And for some reason I thought it required triangulation, in that noise cancelation can't be done with sound in a space because the inverse of the sound you hear is relative compared to the person a foot or two away from you.
Agreed. And while I’m sure we have all been let down by apps/tech at one point or another, I think the user in this case discounts the tremendous effort put into developing apps, and to me a somewhat “cutesy” error message is enough to remind me that a human created the very opportunity I feel let down by.
Idk with the amount of books referenced and the definitive fact the some of them were resold at least indicates a good chance of making thousands of dollars, otherwise It’s logical to assume if the effort has not been worth it the author would have commented as such.
I’m not sure about the command line not being a thing of the past, it’s not something I do on my current gen devices, game consoles/smart phones/watches/tablets.
In fact for the general software user I think terminal commands are a thing of the past.
I know from experience that similar setups tend to have the workstation load the verifone updates, so a package could be inserted, it would take some more insider knowledge.
Yes, complete your story in a single PR, if the next story is related and requires your changes your work wasn’t split up properly, plus in that scenario there is a good chance other devs have to many dependencies on other devs work which is a recipe for disaster!
No? You can create a new branch and start working on the next thing. Why would you be waiting on your PR to complete unless you didn’t split your work correctly.
What the heck? Do you somehow only watch the super opinionated stuff on both Fox and CNN, giving you polar opposite trash talk from both sides of the aisle? Lol
If anything The first one wasn’t a white supremacist because “he had alot of Mexican friends” and the other isn’t cozying up to a dictator because our gas supply offset wasn’t shifty to Saudi backed oil supplies, not to mention all his work his son has done with sketchy characters that he tries to distance himself from.
That’s very interesting. I’m curious how it could relate to humans. Not to say it can’t be 1:1, but there are mental aspects that can effect human hunger and I’d be interested in research around that. For example someone who eats a lot but falls into a depression might slow eating considerably (or eat more depending on the person) it’s not to far fetched to consider the possibility of mind state altering medication that could stimulate the brain causing less or more hungry.
Housing/rent is a part of your disposable income. Some people live in expensive places because they want too, but no one is required to live in an expensive place because they have too. I agree in the idea of affordable housing but I don’t think it’s fair to promote sweeping changes because people decide to live in expensive cities like NYC.
If it’s that easy to do, why do I get spam emails and texts with broken English? Seriously the earlier comment was accurate, if you feel the need to comment on the security of this obviously not nefarious project change fields, you don’t have the stomach for infosec.
See not to nit pick, but it’s that realm of thinking that is the reason we don’t have that level of technology.
Don’t get me wrong caring for our planet is Noble, but if the other hacker news article (the one that shows the events of our life) there are like 2b more people on the planet then existed when I was born, I think it’s time to tackle leaving the planet otherwise instead of banning fossil fuels we will be banning children.
Why is it open source software if the goal is make money off of it? The problem is devs shouldn’t feel like their hobby became a job, they should stop maintaining the code if it becomes to much of a job, or commercialize it. Have a fork that is private and monitized with extra features.
The street performer example was spot on, the existence of a package and its promotion doesn’t entitle it to compensation. What if the performers suck and detract from the passerbys park experience? Are they entitled to compensation for indirectly listing to music they didn’t want to hear in the first place?
Agreed. Otherwise they will likely lose another 5% due to people wanting to get out of there. If he had something to the effect of, there may be layoffs we just don’t know where yet, here’s how we are approaching it and how we plan to let people go. They may still lose some people but at least it doesn’t feel like a sinking ship you need to get away from.
When it happened at my previous company several years ago, the CIO was honest and upfront. We were on our 2nd down tick in retail and he said in the next few months they would be letting contractors go. A few months after that he told us they might be laying off or outsourcing certain departments. A few months after that he told us which areas would be effected and that individuals would know if they are being let go on one of 2 days back to back. Everyone knew if they made it through those days they were safe. Then they gave those employees let go 6 months to offload responsibilities, and helped them find new jobs.
See I’ve never understood that argument, because I would make the same argument about child tax credits or the payments made to people with children over the last few years. I don’t have children am I entitled to similar compensation? Or would I get mine through student loan forgiveness?
I think the point they were making was it’s risky to join a startup, and it doesn’t seem like that much more of a risk to start a startup if you have the stomach for risk already.
