Countries like India could really benefit from it. I always imagined a lock like Lockitron with a subscription based app to unlock clean bathrooms nearby. Leave reviews. I think this would become something funny and useful.

This is a great list. I've thinking a lot about open/free education for masses in my wondering times these days. I was going to compile a list of available online courses just like this but more so in a semester wise fashion so that anyone interested can actually dedicate time accordingly as if they are part of a regular college curriculum.
As more and more courses come online, getting full-on degree becomes very viable by just attending lectures online, getting together with local students for group study or assignment, on-demand labs and support of mentors. There is greater need for open standard so that employers can start accepting these students as viable accreditation options for employment in their organizations.
In a nutshell once the app is setup, you can start sending links/text via drumroll.io to your devices. There is also a chrome extension to make it super easy to capture links drumroll.io/chrome.
Thanks for all the various options you've highlighted. I do feel compelled to try building out the core services to see if I can compete in certain markets. My biggest concern being unable to dedicate myself full-time unless it starts bringing in revenue I need to pay up for my bills. If you do not mind, I would like to send you a PM with info of my product site.
App.net allows app developers to use app.net platform for a fee. App developers can integrate their user's app.net logins/profiles/network/photos etc. just like they do on facebook platform. App developers can also create users in the app.net platform. Users never see any ad. They also have good privacy settings. It's like win-win for both end-users and app developers. The only catch being app developers pay a nominal fee.
