suivix··on Amit Gupta Could Have Marrow Transplant by End of Year
Why should I care about this person, and how is it relevant to startups, hacking, technology, etc.?

"On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity."

suivix··on Google rips Senate's online piracy bill: 'This is what is wrong with Washington'
I think they have more important business to take care of than squabbling with Congressmen all day.
suivix··on Amit Gupta hasn't found a marrow transplant match; today's your last chance.
About half of people with AIDS got it from homosexual behavior, although I don't remember the exact statistic.

edit:

"The CDC had already revealed last year that approximately 53% of the estimated 56,300 new HIV cases in 2006 were in homosexual men, with the African American population being particularly affected."

suivix··on IPad disrupting global DRAM market, causing chipmakers to lose billions
Haven't RAM prices been 'crashing' since the 70s?
suivix··on Learn Regex The Hard Way
The (?i) is a confusing part of that example expression, and I don't see why it's necessary.
suivix··on Think you understand Monty Hall? Try the Tuesday boy problem.
Also I don't think the exact day of birth being Tuesday makes one bit of difference to the gender. For example, if you were to say the known boy was born crying, and the chance of this is 70%, it doesn't affect the gender of the other children. It's just useless trivia.
suivix··on Think you understand Monty Hall? Try the Tuesday boy problem.
Since he has two children, you know first off that these are all equal chance historically:

BB BG GB GG

Now since you know the child is a boy, it eliminates the fourth option. So now we have these possibilities:

BB BG GB

In only one of these is the other child a boy, so the chance is 1/3.

suivix··on Emacs adventures - a couple of things I’ve learned
In Emacs you often need to make Lisp macros for customizations. I love Emacs and have been using it daily for the last few years, but it's not newbie friendly. Making small tweaks can require extensive Google searching.
suivix··on I regularly hire women for 65% to 75% of what males make
Testosterone, maybe? (I'm not trying to be snarky)
suivix··on Zuckerberg IPO Haul Could Top $24 Billion
Does this implicitly mean that top investors or analysts don't expect Google+ to take any market share from Facebook within the next few years?
suivix··on Watch a VC use my name to sell a con
Maybe the website was designed for Netscape Navigator? :)
suivix··on Watch a VC use my name to sell a con
I think being able to work from anywhere is actually less liberating, because it means you're always battling internally about whether you should be working or not.
suivix··on Zynga's Tough Culture Risks a Talent Drain
Those 'pseudo-games' keep my wheelchair bound grandmother occupied (and possibly even entertained) throughout her day. They provide value to some people.
suivix··on The Trouble with Bright Kids
It's interesting because throughout history nearly all tasks have been mundane, and it's only recently that this has changed. But smart kids often feel entitled to not do the mundane stuff.
suivix··on R.I.P. Good Times: The Startup Bubble May Be Coming to an End in 2012
Because it's like he is trying to advocate feminism in the middle of his other points.
suivix··on R.I.P. Good Times: The Startup Bubble May Be Coming to an End in 2012
Most engineers are male, why do you use 'she'? Also it distracts from your other points.
suivix··on Nobody's Going to Help You, and That's Awesome
Although it changes it is still in the human range, close to your original personality, and the delta is negligible. Your brain is essentially the same.
suivix··on Nobody's Going to Help You, and That's Awesome
The way I see it is the neurons in your head are going to do what they're wired to do. You can't change physical law, and any amount of success or failure won't change your brain structure. Your perception of the world is essentially constant. You don't need help being a person any more than a dog needs help being a dog. Just exist and do whatever.
suivix··on The euro zone: Is this really the end?
I think the actual end is when lots of cities in Europe are bombed, like in WW2. But in this crisis all the infrastructure is still in place, and since there is still demand for goods and services, there will be an economy. Economists can make up whatever abstract ideas they want, but the fact is that people will create and trade things of value for other things of value. Maybe I'm just rambling but this is not "the end".
suivix··on For Thanksgiving, give your parents a treat: upgrade their browser
I've had my parents running Google Chrome inside of Sandboxie for over half a year. No issues so far.
suivix··on Education pays ...
Perhaps it's too much data for just a few graphs but it would also be interesting to see race, gender, and so on.
suivix··on Education pays ...
Has anyone considered that maybe the types of people who become educated are also more motivated?

People who floss their teeth have a 7 year higher life expectancy. Obviously, flossing your teeth doesn't increase it.

suivix··on The Closed, Unfriendly World of Wikipedia
I changed 'tyre' to 'tire' in an article and got a vandalism notice on my talk page. That's when I stopped contributing.
suivix··on Ask Sen. Wyden to read your name during his Protect IP filibuster
I don't click on links like this one. Usually they are heavily biased in one direction and aren't worth reading.
suivix··on Making Text Mining Accessible to Any Developer & Non-Expert
I honestly don't think this is feasible without regular expressions. There's very many minor details that make data mining work which have to be custom tailored to different solutions.
suivix··on Don't. Waste. Time.
Why can't I learn what 42 floors is without putting in my email? Really annoying.
suivix··on LHC May Have Found Crack in Modern Physics
I fully expect them to destroy the Earth by the end of 2012.
suivix··on If you want to get rich, stop being a fucking joker
I think it has something to do with #winning, but I'm not sure yet.
suivix··on If you want to get rich, stop being a fucking joker
The difference with Hannibal is that if he and his forces didn't keep advancing, they would literally starve to death. On the other hand, the author here is trying to create senses of urgency with very nebulous justification.
suivix··on If you want to get rich, stop being a fucking joker
Why does there have to be a sense of urgency? I don't think we are meant to have stressful lives.
