whatwhaaaaat··on Aboriginal ritual passed down over 12,000 years, cave find shows
Why do we think peoples of the past would be unable to distinguish between a normal river flooding and a “world ending” flood? What about the ~450 feet of sea level rise in the last 15k years?
whatwhaaaaat··on [dead]
Good point. It’s not like trump is going to stop current wars. At least he didn’t start any new ones.

We can at least not vote for people who we know for sure will keep retrying the same nonsense that didn’t work from the past. Put Victoria nuland in your cabinet? Not voting for your party next election.

whatwhaaaaat··on [dead]
Is this satire? It reads like it is.

““systemic risks” to society are minimized.”

These people are shitting their pants because the electorate have had enough of their nonsense and voting accordingly so clearly something must be done!

They wanna blow up the Middle East. They wanna blow up Eastern Europe. They want us to absorb all of the people that flee the war we create.

How about I’ll vote against that and nothing you can do on Facebook will change that.

whatwhaaaaat··on Hacking millions of modems and investigating who hacked my modem
It depends. The tr069 managed devices are typically router wifi combo type devices. If you can get a dumb modem that would would likely remove any tr069 vulnerabilities.

The firmware on whatever is doing docsis is going to be updatable by the ISP generally.

Two different mechanisms. The tr069 management and snmp triggered firmware upgrade

whatwhaaaaat··on Hacking millions of modems and investigating who hacked my modem
Even if you buy your own modem they can push firmware to it (and do). The config file your modem downloads includes a cert that allows the isp to do this. You can flash special firmware (used to be called force ware) to prohibit this.
whatwhaaaaat··on Ottawa wants the power to create secret backdoors in networks for surveillance
Interesting response sinse congress is grilling fauci right now on this very topic.

Relevant because we’re supposed to trust the same industry that created the virus to save us.

Since we’re just talking past each other: who is Ralph baric and why did his research get banned at chapel hill?

You do not know what you are talking about with the vaccine but I’m guessing you’re not still getting boaters so that much is good at least.

Just because I’ve been (so far) able to avoid negative repercussions does not mean that I should ignore attempts to unrightfully force medical therapy upon me and react accordingly.

I’m frankly kinda shocked there are still people arguing for it honestly.

Would you mind answering my question if you know?

The point is both countries have been infiltrated by western powers who support either tyrannical religious zealots or liberal causes whenever it suits their political interests which results in societies that tear themselves apart. And the societies tearing themselves apart is the feature not the bug.

whatwhaaaaat··on Ottawa wants the power to create secret backdoors in networks for surveillance
I don’t recall what the 2012 Canada protests were. Guessing OWS? OWS and the vaccine passport protestors have one thing in common - they challenge the ruling class.

I wonder why the ruling class hasn’t opposed social mousetrap identity politics protests.

You can keep playing tribalism all you want. I voted in the primaries for Bernie. I’ve been advocating for a public option my whole life. I’d be willing to bet I am more active in progressive causes than you are.

Everything in America is tied to one’s employment. It was take the shot or starve. Luckily I’m a decent enough engineer to be able to say go fuck yourself and they had no choice but to keep me. MANY of my co workers were not in that position.

I will never vote for democrats again :-)

whatwhaaaaat··on Ottawa wants the power to create secret backdoors in networks for surveillance
Yes people complain about “left leaning protests”. People complain about all sorts of protests. I can’t recall a single protest that wasn’t complained about.

Exactly when did the left leaning protestors have their bank accounts frozen? Exactly when did the left leaning protests get broken up.

All I remember is canadas stupid government supporting the left leaning protests.

In the states I remember fancy Nancy wearing an African shawl kneeling in the capital.

This sort of stuff is too obvious not to see. Good luck.

whatwhaaaaat··on Iran president helicopter in hard landing – state media
Oh interesting. Question since you seem so educated on the matter. Did Rosevelt pay protestors to throw riots in support of Mosaddegh?

If only our national security state was still competent am I right?!

whatwhaaaaat··on Iran president helicopter in hard landing – state media
No the point is not obvious. We spent 25 years getting pictures of extremely isolated instances of afghans wearing western clothes as some justification for continued occupation. Exactly the same playbook tried with Iran.

Is the point to foster renewed interest in occupation by sharing misleading photos of isolated locations?

Operation cyclone led directly to the creation of the taliban.

whatwhaaaaat··on Iran president helicopter in hard landing – state media
What is the point of the linked source? Afghanistan was a war zone for empires just like everywhere else in this region.

Who do you think financed the taliban to fight russia?

whatwhaaaaat··on “Meta spent almost as much as the Manhattan Project on GPUs in today's dollars”
We’re also still paying for the enrichment done in the 40s. There are dumps of radioactive material all over the country that were never properly disposed of. Those costs have been externalized on the populations living near those dumps for 80 years now.

Did you not just explain how the game changed from technology in your own post?

Before all of this unconstitutional collection of Americans information the government had to have a target and go out and collect and tabulate the information.

Now it’s a select where citizen does thing x over y threshold. How is this not changing the game?

whatwhaaaaat··on Amazon increased US plastic packaging despite global phase-out
Can you prove this at all? I’m seeing White Castle offered free refills in the early 60s and plastic drinking straws didn’t become popular until the same time period.
whatwhaaaaat··on Amazon increased US plastic packaging despite global phase-out
I can’t recall the last US restaurant that didn’t have free drink refills. Why would they want to push people to consume something they refill for free faster? Is it possible people just like straws?

whatwhaaaaat··on Silicon Valley is pricing academics out of AI research
Interesting viewpoint since a university should be spending money on the pursuit of knowledge for the sake of knowledge and not profit.

The whole notion that universities should be profiting in some personal form from research conducted at and for the institution is a rot on modern academia.

whatwhaaaaat··on Meta outage
yeah that’s my point. No one who arranges icons by penis is taking time to go file a report on down detector.

Ok great. How does that equate to having down detector filter reports?

whatwhaaaaat··on ShotSpotter: listening in on the neighborhood
his point was that he thinks low income areas are being targeted with a higher police presence. That is so wrong it’s hard to believe oc has ever been to a city in the us. I actually doubt he has for any serious amount of time. High tax areas are covered with police in US cities at a rate far above poor inner city areas.
whatwhaaaaat··on ShotSpotter: listening in on the neighborhood
