spinach··on The young people sifting through the internet's worst horrors
Hands are completely different than genitals. There is reason why being exposing oneself in public is a crime. No one who didn't consent should be a part of someone else's fetish. It's not simply about being a "prude" although there is nothing wrong with being that either. There are many women who are traumatized by getting sent dick photos, it's intrusive and disgusting and the people who send them know it.
spinach··on Database of artists used to train Midjourney AI garners criticism
It's not the same thing. These are people who strived their whole lives to learn to draw and paint and make something of their own. It's not just their livelihood being stolen, it's their own work. They aren't saying not to use generative AI to make art, they are saying they don't want their art to be used to train it.

Artists are still needed to make input for AI, they aren't completely replaced by a machine.

From what info are you assuming that no one did? A middle school boy who was on the plane said "荷物を取り出そうという人もいた"[0], "there were also people who tried to get their luggage".

I'm not sure about the other things but sun tracking tech for solar panels has been around for a long time and it's trivially easy to find through a search, such as [1].

"But there are also other ways to boost the energy production of solar panels – such as by tilting them to follow the Sun's path in the sky, similar to the way young sunflowers follow the sun from east to west during the day. Tracking technology, which is already in use on some land based solar arrays, helps increase the overall electricity production, as the panels constantly adjust to face the Sun."

spinach··on How Did Polyamory Become So Popular?
What statistic? A national one? Because the variation from place to place would be drastic, like comparing rural to urban, and the various politics and cultures that have more hold over different cities. I wouldn't say that a national statistic could say much about one single place or person's experience.
spinach··on Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong
Because Walmart also pays taxes.
spinach··on How artists are sabotaging AI to take revenge on image generators
This is not the same as those things at all. The poisoning of the data sets only works because the AI is scraping the internet for images and stealing the artist's works. They are mad because their art is being stolen and they didn't consent to it.

It's easy to call other people names when it's not your life's work at stake.

spinach··on Scarlett Johansson hits AI app with legal action for cloning her voice in an ad
I can't see AI getting rid of celebrities because one of the reasons people like them is that it's a form of human connection (even if it's parasocial). Also, there will still be inequality - same as it is now, in that people/companies with the most computing power will be the ones on top.
spinach··on AI girlfriend ads are flooding Instagram and TikTok
They can easily get low-grade (and unwanted) attention, but high-grade attention of the opposite sex is just as tough as it is for men. From men's point of view that tends to be more sex only it might seem like women have it easy, but women tend to want more emotional involvement in relationships. Hence why women read more in depth about love and sex in romance novels, and why men watch porn and buy prostitutes. Not saying there aren't men that don't enjoy romance novels or that women don't watch porn, only that it's a very clear that the sexes are biased that way.

spinach··on How the Y chromosome makes some cancers more deadly for men
There indeed are many people pushing the idea that sex isn't binary using things like Disorders of Sexual Development (intersex), other species that can change sex like clownfish (pretending this says something about humans), and also creating confusion between sex and gender and conflating them (such as how your sex is listed on ID, but people claim a gender, such as the opposite sex or non-binary, and have that gender listed as their sex).
spinach··on The rule says, “No vehicles in the park”
But what is the exact definition of "vehicle"?

In the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario "vehicle" is defined as: “vehicle” includes a motor vehicle, trailer, traction engine, farm tractor, road-building machine, bicycle and any vehicle drawn, propelled or driven by any kind of power, including muscular power, but does not include a motorized snow vehicle or a street car; (“véhicule”)

spinach··on A life of splendid uselessness is a life well lived
The author seems to undermine their own point by saying it's only certain types of uselessness that are good. That uselessness is actually useful for certain things and thus, are like those things he mentioned which have a use and end goal. Do useless things, but only if they are useful.
spinach··on Who knew the first AI battles would be fought by artists?
But people aren't being automated away - their work is input, and for the AI generated art to remain fresh and relevant instead of rehashing old stuff it would need artists to continue creating new art. It's not a tool that exists independently of people's creative work (although this is true of most AI, though it seems particularly terrible with art).
spinach··on The hype around esports is fading as investors and sponsors dry up
Is it simply a shot at women? As the only way women can make money that way is if there is an audience of men willing to watch and spend money on them.
spinach··on The Crime That Killed Shinzo Abe
You can tell by their twitter that their actions don't match their stated stance. They've become a woke social justice organization like many other institutions, repeating mantras such as: https://twitter.com/ACLU/status/1269413639464849409

Human trafficking is a huge problem even in America. This includes many children sold for sex. They often find and groom victims online now though, so yes, perhaps they aren't hiding in the bushes.
spinach··on Reddit files to go public
Reddit has become so heavy-handed with censorship, especially towards feminism, I stopped using it a long time ago. Reddit is a great example of how awful the internet is for woman.

Porn subs can have content that is female only, but subs for women and lesbians have to include men who think they're women and feminist subs get banned. The biggest lesbian sub is so overrun by men it's a joke.
