sourcecodeplz··on VPS Benchmarks for Self-Hosters
Hetzner bestest, no surprise there.
sourcecodeplz··on Nascar suspends driver indefinitely for liking an insensitive meme
Deserved. You shouldn't make fun of someone's death by murded.
sourcecodeplz··on Open Source Microsoft Activation Scripts
I don't know if this had trojans, backdoors, viruses or whatever. I've used it to remove the "Activate Windows" watermark and enable customizations to my Windows 10.

Worked a treat, after a restart the watermark was gone and I had a fully activated copy.

sourcecodeplz··on Concrete, asphalt and urban heat islands add to the misery of heat waves
Another reason is police helicopters can not see suspects hiding under the trees. No joke, look it up.
sourcecodeplz··on Disney discontinues DVD and Bluray production in Australia
Just torrent them.
sourcecodeplz··on Remote workers are increasingly less productive, anxious, depressed and lonely
Obviously all the introverts would rather work from home. Do remember though, humans are social animals. Hybrid is best in my opinion.
sourcecodeplz··on Apple's Hidden Social Network
I don't really understand this:

> Contacts (Profiles). You can set up name and photo sharing in Messages in two ways: either sharing automatically with contacts (i.e., “following” style social graph vs. bidirectional “friends”) or as one-off events.

sourcecodeplz··on EXP TV – endless stream of obscure media and video ephemera
This is not bad!
sourcecodeplz··on Arizona driver says he was 'trapped' in hot Tesla after battery died
Sure but when you're panicking obvious things don't seem so obvious anymore.
sourcecodeplz··on I'm betting on HTML
You don't use CSS just to make pages pretty. It is useful for accessibility and user experience as well. Not to mention personalization. Not every page needs to have a carbon copy style of others. CSS is so useful it is almost ridiculous to say HTML never needed it.
sourcecodeplz··on I'm betting on HTML
What's wrong with <iframe>? I find it quite useful.
sourcecodeplz··on Ask HN: Did anyone write a book in Nano?
I use Sublime with word count and grammar plugins. It is nice because I have tons of color schemes for different types of stories.
sourcecodeplz··on Marijuana addiction: those struggling often face skepticism
The "good" thing about cannabis addiction is that the cravings don't last more than a couple of days AND are only psychological.
sourcecodeplz··on Alcohol without the hangover – scientists are finding ways
The hangover is an essential part of drinking. It's what stops you from starting all over again the next day / week.
sourcecodeplz··on Play deprivation is a major cause of the teen mental health crisis
I once worked my courage up to go to the skate park with my roller blades. I fell on my ass when trying to go down the quarter-pipe. I felt like dying and couldn't breath. When I got home I threw them in the trash, without hesitation.
sourcecodeplz··on US smartphone shipments fall sharply, but Android more than iPhone
Apple is the only manufacturer that still sells a phone today with an actual physical button. It is hard for me to give that up. Also it is very small and slim. Barely feel it in my pocket, not to mention the nice feeling aluminium on the back.
sourcecodeplz··on Threads users down by more than a half
With all the money Meta has (even more if they didn't blew so much on Metaverse) they should have built some kind of monetization opportunities for the users from the get go. Something like Twitter is doing now.

Nothing attracts people more than money. Give 1/10/100 USD per month to super active users that attract views and engagement.

sourcecodeplz··on Play deprivation is a major cause of the teen mental health crisis
My knees and elbows were constantly hurt from all the activities.
sourcecodeplz··on US smartphone shipments fall sharply, but Android more than iPhone
That's just an exercise though really. You NEED a smartphone nowadays for everyday life: banking, gym access, maps, etc.
sourcecodeplz··on Singapore to execute woman on drugs charge for the first time in 20 years
Not crazy at all. Not every country needs millions of mentally ill people due to drug abuse.
sourcecodeplz··on How the 'lazy girl job' took over work TikTok
Actually, starting from 2013/15 these conditions did appear out of thin air with the unregulated non-stop printing of dollars. Unlimited VC funds for almost any start-up in tech. Near zero interest rates. Those were the times that got us here.
sourcecodeplz··on Paris to bring back swimming in Seine after 100 years
I dunno, used to do things like this when I was a poor kid but not anymore. Too many chemicals in todays world.
sourcecodeplz··on Apple’s strict on App Store rules but gives WeChat a free pass (2020)
What does logging-in have to do with free speech?
sourcecodeplz··on Guide to running Llama 2 locally
I run the original llama 7b model just fine on 8GB of Ram. It is best to give advice from experience not only what you read from others.
sourcecodeplz··on ‘A relationship with another human is overrated’ – the rise of AI girlfriends
I fear this very much underrated scale wise. Parents are busy, kids do school from home, they dont play outside. What do you expect?
sourcecodeplz··on Why I do not use psychedelics
Dude use some common sense. Drink a beer and compare it with smoking just one puff from a joint. Tell me which fucks you up more. There is your answer.
sourcecodeplz··on Why I do not use psychedelics
Just have some beers, maybe wine or some liquor from time to time. Better than any psychedelics and you won't get schizophrenia later on in life.
sourcecodeplz··on Icon Buddy – 100K+ Open Source SVG Icons, Fully Customizable
Use this at your own risk. There is no license. Icons are sourced from all over the place.
sourcecodeplz··on Ask HN: What are some low cost payment processing alternatives to Stripe?
That landing page is ridiculous for a payment processor.
sourcecodeplz··on Study finds billions of nanoplastics released when microwaving containers
I've always had a not so enthusiastic opinion about microwaves. The tech just didn't sit right with me.

Finally some years I gave in and bought one. 2 months later it broke. Never replaced it. Good riddance.

I just use the stove/oven. It is slower but I understand it.
