I tend to associate the tweaks on the site with Tampermonkey and not uBlock Origin.

A slight variation of this: I bookmark specific Youtube channels to only view their content.

The Office team used to pioneer (hard-code) the look and feel for the UI, and then the Windows team goes and implement the look and feel system wide in a generic way. Then somewhere along the way, the Windows team decided to hard-code the look and feel that you could now do an archeological dig through decades of UI.

> That's fairly decent, given that each one is only on the market for ~1 year.

This makes me wonder if we instead should be counting number of years of OS updates from when it's last available new.

You could try using a letter tray so you could keep all the power bricks in the back. It really depends on how often you'll take the drives out.

But what's the reason for faster Chrome releases?

> The charger side went usb-c awhile back. Now most users should have usb-c chargers, and likely a few usb-c cables.

Given that Apple never included usb-c charger with their iPhone, all Apple had accomplished was creating a bunch of soon to be obsoleted usb-c to lighting cable with this extended timeline

> SketchPad used menus to select patterns and styles to draw with, but Bill replaced them with permanent palettes at the bottom of the screen, and added another prominent palette on the left that contained drawing tools.

This is proof that the Ribbon version of Paint is a step backward: If the Paint window is narrow enough, all the tools end up collapsed, effectively putting them back behind menu.

I have gotten to a point of opening a video in private browsing mode when it's outside my typical interest.

I feel like Captcha already takes into account of how quickly I select the pictures already. If I spend the time to get it perfect, I end up with more challenges than if I just select quickly based on my instincts.

This feature will likely completely disappear once that part of Explorer is rewritten.

The hypothetical Chrome Browser Corporation will likely become like Firefox, trying not upset whoever gives them a search deal.

Even if API rate limit exists and is strictly enforced, it's also easy to bypass it with multiple API keys and over time. Most people adhere to a weekly schedule.

All of these issues you listed could be mitigated with government regulations and a set of to be defined practices for sustainable fish farming. I am not sure why these issues lead to the conclusion that we have to switch to a plant-based diet.

There are consumer protection laws that apply to banks and telecoms already. You are right it might be time to have similar laws for these digital gatekeepers.

> You don't, however, mention which Android phones they switched from.

This is very important since any iPhones have a top-of-the-line CPU for that era. On the other hand, the Samsung's mid-end series (A5x) have very weak CPU and they lag.

I wonder who they are targeting with this restriction on 700 million MAU.

I get that the horse allows the artist to see over the top of the fence into the yard without a ladder, but could we rely on the horse staying still during the drawing process?

> Steve Jobs was notorious for shit listing companies like AMD or Nvidia and it doesn't seem to have been detrimental to Apple whatsoever.

The difference is that Apple has alteratives to AMD CPUs and Nvidia GPUs. Whereas the Nintendo products are unique.

JXL polyfill is definitely the way to go to force Chrome's hand.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying we shouldn't be punishing individuals for a system problem. Is it time to reform the system then?

Safari, rather than Firefox, might be only actor with the market share and motivation to drag out the implementation and adoption of this proposal.

Are we going to see a transition to a pure pass/fail grading system then?

Ironically, once search got better for the users, there was no further need to build comprehensive sites with great content in the hopes of getting added to webrings and directories. All sites need to worry about after were getting backlinks.

After that, sites also stop linking to each other.

Nowhere on the page does it explain how will this grant be used. It asserts that there's nothing preventing them from recreating BCS3-L1 ourselves from commercially available precursor bacteria but it doesn't say if that's the plan.

My guess is this funding will be used to look into the different approaches, and then they will come back with a real project.

It definitely needs to be designed properly.

I once worked in an office where all the windows face a plain interior courtyard. It was terrible as nothing ever moved and you could only see the ground, more windows, and the sky.

It's quite surprising that none of them Desktop leaders were able to leverage their network effect to move to Mobile. Through it's important to note that the mobile leaders today bootstrapped off the phone book.

Facebook messenger was quite something through. They bundled messenging into the Facebook app to get the network effect, then use the network effect to get people to install a separate messenger app.

Is the plan to cultivate the bacteria from the 1 of the 15 test subjects?

One reason could be that the ribbon resizes/hides/collapses buttons depending on the size of the Window. I resizes my word/excel window as I work and it's an ordeal to find the option I want.

I upgraded to Windows 11 specifically for the rounded corners to help tell my windows apart.
