The only way to be content is to not play.
Alternatively, use a keyboard with QMK, or install a dedicated application like KMonad.

Edit: All these books made the cut, there were others that I never completed / disliked / wouldn't recommend, or were just plain mediocre / bad.
looks like I didn't misunderstand at all.
QMK (keyboard's firmware, helps me do things an order of magnitude faster)
Asking people to "take the quick way out", though, IS asking someone to kill himself for having an opinion you don't seem to like.
It's also a big difference in outlook -- people that would scoff at life extension would also be the people ready to "end" something in life, and not constantly be at the teat of something. For example, young soldiers in WW1. That sort of outlook is alien to most now, modernity's pit of comfort makes a fool of anyone who partakes.
Github (aka Microsoft) should take notice -- Valve could be a big software player in the next decade.
"OSS dev payment pipelines / mentoring" is passé. Putting all their code into a LLM (of sorts) is not the way forward either. There's still a LOT of OS issues, and Valve seems to have surmounted a very large one, WITHOUT angering anyone.

It's very easy on the hands and I never have to guess where my fingers are. It's also easy to learn, and you won't lose your row-stagger proficiency. It's like learning to type on your phone. If you change the ergonomics of the situation (cramping hands in the middle (regular keyboard) versus sitting upright with hands at shoulder width (split keyboard)) your brain will interpret it as a new, separate skill.
Also, the switches can be laptop-style or regular, and they are much smoother and easier to press. It'll take a month or two to really get up to speed but maybe abandoning a learnt skill is the way forward here.
Also, the firmware for these keyboards is painless - QMK now has a GUI (VIA).
Edit:
Switching to a better keyboard layout will also help. Colemak Mod-DH is MUCH better than QWERTY, and has the most-used letters on the home row and enables rolling motions.
In my opinion, most of this will turn into a way to game the system. Like another comment said, this is Microsoft's "Summer Of Code".
For a successful open source funding story, take a look at Mkdocs-Material, which recently crossed $10k/mo:
Really, I don't think it'll take a few years.
If there was funding, people wouldn't attend a marketing seminar. This is just a microsoft acquisition with extra steps. Big Tech has been looking to exploit free software for a while now. Microshit's VSCode was a starting point. They'll gatekeep competent devs into mundane tasks for $$$$, and they'll pay "open source" devs pittances to lock them into something they intend on controlling the direction of.
The way out is pretty clear: stop using Github.
