simplexion··on I stopped following the news
We have an English word for it too. Neophile.
simplexion··on OpenWrt 18.06.4
Zyxel NBG6817. It's what I use with OpenWrt installed and it is rock solid and performance is excellent.
simplexion··on OpenWrt 18.06.4
OpenWrt can be installed on Ubiquiti routers.
simplexion··on Monsanto ordered to pay $289M in world's first Roundup cancer trial
Another court case that proves a jury is far from scientific.
simplexion··on What a debate about p-values shows about science
Yet people still do studies on alternative "medicines" and other stupidity like "wind turbine sickness." That is literally doing something dumb that everyone will hear about.
simplexion··on Why are today's teens putting off driving, dating and drinking?
Wow... that would have to be almost as good correlation as vaccines cause autism. I have a feeling it is more likely due to easier access to knowledge.
simplexion··on Apple Special Event (Sept 2017)
frothing at mouth
simplexion··on I spent my career in tech, but wasn’t prepared for its effect on my kids
How does a child having a computer exclude them from learning empathy? Do teenagers that are more likely to be depressed use social media more?

There are so many problems with this article.

simplexion··on Build a Serverless Web Applicaion
I think something like "Server-nescient Web Application." Marketing departments should like a fun word like nescient.
simplexion··on The Shamanic View of Mental Illness (2010)
I'm thinking the exact opposite.
simplexion··on Removing Home Internet Is the Most Productive Thing I've Done
I never reach into my pocket to check for messages. That is what my LG G Watch R is for, it gives me the information quickly and easily.
simplexion··on A flight was late because someone named their Wi-Fi hotspot ‘Galaxy Note 7’
Except they don't "literally" explode. They catch on fire and melt, if you think that fits the definition of explode I have some fireworks that I would like to sell to you.
simplexion··on A flight was late because someone named their Wi-Fi hotspot ‘Galaxy Note 7’
Except they don't explode by definition and it is just the persistence by the media plus fear and ignorance that continues this stupidity. This Galaxy Note bullshit needs to die.
simplexion··on No Spanking, No Time-Out, No Problems
Maybe you should think, "What would I feel if my father did this while I was screaming at him, throwing objects at him, and hitting him?"
simplexion··on No Spanking, No Time-Out, No Problems
Why do so many of these child psychologists not have children of their own?

Edit: This is hyperbole. I am talking about this particular child psychologist not having children. I understand it doesn't mean he might not have a great understanding of how a child's mind works but it means he has never had the stress of raising a child and knowing how hard it is to keep your cool with them. Especially when they are as energetic as my own children.

simplexion··on As Batteries Keep Catching Fire, U.S. Safety Agency Prepares For Change
Replace aircraft with car and continue this conversation.
simplexion··on As Batteries Keep Catching Fire, U.S. Safety Agency Prepares For Change
Less than .01% of the phones caught fire. The recall is crazy.
simplexion··on As Batteries Keep Catching Fire, U.S. Safety Agency Prepares For Change
Change for something that occurred in less than .01% of the devices? It is incredible the kind of irrationality that is brought about by fear. It's the same reason that, here in Australia, there is talk of culling sharks after a single person is attacked.
simplexion··on As Batteries Keep Catching Fire, U.S. Safety Agency Prepares For Change
Failure rates for rechargeable Li-ion batteries are on the order of one in 10 million cells.

simplexion··on As Batteries Keep Catching Fire, U.S. Safety Agency Prepares For Change
How would this resolve any issues?
simplexion··on Diamonds Suck (2006)
The correct response for when someone asks your wife why she doesn't have shiny carbon on her ring is, "because fuck you, that's why."
simplexion··on Apple selling a $79 MacBook Pro power adapter without a USB-C cable goes too far
This is a joke. There is definitely no extension cable.

simplexion··on Gut Feelings: Bacteria and the Brain (2013)
Give autistic children ALL THE RICIN!
simplexion··on Gut Feelings: Bacteria and the Brain (2013)
Anecdotes are fun!
simplexion··on Gut Feelings: Bacteria and the Brain (2013)
That is based on a single study and not a fantastic one. I would be a bit skeptical of it.
simplexion··on Canada's immigration website crashes on election night
We already voted in our version of Trump, so we probably won't let you in.
simplexion··on MacBook Pro
Most of these "facts" you have posted aren't true.
simplexion··on Iceland’s Prime Minister Resigns, After Pirate Party Makes Strong Gains
Nope. Definition of a lobbyist: "A lobbyist is someone hired by a business or a cause to persuade legislators to support that business or cause. Lobbyists get paid to win favor from politicians. For example, oil companies send lobbyists to Washington to try to make life easier for oil companies."

A lobbyist is a lobbyist. It's not the label assigned to people who give input in general.

simplexion··on Sonder E-Ink Keyboard
The vertical mouse thing being "ergonomic" is nonsense. There are studies that have shown this. From memory it was generally worse for you to use a vertical mouse in terms of productivity and comfort.

The only thing vertical mice reduce is wrist movement.

simplexion··on MacBook Pro
This is something I will never understand. Why would you reduce your work space by not extending the displays?
