ubanholzer··on Kimi K2.7 Code is generally available in GitHub Copilot
Nice idea. I just asked Haiku to do the same in Claude Chat on iOS: it created a interactive react game, implemented the rules and let it play. Clever move for 1$ input and 5$ output, Anthropic!
ubanholzer··on Curl will not accept vulnerability reports during July 2026
This is great. Good decision.

ubanholzer··on Cloudflare automatically fixes Polyfill.io for free sites
CloudFlare is "fixing" all websites using their proxy automatically, meanwhile polyfill.io is using CloudFlare as a CDN. That's funny.
ubanholzer··on Show HN: CompressX, my FFmpeg wrapper for macOS
The app connects to telemetrydeck.com. Sadly, couldn't find any opt-out setting.
ubanholzer··on 0x0: Share Files from Terminal
I switched from a self-hosted transfer.sh instance to a selfhosted ffsend instance with r2 backend. Quality is much higher, easy to run on docker and its end-to-end encrypted. With the cli tools you can easily upload files from command line.

There are sone public instances too:

ubanholzer··on Upcoming Bugzilla releases and more fun stuff
For us, GitLab is the perfect match between enterprise (GitHub, Jira) and open-source software. We used the OSS version for years and switched to EE 2-3 years ago.
ubanholzer··on Toicon.com embeds your IP-address in the SVG icon file you've downloaded
Found some Toicon.com icons on Wikipedia, but they all have 127.0.0.1 as IP address
ubanholzer··on IPv4 pricing
Depends on the location. If iWay does have a POP in your network, they can offer native IPv6 because their DHCP does support it. If they don't have a POP, they often (need to) use Swisscom to "proxy" your packages (like Crossover7). And because the Swisscom DHCP Server can't assign IPv6 leases currently, your router needs to tunnel IPv6 packages in IPv4 packages to the infrastructure of iWay.

ubanholzer··on IPv4 pricing
60€ / month plus a one-time-fee of 100€. if you want 25 gbit/s (and if the POP supports it), you pay a one-time-fee of 310€. But the availability is currently very restricted to urban regions
ubanholzer··on Only 6 of the 50 largest companies are in Europe. LVMH is highest at #18
It's not always a benefit to have the biggest companies in the country. EU has a lot of stable SMEs, which helps the middle class to stay strong, thus creates a stable and safe environment for the people. In the US, there are about 50% of the workforce in SME, in the EU there are more than 66%. It's better and healthier to diversify.
ubanholzer··on Stable 1.2 Gigabit/s Internet achieved in moving train in Switzerland
Just wanted to clarify that this is not valid for the whole continent and it would work for western europe to move the traffic on rails.
ubanholzer··on Stable 1.2 Gigabit/s Internet achieved in moving train in Switzerland
Switzerland moved 40% of all freight traffic kilometerd to the rails too, which is really a lot. (https://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfsstatic/dam/assets/10547450/maste...)
ubanholzer··on Stable 1.2 Gigabit/s Internet achieved in moving train in Switzerland
Cheapest 4g flatrate subscription in CH is 25€/m. Average is 60-70€/m
ubanholzer··on Stable 1.2 Gigabit/s Internet achieved in moving train in Switzerland
You must be jokin‘. Switzerland paid 11.2 billion in 2016. that would be 600 billions compared in US. But US invested 25.9 in 2016.

Switzerland moved all trucks to the rails to get more capacity on the streets (successfully). So this investments paid out. Fewer traffic = fewer stressed people = more productivity = fewer lost hours

ubanholzer··on Stable 1.2 Gigabit/s Internet achieved in moving train in Switzerland
Flying is just too cheap for the environment. 1 EUR per km for car/plain and 0.4-0.5 by train should be the minimum.
ubanholzer··on YouTube broke for 40% of the UK population after rolling out 60 FPS videos
This should push Boris and UK GOV to subsidise fiber development. It’s insane if 40% of the population just has <=8 Mbit/s in 2020!
ubanholzer··on Show HN: Givemeguid.com – CLI/curl friendly GUIDs
If a programmer isn't able to code a GUID generator and uses a HTTP request instead, he really shouldn't code.
