You'll find tons of process lists on virus support forums. Some people would be helped if they could check their processes against a clean list if it could help them discover problems and have an easy way to fix them.

Yup. "I'm serious about this, and willing to pay quite a bit of money to make it happen."

1 - Dating sites with targeted communities such as religious peers.

2 - Premium news sites. You see a lot of these with financial sites such as theflyonthewall.com, briefing.com etc.

3 - Quality tutorial sites. lynda.com

4 - I started paying up for an ad free experience and premium features for email.before gmail took off.

5 - Job listings on craigslist.

6 - Membership sites. Too many to list.

First it was the links for different search types bouncing all other the page. Then there was the automatic customized searches. What if I wanted to see what the general public sees? Now I'm getting news links 4 or 5 results down the search page.

I don't care how if their algorithms are better the anyone else's. Functionally, it's broken for me.

What's your favorite non google powered search engine?

I wish there wasn't a race for users to submit the latest posting from the top 10 tech/startup blogs. I like discovering new sites not reading a rehash of what's already in my feed.

I would not choose solely based on price and if you're looking at a shared server definitely not a place with ambiguous terms of service.

"If your processes are adversely affecting server performance disproportionately DreamHost Web Hosting reserves the right to negotiate additional charges with the Customer and/or the discontinuation of the offending processes."

Before you go with them call them up and if their capacities will work well for what you need to get started and always have a backup plan for scaling up immediately.

Of course shared hosting will offer rails. Since it's more cpu intensive they'll be able to force you to upgrade to a virtual/dedicated server sooner because of violating their terms of service.

What's the most bandwidth you've ever used with DH? Every shared host place I've talked to has CPU limits and would shut the site down or force an upgrade long before you would get near 4 TB.

Look out when the bosses pretend to be coworkers.

There are several people here who I would gladly mark most of their posts as spam because they submit each and every thing they write on their blogs.

How about an adsense like blog spam sidebar where the crappy submissions have to sit in shame?

Umm...it's working just fine for me.

Update: Still working fine 2:48 eastern. My s3 files and amazon.com.

and 7 of the top stories on reddit are about digg.

I'd give away more invites here as well, but the last time I did, two people I invited didn't even bother to sign up. You guys suck.

I just opened up my first photo account with flickr and it was amazingly easy to upload several hundred photos from a trip to the botanical gardens and then email the series to friends. It's so simple even my grandmother can use it.

I'd advise you to work on your copywriting. With all the free photo hosting sites out there already I don't think people care about average number of photos times x number of cents to host per year. They just want to know how easy it is and that it's free or that they are getting an incredible deal by paying a subscription fee.

If you're targeting people who are new to the web, talking about zip archives will likely scare them away. Keep it simple.

Just noticed the whole line was green for the first time on the google toolbar while I was on yahoo.

Can anyone tell me what bandwidth costs a month once you need over a terabyte a month? How would you host a 5-10 mb movie that may be viewed millions of times without using a 3rd party video host like youtube etc?

First there were DoS attacks and now we have the potential for spam farms to link to one site sending it to google hell.

Yikes!

I just started using s3 for a video site I'm launching next week and it's awesome. So far it has cost me pennies (literally)!

They were bought by google and are closed to new users while they go through the google intergrate and then kill process.

Try playing around on http://logoyes.com/logocreator.php

All I use is email, weather, finance, groups, search and news when I'm bored (already read 3 papers). The rest can go.

The guy at my hardware store who sold dozens of new paver driveways last year said that business has practically shut down this year. Housing is definitely affecting consumer spending.

The Dow always sets records before going into a recession.

They've been changing the location of the different search links - news, blogs, images etc and it's driving me crazy.

Take a look at what squidoo.com has been doing with ads. They let users up/down vote ads.

Ha, I'll apply with a fake paid membership site. At $25/yr, the 100,000 registrations they guarantee will make me an instant millionaire!

I have an even better deal for you. Since you're working out of your apartment and don't need the office space, I'll let you use my spam bot registers and will give you 200,000 fake registrations in exchange for your all your brilliant ideas.

I hope no one here is desperate enough for free office space to send their ideas to an anonymous craigslist poster. Too bad there isn't a requirement for users here to post at least x number of real comments before being able to spam the site.

Dinner party at a friend's apt.

Just saw a big yellow banner saying "Go download the Alexa toolbar. It rules!" on the top of their home page. I guess they're taking sides in the statsaholic/amazon fight.

Especially when the "Y" part of the name actually means something in context. Too bad ybother.com is gone. It could have make for a great name for a web 2.0 graveyard.

I'm assuming more people than just me asked for some extra features, such as more distance searching options, sort users by game times etc. 3 times I've submitted feedback and 3 times my requests have been implemented within 36 hours.

Keep up the good work.
