I think that some EU court ruled that only actual milk can be called milk so no more Soy Milk, Almond Milk etc. Don't think that it is enforced anywhere yet.
My knowledge of the Amish is obviously rather slim but why can't they take a plane but can take the bus? I know I that they shun most modern technology suite h as cars etc but I would have thought if they can't take a plane that they also wouldn't be able to take the train.
Well perfection at predicting the future is impossible. While I don't know what level would be acceptable, your option of never removing a child to safety doesn't seem right either.
I know that citizen's arrest obviously varies alot depending on country etc, and even then seems to be a somewhat grey area. However would assume (and hope) that you couldn't perform a citizen's arrest anywhere for simply littering.
I do it all the time. Split a bill in a restaurant, repay someone for tickets that they bought for me, getting my flatmates to pay their share of the electric bill, paying a flatmate back for stuff that they picked up in the shops for me, loan someone money, get a loan to someone repaid, settling up after losing some money at poker. That's all within the last few weeks.
How does one go about requesting an airstrike from the USAF? Is there a form that you need to fill out? Asking for a friend.
Seriously though, it would be interesting to know how that conversation went.
I know that Paris had similar restrictions on cars a few times recently. If your car had an even number it could be used on one day, odd on another. If I remember correctly they also made all public transport in the city free for them days too.
Another part that effects the current prison population is the length of sentences. One country might imprison less people but for much longer so the total population at one time might be very high.
Slightly different scenario, but my cousin was born in the UK and therefor was a British citizen but was also an Irish citizen through his mother. He works at big defense contractor and had to get security clearance (pretty low level one). Because of his dual citizenship he is not allowed to work on certain projects. I suppose it might count as exporting classified information to a foreign national or something like that.
Kind of had the same issue with post/zip codes for Ireland as up until very recently we didn't have them. I remember it was annoying when companies with their European head quarters in Ireland and they had mandatory post code fields in their forms. I even knew some people that had some issues opening bank accounts in the UK because it was mandatory in the computer system that the teller was using and they had to get a manager to work around it for them.
That only deals with types of requests, or the user making the request etc. It doesn't do anything about how the requested data/info etc is used. I suppose it is closer to a licence agreement. I don't think that there can be any technical way to enforce it only some sort of legal way.
This might be a somewhat unpopular opinion but I think that there should be some way (definitely not through criminal prosecution) for a website or similar to say "You can use my service for free, but only under the following restrictions". Not sure what the "punishment" should be for breaking these rules.
Recently enough a group of doctors went on strike with perhaps one of the most reasonable demands I have ever heard. They didn't want to continue to do shifts that were over 24 hours long!
Was just reading up on Lèse majasté laws and didn't realize that quite a few European countries still have them. Some are for insulting a foreign head of state, like they have in Germany and Poland, and some are still for insulting the royalty. There have actually been several recent prosecutions too.
Somewhat similar to some problems I used to have with sleeping. If I was particularly stressed and had trouble getting to sleep a couple of days in a row. Then I would be stressed, tired because of lack of sleep and now starting to stress about not being able to get to sleep leading me to find it even harder to sleep.
I knew someone that had a pretty decent bike and he purposely made it look crap. He put loads of crappy stickers on it, wrapped different parts of it with different coloured tape etc. Not sure did it actually change anything, but it has never been stolen.
Derry vs Londonderry being one. Its interesting how different publications have different style guide rules to handle it as best as possible. I can't remember which it was, but one had that it would always be called Londonderry first, the Derry for the rest of the article/piece.
All countries have a Postal Code / ZIP Code or equivalent. Ireland only very recently added them and called them Eircodes (because of course we did). It used to be slightly annoying having to find some combination of characters that the online form would accept as they often varied site to site. Interestingly enough, several of these companies had their European head-quarters in Ireland. Also having to talk to the bank manager because the cashier in a UK bank wouldn't let me open an account without giving a valid postcode for my Irish address.
I really don't think that it should be a social media company's responsibility to police the internet. If a person posts something illegal, I think it should be that person that should be punished and it should be the job of the government/police/courts to do so. The social media company could then remove the content after that.
Not 100% but I thought that android asks you the first time you click on a maps/wiki etc link would you rather use browser or app and whether you want to do it once or always.
I agree with you that choice is good. That is kinda why I proposed my very simplistic solution of Google offering two ways of searching. One stream which tightly integrates with the Google Ecosystem which would be a plus for many people (like myself) and another where they just give you the results without any integration.
The thing is, personally I prefer getting integrated results from Google's other search services when I do a Google search. I like getting Google Maps results when I search for a location, I like getting Google Flights results etc. When I do a Google search I am not just using it as a simple website search. I want it to use it to search the whole Google suite of services. If they are forced to stop doing this it will make my search experience worse for me.
Random, maybe silly idea. Maybe they could start providing two search streams. One would just be a simpler website search while the other would be a more involved google services search as well as a general website search. This way search users could explicitly say that they want to see direct integrated results from the whole Google ecosystem.
Honestly the idea of the DUP having actual power in Westminster scares me. They are even more conservative then the Conservatives, especially about social issues.
