because it wasn't until like 1888[0] or the early-mid 1890's[1] that a "movie camera" became something real.

Cabin fever is a real thing.

Why only focus on the main polluter and not... all of the sources? They all have to be cut back to zero asap.

Yeah. I can't see just using the MTBF for the drives and not having any spares. Shit happens.

What state is/was this? It sounds highly illegal and that person should be prosecuted. Make it have an impact by reporting them.

NY for example:

"Thus, for example, even a spill of a gallon of oil into a ditch is covered."

https://ag.ny.gov/environmental/oil-spill/oil-spills-homes-a...

California:

"California Penal Code 374.3 makes illegal dumping on public and private property punishable by a fine up to $10,000. Also, pursuant to Section 117555 of the California health and Safety Code, a person who dumps illegally is punishable by up to six months on jail."

5 years planned with no maintenance (e.g. no storage disk failures to replace). I wonder how many spare drives were slapped in that tube to make that feasible?
24gttghh··on Why ‘Civilization’ is a political masterpiece
That's why you just make sure you get 3-5 artillery units able to move into position and attack a city on the same turn, and have shielding melee units. Don't give the NPC civ's time to fight back.

This is a good example of the range of equipment I have seen:

Only thing non-tracked that goes off the gravel logging roads would be the Skidder (it literally drags bunches, or 'hitches' of trees to the transport vehicles). And even that might be partially or fully-tracked.

The feller, slasher, excavator, bulldozer, etc. are all tracked from what I've seen.

Mandatory? Doubtful. But they are most practical in the rough terrain.

I highly doubt ranchers would turn to grinding up beef herds just to make more feed. They would just grow more forage/feed crops. But they really wouldn't since it's the beef that needs the absurd volume of feed, so ideally they would just go out of business.

NPR gets 1% of it's funding directly from the Feds:

https://www.npr.org/about-npr/178660742/public-radio-finance...

Local PBS radio stations do get more funding through the CPB (corporation for public broadcasting), but that seems to be only about 12% from local/state/federal sources.

The CPB itself seems to get about $450 million a year from Congressional apportionment.

https://www.cpb.org/appropriation/history

However, most of the funding PBS/NPR gets are from private and corporate donations.

24gttghh··on Fertilizing the Ocean with Iron (2007)
Yes I should have pointed that out too. Thank you.

Maybe not the best overall, but definitely the cheapest and easiest thing a consumer can do, right now, today, is eat less red meat.

I was about to say most of the plains are used for growing corn and not grazing land but I was wrong, partly. Its mostly cropland in the Northern/Central plains, but mostly grazing/pasture land otherwise.

I do mind. I found your thought experiment to be patronizing.

yes, all of the embarrassing/horrendous things the current admin is doing/has done...certainly embarrass them to a majority of the population. They really should be ashamed, but of course they aren't.

Pretty close on the last one. It was the end of HW Bush's term in '92.

Time may be money to some, but my time is fresh air and not supporting wasteful transport systems if I can avoid it.
24gttghh··on The Clean Network – United States Department of State
I do this anyways. Why would I pay postage to have something brought to a distribution center 20 miles away, wait a few days, then brought back to my town to get delivered to town hall when I can literally walk there and drop it off for free?

In the article it even mentions this and links to how to change it:

This was the first comment on the article and I responded before reading that it was about senators voting. Not everyday citizens/residents voting.
