EastCoastLA··on Size Comparison - Science Fiction spaceships
A minecraft or 3d interior map of each would take this to the next level.
EastCoastLA··on Lisp Books living again in Clojure
Would love to see the same thing for Racket. Anyone else have this are want to start it?
EastCoastLA··on Donuts.css
Any open source code to generate the bullet graph and sparklines? Both make a great visual when looking at this type of data.

EastCoastLA··on Show HN: A web-based Excel/Database hybrid
DabbleDB again. Don't break my heart.
EastCoastLA··on Kickstarted video game project Haunts gets mothballed
That can be a slippery slope, because with more money and time, they can keep finding ways to "make it happen." When is the line drawn? Maybe the should publicly state a date to release the project to the people if they cannot complete the project.
EastCoastLA··on Kickstarted video game project Haunts gets mothballed
It would nice to see all crowd source projects have a clause that if the project fails or is mothballed, then the project code and assets are released open source. Haunts: The Manse Macabre and all assets could be place on github for the users to continue.
EastCoastLA··on Realtime Three.js Coding
Needs to have the image open in another window rather than behind the text.
EastCoastLA··on BananaBread: 3D first person shooter game compiled to JS+WebGL
Should have evolved some element for the http://www.ludumdare.com/ event.

Maybe next time ;)

EastCoastLA··on Javathcript - Javascript with a lisp
Nice work. I have seen many Lisp to Javascript, Lisp in Javascript variants. Would love to see a comparison of major features of all the variants. Can they run SICP examples. Closer to Scheme or CL. Macro support. Javascript integration.

Edit: then I saw-"A Survey Of JavaScript Lisp Implementations" - http://ceaude.twoticketsplease.de/articles/a-survey-of-javas...

EastCoastLA··on Super-resolution from a single image
Could you use AI to find a near match for the image? Using the eye chart as the example: Since this now becomes a image matching problem once Super Resolution is used, search an image database and zoom enhance.
EastCoastLA··on The Newbie Guide to Common Lisp
This article should direct the "Newbie" to the very comprehensive Wikipedia article.

EastCoastLA··on Kim Stanley Robinson Sees Humans Colonizing the Solar System in 2312

My thought is the key to escape from the bounds of solar system is having the technology to encoding/decode/mimic the human reproductive cycle into a non biological format. Thus, after a 50,000 year sub-light speed journey, humans could be reconstituted in any environment able to support life. While the Earth my be long-gone at the end of such a journey, the human species will be be the seed that starts the chain of colonization though-out the universe.
EastCoastLA··on Google's Code Editor
Can you elaborate on Common Lisp automation...
EastCoastLA··on A web-based Excel/database hybrid

It would be nice for them to have written in the contract to open source their product if they go out of business and are not purchased are liquidated by another company.
I too spent a lot of time utilizing DabbleDB unique tool-set and have yet to get back to the level of productivity after they went under.
EastCoastLA··on A web-based Excel/database hybrid
Please don't end up like DabbleDB.
EastCoastLA··on CodeNow.Com Lets You Build And Test Code In Real Time, In Your Browser
Can it run a Lisp?
EastCoastLA··on Descriptive Camera: A camera that prints a description, not an image

Here is an idea, translate the text into a picture. An API will take text and generate a representation of the description using images from the web via google image search.
EastCoastLA··on The Death of the Level Designer: Procedural Content Generation in Games

It is interesting that more games have not used this in re-release of older games. I can think off the top of my head 3 games that I want more content to extend the replay-ability.
-Mario-Kart with procedural generated race tracks after you beat all the levels and gain all the trophies.
-Multi-Player Halo. An option for one of the random games to have a procedural generated map. With a player vote at the end of the game. Top maps added to the rotation.
-Burnout paradise- Use the city generator to create random games. Again players vote at the end of the game. Top maps added to the rotation.
Bonus-Left for Dead and make it through the random city.
EastCoastLA··on An entire Mobile OS built using HTML, CSS and JS - by Mozilla
Looks like with Enyo, the JavaScript app framework, and leveraging this new Boot2Gecko, smartphone hardware will become the focus rather the phone OS.
EastCoastLA··on What Would The End Of Football Look Like?

I think this is great point. Transition the game to avatar like mode with skilled players at the controls. Human element still present using players pilots and NASCAR like sponsorship of individual robots and drivers. Think of CS, AI, Engineering programs that would have a boost. Also, video game training of players starting in grade school which Madden already has a "lock" on. Doesn't FOX have that Cleatus Mascot that already is a fan favorite of this type of thinking. Now to the question becomes home come we don't remove the drivers from NASCAR and replace with Avatars.
EastCoastLA··on Is New York's Tech Boom Sustainable? (PG asks)
Will they post a list of all the attendees from last nights event in some type of directory?

I know the whiteboard was posted before the event, but many people I meet last night did not fill it out and did not know about it.

EastCoastLA··on Is New York's Tech Boom Sustainable? (PG asks)
After being one of the 800 people in the room last night, I found it exhilarating that so many locals were interested in developing start-ups. What was some type of founder "dating". I was interested in healthcare and technology and randomly found a few individuals last night in the crowd. That random start-up up luck is what PG spoke of last night and was created artificially at the YCNYC last night. It happens all the time "in the wild" in Silicon Valley, as a by product of the culture. What we needed is similar type events and culture change in NYC to make such events more accessible and common place.

EastCoastLA··on Ask HN: I'll build any web app
Protovis is very close, but imagine one of the digital frames you put pictures in. The date dynamically creates the one image. Each element of the picture might represent a data element I feel is important. The javascript API will allow me to select the picture which could be a landscape or water-scape or mountain scape. The data can be encoded in JSON. The user could look at the image and have a visual representation of the data in a familiar format.
EastCoastLA··on Ask HN: I'll build any web app

I am interested in use of data visualization of information that has an endpoint of simple dynamic well known picture/image. Every item in the picture is linked to the data.

Imagine a picture of a harbor with boats, calm water, clear sky,etc.. (Still looking for the specific tech talk)
Every distinct visual category in the picture should have a distinct data link.
I would model it in the same way as Protovis http://vis.stanford.edu/protovis/ But with pictures linked to the data.

EastCoastLA··on Ask HN: I'll build any web app
Hello stagas. What is your technical skill with javascript. I have a idea that needs more polish, but I think it would make a great open source library and I could use it in my job. It's a visualization tool that I saw a Google tech talk about a few months ago. I have not had time to sit down and code for it, but if it was available, I would sure use it.
