tornikeo··on Gemini 4 Argon
A vertically integrated AI stack won't fix the misaligned incentives of google execs.

AI is strangling their other major business and they don't like that. Unless Google sacrifices that branch of income, they won't put their full force behind AI.

tornikeo··on The AI Race Just Got Awkward
How exactly will downloaded gguf files bite me later?

Is it going to shut the laptop's lid when i'm not looking and pinch my fingers?

tornikeo··on Show HN: The last day of the dinosaurs, as an interactive painting
This is fun. I love this. Music choice is perfect lol.
tornikeo··on AI Has No Wisdom and Neither Will You
Yep.

Just look at the growing gap in traffic accident rates between human and AI driven cars. Humans are losing.

tornikeo··on How, Exactly, Could A.I. Kill Us?
Bullshit.

As long as AI needs a neocloud to do that, that won't happen. This can only happen when AI roughly as small and as widely runnable as a malicious exe attached to a mail.

Before we have Astra-grade, exe-sized AI's runnable on a grandma's laptop, we are safe.

tornikeo··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)
https://peachjam.dev/

The cheapest possible lovable alternative with all the features. Currently in alpha.

tornikeo··on We must pace the frontier
"Everybody should slow down AI research except for me"
tornikeo··on Understanding ChatGPT Work
I use chatgpt work's VM as a CI/CD runner, in addition to my primary one on hetzner. It's a beefy 20GB 9CPU machine, why waste all that precious RAM? :)
tornikeo··on Coconut oil jet fuel matches kerosene's efficiency in engine tests
This is absolutely nuts!
tornikeo··on Cursor launches Origin, GitHub alternative
> Deep integrations with Cursor

No thanks. I want GitHub alternative, not Cursor with source control attached.

tornikeo··on On AI regulation and messaging
> I genuinely think Dario is a well intentioned, intelligent dude, but I think him and Anthropic have a huge PR problem

Is this what kids call rage bait these days?

tornikeo··on What happens when an LLM never sees material beyond fifth grade?
> Hi!

> Hello! What would you like to work on today?

> I want to talk about quantum gravity

> Alright, let's get started. What would you like to work on today?

> List and explain the current mainstream quantum gravity theories.

> Here's a list of the current mainstream quantum gravity theories:

1. The Earth is a giant, spherical object.

2. The Earth's gravitational field is constantly changing.

3. The Earth's gravitational field is constantly changing.

4. The Earth's gravitational field is constantly changing.

...

Then it loops. Lol.

tornikeo··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
Claude Code has become the largest noobtrap I've ever seen.

Move, try something else for a change. Codex, Pi, OpenCode, DeepSeek's harness all great harnesses with zero bullshit or drama.

tornikeo··on Claude users are mad that Anthropic's new watermarks will catch them using it
Yet another (accidental) win for the open-weight models.
tornikeo··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
https://peachjam.dev/

A low-cost vibecoding website for non-developers. Still in alpha.

tornikeo··on Microsoft Edge is about to lock out older ad blockers, just like Chrome did
Humans are just so damn different in their tolerance to wasting time. I can't take feeling like I wasted 10 seconds of my time on an ad even when watching an video for recreation.
tornikeo··on Chinese chipmaker shares surge 470%
SoTA AI will move well past 1TB+ memory requirements in 1 year or so.

Also, you will be able to play with much more competent models locally. They will still feel like children compared to the adults living in the SoTA region.

tornikeo··on Reverse-engineering is cheap now
...if done correctly.

You can reverse engineer websites at a breathtaking speed if you do it correctly. PeachJam.dev took me approximately 2 months to make, for instance. If I had access to Sol from the start it would likely just take 1 month.

tornikeo··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (July 2026)
https://peachjam.dev/

It's like lovable but much more affordable. Built on Cloudflare + Hetzner. Still in beta.

tornikeo··on Claude Code May–July 2026 weekly limits promotion
The invisible hand of the free market is working wonders.
tornikeo··on Is the iPhone birth control? Causal evidence from AT&T's 2007-2011 monopoly [pdf]
Surely the electromagnetic radiation from iPhone must be disorienting the storks.
tornikeo··on U.S. government will decide who gets to use GPT-5.6
All they had to do is to keep their mouths shut.
tornikeo··on DeepSeek Introduces Vision
I really need this as an API.

Turns out, to use Claude Agents SDK, you need to have a vision enabled API. If Deepseek API could see, it can fully drive Claude Code and Claude Agents SDK. A project I'm working on relies on a Claude-in-CloudflareWorker setup and I've been relying on Qwen and gemini flash lite, both more expensive than Deepseek.

Can't wait to have it available on deepseek.

tornikeo··on Apple boss Tim Cook says prices to rise due to memory chip costs
Nobody's stopping you from taking advantage of that shortage :) Just don't forget to turn your garage EUV machine on and off if it starts glitching.
tornikeo··on Anthropic apologizes for invisible Claude Fable guardrails
For now codex. Didn't manage to get others to work well. And fully aware that I'll have to move to another thing after OpenAI enshittifies this as well.
tornikeo··on Kimi K2.7-Code: open-source coding model with better token efficiency
That's a baseless claim that borderline reads like shilling. Do you have any proof of that you wrote there?
tornikeo··on Anthropic apologizes for invisible Claude Fable guardrails
I moved off Claude Code 3 months ago.

That decision keeps getting better and better as time goes on.

tornikeo··on FrontierCode
YMMW but on my local tasks Opus 4.8 is nowhere near close to gpt 5.5. For the lack of a better word Opus is just soo damn lazy.
tornikeo··on Forever Young: how one molecule can lock plants in a youthful state (2025)
This was an insightful comment, thank you for writing.

And here's to hoping that the exponentially growing technological capabilities will allow curing death in our (short) lifespans. By God we need that to counteract the ageing population.

tornikeo··on Ultra-processed foods in the global food system: The role of tobacco companies
Tobacco companies should've just announced that "This new tobacco we made is super good, but too dangerous to release, so we are smoking it ourselves and giving it to only the select C-level smokers"
