Honestly, this only really helps people in rural areas. The vast majority of urban 5GHz implementations are at 80MHz - 6GHz does allow for 160MHz channelization, but at 320MHz the attenuation is so great that most homes will require multiple APs to actually hit appropriate MCS indexes.

I encourage playing with these + cumulus linux via the nvidia air lab environment. It may seem limiting at first, but being able to upload a graphviz topology as part of a CI/CD pipeline is extremely powerful.

This is not quite true - GPU's are limited to select VM types, and the number of GPU's you have influences the maximum number of cores you can get. In general they're only available on the n1 instances (except the a100's, but those are far less popular)

HN is an example of what used to be good about the internet. The page loads quickly without pulling in 100Mb of frontend dev navel-gazing. In my experience simple sites like this are much easier to modify locally for accessibility, via screen readers, or local style sheets to modify things like the small click targets.

I think many in the HN crowd see it as a rejection of the modern bloat and straight up garbage code that many popular sites (particularly news aggregators, looking @ you reddit) tend to become.

Yeah I’m not sure either - I’ve used UEFI only on my last few laptops (mostly Dell XPS) and it’s been great. Sure, the process is a hair more confusing, but there’s massive benefits and it’s FAST. In particular, I’ve been impressed with systemd-boot and how you can use systemd-analyze and logging to really understand _everything_ that’s going on in your boot chain.

I also really like the capsule firmware update mechanism, I’ve been able to use fwupdmgr to keep all of my devices firmware up to date, from Linux, without freeDOS or windows foolery. Additionally, the Dell UEFI BIOS supports booting right to the firmware update cab or exe, further strengthening the utility of a Linux-only install.

I’m currently switching to Vyvanse after 10+ years using adderall. There is no generic formulation (at least in the us) because it came to market in 2007. I’ve had several issues with inconsistent adderall from various generic manufacturers and that issue simply isn’t possible right now with Vyvanse. The downside is, it’s $400 a month without insurance, and $100 a month with good insurance.

Because it’s basically dextroamphetamine with a lysine molecule taped on, the psychoactive effects are really similar, but I’d describe it as cleaner if that makes sense. The “killer feature” of the enzymatic release is it’s basically a fixed timing, whereas with XR formulations of Adderall you have a 50/50 blend of immediate and delayed release 3:1 amphetamines. I believe you are correct, it’s not standardized. This, combined with the acids / bases both hurting overall blood levels (think grapefruit juice) means you just have a wildly inconsistent time over long term use of the medicine. For example, I’ve had pharmacies change generics on me without saying anything, I’ve had an inability to get my preferred generics, and I’ve had days where it’s felt like I took nothing at all. The worst are Nuvo and Mallinckrodt in my experience (IR 10mg 2x/day).
