I snagged a 40kwh S before they discontinued it. Had it for a year, never needed to charge anywhere but my home. I get about 135 miles on a charge and it has been more then enough for commutes around the metro.
It makes buying more cumbersome and we paid 20% down on something we never seen or even driven a test model. I also was not able to put TX sales tax into my loan and had to pay the lump sum when registering the vehicle here.
Keep in mind you can now see the S at the service center and take it for a test drive but you need to make an appointment. The problem is they can't (or not supposed to) help you with buying or financing there, you have to do it over the phone and on the website.
CNet is showing the first fire. Keep in mind the model s has a 12 volt battery right behind the nose. It is in a much more vulnerable spot then the main battery pack.
They aren't actually using the slot, just potentially covering a slot right? One of the fastest desktop cards out, r290x only uses one PCI-E slot.
As a bonus, we all got unlocked phones with Wifi tethering (free) and better data service. Keep in mind though, T-mobile signal might suck for your location.
