underseacables··on Apple introduced its Retina MacBook 10 years ago today
I just got a Macbook Pro and it is absolutely an amazing machine. The butterfly key board, touch bar, and no mag safe kept me away. Glad to be back
underseacables··on What ketamine does to the human brain
Everybody wants to rule the world
underseacables··on What ketamine does to the human brain
I had severe depression and did the ketamine nasal spray at a clinic. I didn't feel like it really helped me, but according to my therapist, my mood did markedly improved. Unfortunately, the process is anything but pleasant. The greatest thing I ever did was to say yes to doing shrooms.
underseacables··on X.com Is Down
Wow. They really did a number. Really destroyed everything. It took X like 30 minutes! to restore function.
underseacables··on X.com Is Down
..you can do that?! I've been dreaming of the ability to block certain words and phrases from Twitter. Blue sky is too chaotic for me… I'm OK sticking with Twitter so long as I can block words and phrases.

underseacables··on Unseen photos of U2 and The Smiths released as Maxwell Hall Archive is unveiled
I'm not sure if it's just me but I only see ONE photo of U2. By the title I was expecting to see more. I hope more concert venues digitize stuff like this.
underseacables··on A shirt whose price increases by 1 euro with every purchase
Interesting. Reminds me of TeeFury, which only sells a T-shirt design for 24 hours.
underseacables··on Automatically tagging politician when they use their phone on the livestreams
Please do this for congress!! It would be fascinating to see stats posted for each person, etc. BUT more interesting would be the response of the politicians. Will they use their devices less, or will the cameras be ordered turned off and the live stream halted?
underseacables··on DOGE's Misplaced War on Software Licenses
The government purchases bulk licensing agreements, and they use the licenses as they need them. Granted, they should not be charged for those licenses until they actually use them, otherwise they are just pissing money down the drain. Seems like a case of well we have plenty of money, so why not?
underseacables··on Mozilla flamed by Firefox fans after reneging on promises to not sell their data
As soon as they got Pocket I cancel my subscription. I love it, but I will not support Mozilla.
underseacables··on Microsoft begins turning off uBlock Origin and other extensions in Edge
You guys are using Edge?
underseacables··on Despite sticker prices, the real cost of getting a degree has been going down
It would help improve things if universities, not the government, was responsible for student loan debt. Schools have no incentive to lower costs when they have no liability
underseacables··on BYD has already produced its first solid-state cells
According to the battery business CTO, BYD expects to start “mass demonstration” of solid-state batteries around 2027. However, he did not provide any information on the number of prototype cells produced to date.

Awesome if true, but I'll believe it when I see it. Until then like similar announcements from Toyota and others, I'll hold my enthusiasm.

underseacables··on Amazon now discloses you're buying a license to view Kindle eBooks
Library Genesis has been a great alternative
underseacables··on DOGE's only public ledger is riddled with mistakes
I can't recall when government was so enthusiastic about rooting out fraud. I kind of like this, and I want the government to actively pursue fraud and mismanagement. Feels like it always gets buried in some bureaucratic report.
underseacables··on 'The tyranny of apps': those without smartphones are unfairly penalised
It is unfair. A close friend of mine has brain damage, is low income, and he can't really use a smart phone. He just has a simple flip phone and it's all he has. It has been isolating for him with working and managing his life.
underseacables··on HP ditches 15-minute wait time policy due to 'feedback'
The same could be said about a lot of companies. I think most people, the vast majority, just don't realize or understand until they purchase a product and have experience with it. Maybe there needs to be more consumer education about operations, products, and corproate behavior towards consumers.
underseacables··on DOGE employees don't understand the basics of SQL
At this point, I think it's just a glee at trashing and taking people down.
underseacables··on Andrej Karpathy: "I was given early access to Grok 3 earlier today"
In conclusion: "For now, big congrats to the xAI team, they clearly have huge velocity and momentum and I am excited to add Grok 3 to my "LLM council" and hear what it thinks going forward."
underseacables··on Policing the internet in Germany, where hate speech, insults are a crime [video]
But who decides if it is an insult?
underseacables··on Bosch's brake-by-wire system may be the next big leap in automotive tech
Cheaper.
underseacables··on I Paid $70 for an AI Boyfriend. It Was So Worth It
This is sad and a little depressing
underseacables··on New DOGE site update breaks down government jobs by salary/age/headcount
Isn't this already public information? I agree the transparency is a great thing, and any data that is publicly available. Should be easy for citizens to research and see. I'm just wondering if this is taking data that is already available, or is it releasing data that is not generally publicly available?
underseacables··on UnitedHealth Is Sick of Everyone Complaining About Its Claim Denials
And they wonder why so many people are supporting Luigi. I could never condone murder, but I understand and deeply sympathetic. United is the comcast of health insurance
underseacables··on [dead]
I guess every world leader will want a billionaire now.
underseacables··on US Civil servants are being asked who they voted for in 2024 election
No, I'm sorry that's not true. That's absolutely illegal. Everyone who works in the federal government knows this. If just one person was confronted by their manager and asked who they voted for, that person would already be on the news screaming, and the union would be having a meltdown.

I call BS.

underseacables··on Almost one in 10 people use the same four-digit PIN
I mixed it up though and did 4-3-2-1
underseacables··on We're bringing Pebble back
I have kept my Pebble WAITING for this day! Horayy!
underseacables··on UK tax collector's phone service deliberately bad to push users online, say MPs
This reminds me of when I tried to call the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The system would say thank you for calling the office of personnel management, and then it would hang up on you. Every single time.

I think most phone systems are deliberately designed to make it as difficult as possible to reach someone.
