It works for me. The secret is simple: Eat food, real food. the trick is to know what real food is (6 main food groups: Beans, whole grains, veg, fruits, nuts/seeds, tubers)
what i find fascinating is, you'll see soooo many advertisements about various medications for so many illnesses, all of which are under the umbrella of metabolic syndrome. and then in the background, you'll see people consuming ice cream and pizza, etc. these ads aren't randomly constructed. every short scene is designed to communicate a certain message.
but this is the nature of all employed work: "submissive attitude toward the boss." Even if you're the CEO of a major corporation, you still have a submissive attitude towards shareholders.
It's a really cool looking and expensive and slightly less practical pickup truck. The designers really went all out in making it look cool, everything from the hub caps to the bed but it does come with some practicality issues.
Personally, I don't understand why there's such an enormous market for really expensive pickup trucks. I'd much rather have one of those k trucks from japan, the really small and cheap ones from the 80s or 90s. easy to repair, reliable and super practical. and they look cool in their own way too. i'd want it to be electric though.
absolutely. it's a matter of perspective. thinking that you and only you have the "moral" high road, just leads to oppression. good and bad are relative to who's making the judgement
i don't think you'll find widespread agreement on what's moral or not. what's moral for you maybe abhorrent to someone else. there's not necessarily any absolute good or bad, it's all a matter of perspective.
look, you can't just pretend that if the US weren't there they won't get their hands on AI software to do what they need done. if the US doesn't partner with them then China will or russia will or any number of other countries.
with the massive excess of software talent that's flooding the market, they're going to get what they're after one way or another.
you can get a laptop with a much bigger screen and a keyboard for as little as 100 to 300$ and it will be much much easier to get work done on, than an apple phone. so i think apple is still very much a luxury product.
Experientally, my brother with ADHD and severe depression, has told me many times, that he notices a huge difference in the severity of his depression based on how much he exercises.
This! Absolutely. It's as if people think the brain isn't even an organ in the body and that it's completely disconnected from the rest of the body. After doing a ton of research and listening to many talks on metabolic syndrome and all the diseases caused by our modern diets, I've realized just how impactful diet can be on the body, the brain and the many modern diseases caused by our modern diets and lifestyle.
>>> "The most egregious thing you can do with any activity is daydream about how you can make money off of it. That’s the quickest way to optimize for the wrong things and suck the fun right out of it. Most likely you will stop doing the activity almost immediately, so save the money-making schemes for work."
This is an important point. The quickest way to make something unfun, is to get paid for it! That's because the second you get paid for something is the second you start doing it for someone else, creating value for someone else. you get paid to create value for others, not yourself. Play is creating value for yourself, not others that's why you don't get paid to play.
for chinese, if you're not capable of recognizing those sounds reliable, it won't just be really hard, it'll be completely impossible. even if every word spoken is one you already know, if your hearing can't distinguish it, then you don't have a chance.
i've spent a considerable amount of time trying to learn mandarin. I can tell you there's far less sound diversity in mandarin. sound recognition is incredibly hard for that language for english speakers. everything sounds the same and even the four tones can be difficult to differentiate between. what makes it even harder is all the words and grammar that's left out, that the listener is forced to determine everything from context which makes it even harder if you didn't recognize a few of the words.
if you're saying labor is expensive and that building a house is too costly then we're not very good at building housing. if it takes 2000 days of your labor (exchanged for $ then purchase a house of course) but it only took 1000 days a century ago, that means we're getting worse at building housing, not better.
Yup and as a user of things like virtualbox and docker and numerous other softwares I really hate updates and so called "upgrades". I'd rather have a stable version that gets updated far less frequently.
seriously, mankind has been able to do this for 10s of thousands of years and all the sudden now, we're so pathetic we can't build housing anymore. do people really believe this?
why can't the news outlets just charge people when they arrive on the site? just paywall it and let people read the article for like 5 cents or something?
i know this has been tried and supossedly didn't work. but why not? I would gladly be willing to pay 5 cents to read an article I like but I sure as hell am not going to shell out 250$+ yearly subscription for it (just to read one article), like most news sites do these days.
I have no doubt that EVs will be a big part of the future couple of decades but at some point there's not going to be enough lithium and other rare earth minerals around and that's going to drive prices up.
i don't why this is downvoted. it seems pretty logical to me. if someone commits a crime and then goes to jail, they can't commit the crime again, right?
if labor has so little bargaining power this suggests a huge over supply of labor which contradicts the low unemployment rate.
is this happening wide spread or is it just undocumented workers? I would assume, undocumented works have to put up with such mistreatment but everyone else who's not on a H1B should just be able to get another job, right?
it's a poorly written article because it didn't explain how the wage theft happens. i mean does the pay stub simply not reflect all the hours they worked? are they talking about overtime? is this for part time work or full time? for full time, it should just be 40 hours, how does the employer not pay out the full 40 hours?
