yibberish··on Google engineers joked about how incognito mode isn't incognito
what I find impressive is how the employees are critical and the company stays on course. the criticism from its employees somehow neutered/ignored.

I suppose a corporation is not a democracy but a private entity, so then, what are the employees? free citizens? who has more power the government -- which was supposed to guarantee that the citizen's voices would be heard, or the company?

how different is google from the usa government really?

yibberish··on Microsoft's AR Headset Was a Complete Disaster During a Military Test
> Absurdity. $180k per headset delivered? Did they mean $21.88mm?!

nope, this is just how expensive doing such projects where none of the participants is able to undesrtand how it all comes together; because of military level safety requirements.

but also, becuase if most people knew what they are working for they wouldn't do it. none of them want more snowdens, and these are costly to 'prevent'

yibberish··on The Real War 1939-1945 (1989)
I have de-subscribed from authority.

I speak from my own experience, if it helps it helps, if it doesn't just leave it. maybe it wasn't meant for you

I'm not telling him to go scare his kids. I'm pointing out some possible self-deceit.

"I did it for them!".. sure, why not? but my point is that first and foremost he's making those choices for himself; which is pefrectly fine. what's not fine (IMO) is to pretend such choices aren't selfish.

yibberish··on The Real War 1939-1945 (1989)
talking about it does not quite bring it to their doorstep; but it surely takes you back there; it's understandable to not want to go back.

your choice to shoulder this burden for all, is well your choice. but be advised that this choice may have unintended consequences in a longer term. consequences of your choice to witholding bad things "for them".

I don't belive you're doing this (bearing the horrible things) only to shield your relatives from your past. it is important you recognize that it's something you do for yourself, you are the main person who doesn't want to remember whatever horrible events you had to experience; don't pin this choice on them.

yibberish··on Two recent books by historians explore the crisis in biological psychiatry
my own mental illness exists in relation to the society I have grown up into.

but you're still right, our own guts are what I had to look at in order to deal with this illness.

yibberish··on Two recent books by historians explore the crisis in biological psychiatry
this article reframes the recent trend in psychiatric into psychedelics in a bad light:

> Understanding the undulating history of psychiatric hype and crisis is crucial today as the profession builds toward its next trend: psychedelics, already heralded as a “renaissance” and psychiatry’s “next frontier.” These two histories demonstrate that the academic and corporate pursuit of such hype [...] resulting in significant psychological and bodily harm.

this articles ignores the unfounded claim: that the real purpose of the APA was not quite to heal, not after ww2.

> We also have not had any significant breakthroughs in treatment.

They even say this, which is as nazi social control as it gets.

> psychiatrists in the 1970s who pathologized Black activism as “psychosis.”

oh, and what Bush said in the 90s? I suppose all that went into marketing, and later on (i.e. nowadays) into 'engagement' metrics for online content and so on. so, as I said, they're not trying to heal you, they're trying to make a buck same as everybody else in a capitalist society/marketplace.

now all that scientific progress is being used in an information war. as war crazy as it gets.

yibberish··on Normalising Layoffs/Firing
nope, it's just happening a lot recently, more than usual.
yibberish··on IKEA’s Crimes Against Cartography
the food is subsidized by the odds that you'll buy something on your way out?
yibberish··on TikTok profits from livestreams of families begging
and the top rungs of society profit from poor people existing (allows for lower wages by the desperate need for any work)...

i.e. I'm calling out the hypocrisy and straw escape goat to point that this piece is just another salvo in the ongoing culture war.

yibberish··on Regulators of Facebook, Google and Amazon also invest in the companies’ stocks
we certianly need some way to separate the role of the regulator, from the person doing that job.
yibberish··on BuiltWith: $14M ARR, no employees
100% rent-based business. the computers do all the work, the owners just collect the money.

the societal mistake is to regard this as 'wealth production'; it's not. this is rent. this is where creative productivity (arguably real actual wealth) goes to die.
