schwit··on ‘Big brother’ black boxes to soon be mandatory in all new cars
Please show me a death caused by a car and not by the driver.
schwit··on 'Homeland Security could inspect what enters the United States in cyberspace'
How do you inspect encrypted data?
schwit··on The Test: Civilization at a Crossroads
"All laws should have an expiration date."

I would add that the states should be able to override any federal law if 51% of the states voted to do so. It would be as if the law never passed.

schwit··on Poll: Which text editor do you use daily?
ultraedit
schwit··on Walmart buys a Facebook-based calendar app to get a look at customers' dates
Reason 617 not to have a Facebook account.
schwit··on Khan Academy on 60 Minutes
This will do wonders for the home-schoolers and allow kids to have flexible school hours. You could also have all of the students in one big location and only the teachers move as students need them, except for situations that require specialized locations. ie gym, band, art, lunch.
schwit··on If hotels billed like hospitals
Why aren't hospitals and doctors REQUIRED to post prices?
schwit··on Verisign seizes .com domain registered via foreign registrar
Verisign is the registrar for all .tv and .cc domains.
schwit··on Verisign seizes .com domain registered via foreign registrar
http://www.firstrowsports.tv/

They moved to http://www.firstrowsports.eu/

schwit··on Verisign seizes .com domain registered via foreign registrar
Not just .com. US law applies to any TLD managed by a US registrar. An example is .tv which is managed by Verisign.
schwit··on Kill Hollywood? Let's fix politics instead: kill lobbying.
There's a number of little things that would make lobbying less effective.

- Move legislators back to their home district

- Term limits

- Permit them to only accept contributions from registered voters in their district

- repeal the 17th amendment

schwit··on MPAA Response to White House Position on Anti-Piracy Legislation
And up is down and black is white. The MPAA and RIAA are the poster children for maintaining the status quo. They have no need to innovate as long as they can continue to line the pockets of corrupt politicians.
schwit··on Car-sharing service HiGear shuts down due to theft of 4 cars worth $400,000
"having revealing pictures and even stats (measurements) of the women is pretty much the definition of objectification."

So what? I don't recall reading anything that indicates these women were forced to do anything against their will.

schwit··on The 57,000 Page Tax Return
This can be fixed in at least 2 simple ways.

1. Don't tax the essentials. Milk, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, non-luxury cloths. Don't tax the first $50 of a pair of shoes. Don't tax the first $15k of a car.

2. Determine the average monthly sales tax paid for by a person at the poverty line. Have the government send a monthly check for that amount, minus 10%, to every citizen. Everyone should pay some tax.

schwit··on Why Gmail's new design is unsuitable for heavy use
The best icon is a word. There's no interpretation necessary between picture and purpose. This new version looks like something from Microsoft ... change for the sake of change.
schwit··on Google Denies Requests To Remove Videos of Police Brutality
I would like to know what videos were requested be removed.
schwit··on FBI to launch nationwide facial recognition service
Then they will arrest you for interfering with a law enforcement officer. Not that it will stick, but by the time you get it cleared up you are $100k in the hole from legal expenses and a message has been sent to anyone else thinking of doing the same.
schwit··on The Immutable Laws of Computer Security
#9 says "Read the privacy statements on the websites you visit, and only do business with ones whose practices you agree with."

This statement is incredibly naive. Websites can change their privacy statements daily or they may not adhere to their own privacy statement.

schwit··on Ask: Which US state is best for starting a LLC?
Best states for businesses: http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/2011-06-28-cnbc-virg...
schwit··on Regulation, not technology is holding back driverless cars
"There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005."

Can we stop calling all motor vehicle crashes accidents. If the driver was drunk or purposely distracted it is NO more an accident than if I was randomly firing a gun hoping no one got hit.

schwit··on [dead]
Either the Constitution gets enforced or not. If the Constitution is to be enforced then the Supremacy Clause AND the 4th amendment need to adhered to. That means warrants for all searches.
schwit··on [dead]
Old news.
schwit··on After AT&T Ruling, Should We Say Goodbye to Consumer Class Actions?
The court ruled based upon the laws that Congress passed. I agree that the law needs to be changed, but that change must come from Congress. When judges overrule Congress it better only be because Congress violated the Constitution, otherwise you have judicial activism.
schwit··on Why no company that values their data should ever "Go Google"
I would be afraid that in a dispute Google could do a PayPal and lock you out of your data. I would also be concerned that Google would provide law enforcement access to your data without your knowledge, consent or a warrant.
schwit··on Poll: What is your experience with EverNote?
Android: The EverNote installer says the app requires access to certain areas of the device. - Hardware Controls - Network Communications - Your Location - Your personal Information - Storage - Phone Calls - System Tools

This is absurd. I passed.

schwit··on Toyota, The Media Owe You an Apology
The media also owes an apology to Richard Jewel and the Duke lacrosse team.
schwit··on $1.50 per gallon synthetic gasoline with no carbon emissions?
Ranks right up there with zero-point-energy on the believability scale.
schwit··on US states: If they were countries
It would be nice if the states were permitted to run their states as if countries, without the incessant interference of the federal government.
schwit··on California lawmaker pushes to tax online sales
Maybe they should fix their pension plans first: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274870331540457525...
