expensive, very easy to break, and heavier, which also increases cost of transportation. Paper containers for things can't be allowed to get wet which often makes them impractical. Metals are expensive, potentially reactive, heavy, and inflexible.
Yes plastics are very environmentally problematic, but they do solve a lot of problems that aren't really solved by any other kind of material.
1. Open Steam 2. Search for game 3. Buy game 4. Play game
Whereas if I want to watch a movie, I honestly don't even know where to start looking for it, there's no simple way to just pay for it on the movie app, keep it forever, download it, and watch it when you want. You have to do this ritual of finding what streaming service it's actually on, hope you have a subscription to it, if not subscribe to it, probably find it's not even available in your region, and if the stars align you might be able to watch your film for the next 30 days.
Or you can go on one of the many pirate sites, search for the movie, click the play/download button, and you're sorted.
I do pirate movies quite frequently, but moreso because it's the only realistic way to type a name into a search bar and just play the damn thing.
The likely solution is an old phone with everything stock just for the banks, and this phone with everything else. That's not ideal either if I want to check my balance when I'm out, or travelling, and don't have the 2nd phone. Maybe someone will make a tiny android for €30 or so with the lowest possible specs for this use case. It could be sold as a device for putting banks and 2fa apps on.
This is the only reason for me (and presumably a fair few others) not to be using Lineage, I can do without google wallet etc but I can't do without access to my own bank accounts
It feels like a total artificial duopoly, you only get to use your essential service on android or ios.
This feels like an issue for the EU to step in on, a functional duopoly created by apps for essential services that almost everyone needs requiring one of 2 platforms to work.
Edit: forgot to mention this. Someone in my family has a vehicle in Ireland and in NI, we sort of live between the two countries, pre-brexit that was completely fine as their drivers licence was european so there was no issues, but post-brexit they cannot get insured in Ireland due to insurance companies refusing to give insurance to someone with a non-EU licence.
These policies always seem a bit ridiculous to me. I've done nothing to discriminate against these people, so why am I being treated worse because of the actions of people I had nothing to do with? Affirmative action policies are discriminative, just not to the group they're targeted at helping. Why can't there just be equality and leave it at that?
My personal opinion is you can't discriminate based on information you don't have, so universities/employers etc shouldn't get information on a candidates race/gender/whatever that's not relevant, because that way they can't have discriminated using it
