wellboy··on The Collector’s Fallacy
How do you get any work done. My pretty fast Macbook, 3y old, becomes really slow after only 15 tabs open in 1 window.

And facebook, just like snapchat also only moves pictures, text and news around then?

wellboy··on Why Earth's History Appears So Miraculous
Why is the moon so unlikely when many planets in the solar system have 1 moon or more.

You make it sound like it is a linerar relationship though, e.g. 5x 1h sun exposure over a week is the same as 1x 5h exposure. However, it is very much an exponential relationship, e.g. 50x 1h exposure is the same as 1x 5h.

wellboy··on Is it time to take the Hyperloop seriously? No
You just completely made things up.

All the things you listed amount to 10x less costs than the bullet trains. You can have a look at hyperloop costs.

wellboy··on Ask HN: Is it 'normal' to struggle so hard with work?
This sounds a lot like the reason is lack of purpose, being passionate about what you do.

When you're freelancing, most projects don't mean anything to you other than cash, so it's understandable that you don't find much motivation for them.

Have you thought about what you're really passionate about and find a company that you find really awesome and work for them? Maybe tesla, spacex, watsi, or a new small hot social media app are all very exciting.

Or if you always had that one problem and it really bugged you that there didn't exist a solution for it, ever thought of making a product out of it?

> once the chain is up and running — will buy a thousand hamburgers or three

Like almost all dichotomies, it's a false dichotomy.

Most ICOs end up going up by 2x, but having the 1000x you described are very rare, plus ICOs going down in price are also not as frequent. Most ICOs stay in their price range.

I tried that for 2 months and it didn't change anything.

Yes hair is a little less greasy compared to when you shower every 1-2 days and then not for 4 days, but you still need to wash your hair with vinegar and baking powder (wtf) if you don't want it to look greasy.

When miners give up, difficulty decreases, miners come back in. Checks and balances.
wellboy··on Asana raises $75M Series D round led by Generation Investment Management
Ah ok, then valuation should actually be $4B no? :D
wellboy··on Asana raises $75M Series D round led by Generation Investment Management
Where did you find that paying customers have 100 users on average? In that case it would also only be 30,000 customers * 100 users * 10 = $30M a year.
wellboy··on Asana raises $75M Series D round led by Generation Investment Management
30,000 paying customers after 6 years. How much do they make from each customer, $100?

That's $3M revenue per year justifying a $30M valuation at the high end. How do they come up with $1B with slow growth like that? Is it because they have a famous founding team? Seems like a small startup with little growth potential, who can raise any money they want anyway, because their founders are billionaires.

Not hating on that, but how do they think of paying back their investors. Is this an ego thing, that they think they MUST build a billion dollar startup even though their revenue and growth is tiny?

Bitcoin won't be the crypto payment method. It'll be the Crypto gold that keeps the market together. Another small and light coin will be the payment method and possibly replace bitcoin after a while.

Yes, they do 20cm white water waves, which is very easy. Difficulty increases by 5 if you go to the 2 m green water waves, where it usually takes you 10-20 mins of constant paddling through 2 m waves until you're behind the break.
wellboy··on Michael Moritz: Silicon Valley Would Be Wise to Follow China's Lead
Not true. Work smart, not hard.
wellboy··on Michael Moritz: Silicon Valley Would Be Wise to Follow China's Lead
Yes, so that they can accumulate wealth, so that they can build a safety net, welfare, better education, freedom of speech, so that they finally can start working less in maybe 10 years.

Working so much loses its importance once your country already has those things, because it burns an entire generation, where people aren't humans, but just working machines.

Another really short sighted article by a very very smart VC.

This would imply that all cryptos are handled by 10 bots, which isn't the case. Coinbase added 1 million users in June last year, and that's just one exchange, so think if crypto owners approximating 100 million people. They sure also buy cryptos, not only bots.

wellboy··on Decentralized Blockchain-Based Electronic Marketplaces
> You can't get bigger than a juice company announcing it will be doing "something with the blockchain".

As in, you can't get higher than 1,000 using blockchain technology? What about 50,000,000 using blockchain techhnology. The point of blockchain techhnology is that any company can create their own token and have a decentralized currency, independent of banks or country legislations.

So in that respect, blockchain technology is at 1/50,000th of what it's made for. Peak? No.

wellboy··on Miners Aren’t Friends
It isn't really hard to mine profitably, you can look up which ones are profitable and choose out of over 1,000 coins, of which 100 are already above market cap of $500M, so that's not the bootleneck.
