What The Actual Fuck?

HN is no place for a racist dick. Kindly fuck off.

[edited to add - I expect downvotes or even a ban for my language. I will find a way of coping with my grief, so don't worry about it]

Every possible case? Your analogy was terrible. Your follow up was much better, and is what you should have said in the first place.

> Doctors get really peeved at people who research online and self-diagnose

Good doctors encourage patients to understand their condition. Let's not conflate that with exasperation over people who have a week old cough that they've decided is lung cancer because they've spent too much time on wrongdiagnosis.com.

urbanjunkie··on Climate was hotter in Roman, medieval times than now
Ok, so you are selective in what you choose to accept as fact. That's fine, we won't get into bias effects and the subjectivity of any possible definition of tangibility.

It's also interesting that you would categorise the holocaust as a meme or an idea, but I think that pretty much sums up the way your own personal biases affect your thinking process.

urbanjunkie··on Climate was hotter in Roman, medieval times than now
Sighs.

So you must necessarily not accept anything without having obtained the raw data, formed a hypothesis, processed the data, and formed a conclusion, by yourself.

Or are you just selective in the facts you choose to accept without personal research and verification and the ones you don't.

Ludicrous hypocrisy.

urbanjunkie··on Climate was hotter in Roman, medieval times than now
So, climate change and the holocaust are fabricated.

Anything else you wish to add to your list of things we've been lied to about?

urbanjunkie··on A skeptic faces possible charges for debunking Mumbai’s miracle statue
Sighs

Actually the burden of evidence is on you. I know it's inconvenient, especially as you have little that you can cite, but they, them's the breaks.

Have you really been to Auschwitz? I don't believe you. I think you may have been near Auschwitz, or perhaps you're read about it. Prove that you've been there. Then explain how it's even vaguely relevant. At this point, I'll tell you I've been to more than one concentration camp, but that doesn't mean anything.

Oh, I just assumed that you didn't believe the moon landings happened. And it's amusing that you're pretending to not understand the point.

urbanjunkie··on A skeptic faces possible charges for debunking Mumbai’s miracle statue
Actually, YOU find ME a credible citation that supports your little tinpot revisionist theory.

Of course, you won't, as that will expose the lunacy of your position.

ps - the moon landings actually happened.

urbanjunkie··on If you run a contest as a startup, don't be dishonest. JPEGmini scammed me.
I have a second twitter account that is followed only by me for this kind of bullshit. If more people did the same, we'd get fewer companies encouraging Twitter pollution, and consequently fewer children crying about how they got 'scammed' on HN.
urbanjunkie··on A skeptic faces possible charges for debunking Mumbai’s miracle statue
There's a mountain of evidence that supports the fact that millions of Jewish people were killed in concentration camps.

Are you seriously claiming that the biggest issue that holocaust deniers have is that the "official" version isn't "100% accurate".

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
You can pretend that homosexuality is a conscious choice akin to earning more money than someone else, it just increases the pity I feel for you.

Luckily, you're on the losing side of the trend, as more and more states and countries in the world pass laws that promote equality.

I shall now let you have the last word. Have a lovely life, and try to find a way to eradicate that hate you have in your heart - it's the Christian thing to do.

> gay rights activists are not just asking to be left alone, they're asking that we explicitly expand our definition to include their relationships.

How dare those gays demand to be treated like everyone else? How very dare they?

If anyone needs me, I'll be catching up with the latest in modern thinking over at the Westboro Baptist Church site.

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
It's instructive how quickly you decide that public opinion is worthless when you don't have it on your side.

The reason I don't address the rest of your points is that fundamentally they boil down to this

"Gay people don't deserve the same rights as straight people"
The version of you, 150 years ago. would be saying the same thing about black people.

Having destroyed your arguments regarding popular support for your position, I feel no great compunction to school you morally, or to teach you basic precepts from your own religion. I will say one thing - I am 100% certain that your Jesus Christ would be on my side of this debate - not yours.

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
I'm not trying to do anything of the sort, so stop it. Your position is reprehensible enough without you trying to pull a stunt like that.

You have repeatedly asserted that multiple referenda shows your position is supported by the majority of Americans. All I'm doing is equating your assertion with that of the you from 150 years ago - the "social conservative" who doesn't believe a slave should have the same rights as a white man.

We'll say nothing about the fact that the trend of public opinion seems to be inexorably towards more tolerance and less bigotry, as that would just make your reliance on popular opinion even more farcical.

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
> over and over again referenda have shown that majorities in most states DO NOT want this to happen.

Millions of Americans agreed with slavery - that does not make slavery right.

Treating human beings equally, when there is no valid reason not to, isn't something that you get to have an opinion on.

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
Would you have said that it's acceptable for black people to be forced to ride the back of a bus? Or perhaps that women should not be allowed to vote.

The idea that all ideas have merit is complete shite. Some ideas and attitudes are reprehensible - the more so when being cloaked in language like "social conservatism"

urbanjunkie··on The Oatmeal fights back, snaps photo of cash, sends money to charity
Then you should be both embarrassed and ashamed of yourself.

It's not social conservatism, it's bigotry.

urbanjunkie··on Delivering a consistent Twitter experience
From Sippey's post:

You need to be able to see expanded Tweets and other features that make Twitter more engaging and easier to use. These are the features that bring people closer to the things they care about. These are the features that make Twitter Twitter. We're looking forward to working with you to make Twitter even better.

We really don't need to be able to see these features - it's you who needs us to see them. These are not features that bring us closer to things we care about, these are features that enable you to sell us to brands.

urbanjunkie··on Safari Vs Chrome iOS JavaScript Benchmark
The snappiness could be because iOS Chrome pre-fetches pages if you're on a wifi network. A lot of the lag of Safari on iOS seems to be in the actual fetching of pages.

urbanjunkie··on Eric Schmidt's thoughts about Pakistan
> The question I would have like Schmidt to answer is this: is Pakistan a country?

Given that there is no real agreed definition as to what exactly a country is, it's unlikely that Schmidt could answer that. Also your definitions about what a country is are strangely arbitrary and seem to have little to do with whether a country is a country or not.

But, but almost any definition of country, Pakistan is a country. It may have many problems, but it's absurd to suggest that it might not be.

urbanjunkie··on Eric Schmidt's thoughts about Pakistan
> Corruption is everywhere

Of course there is corruption everywhere, but in most countries it's nowhere near as endemic or systematic as it is in Pakistan (and India and China). I can get by in my life here in the UK without needing to bribe anyone, but bribery is a daily fact of my parents' life in India (and similarly for parts of the family in Pakistan). Deflecting this issue does you no credit.

> Countries full of educated people are more difficult to manage. . For example France is badly in need of deep reforms but they will simply never happen because French would go on strike as a result of such reforms

So, how would you explain strikes in Pakistan against reforms to the blasphemy laws?

> in France you'd get a 90 Euros fine for speeding on a standard road.

So what?

urbanjunkie··on Dear Marketers: Enough with the QR codes
And for the most part those situations are not ones where the presence of QR codes would be of significant benefit.

Note that I think QR codes are great for things like airline tickets or baggage tracking tags.
